  1. The standards for me are the same. For this team they have been below the standard in every game. But the turn around from the first half to the second half yesterday showed alot of mental toughness which has been absent most of this year. 7 points in a half is great for any defense against a good team. It was a breath of fresh air to see a runner get stopped for a short gain or even a loss for the first time this year. To meet the standard the defense needs to be tough all the time and stuff the run with regularity and be aware on long passes like the good old days with Donavan Alexander. Yesterdays second half was only a glimmer of hope, something to build on perhaps.
  2. Was anyone else impressed with the defense in the second half? Without that bs pi on a 3rd down, where Mackey played great D for maybe his 5th time ever, call that gave SUU 7 points the D pitches a shutout on a team with a sure fire NFL prospect at QB. The first half sucked all around but the 2nd half is always more important and yesterday the team finished the way I wish they had all year.
  3. Why dump it short when you can run around in the backfield for 6 seconds and then bomb it 60 yards backshoulder?
  4. Or is it just too many young guys at a few positions and lack of toughness more so than lack of talent
  5. This is not the 2010 team by any means skill wise. I see an average und team for the most part with a few spectacular players here and there. The majority of these guys would have been a healthy scratch on that 2010 team and other really good Sioux teams of recent memory. There are too many young kind of skilled forwards who have a long ways to go before this team can even be called really good by und standards.
  6. The team had some fire in that second half today. The d made a few plays and even overcame that awful pi call that gave SUU 7 points
  7. We should expect to be a near sellout for most games. We should also expect a win today in a crazy shootout, 54 - 48 UND.
  8. 6500 seems a little low. Did it ever get that bad last year even?
  9. He'll get drafted. Two really good and accurate passers tomorrow. Best QB battle in Alerus history by far.
  10. I was the one being sarcastic. Someone posted something about this thread being dead so I posted that.
  11. Purely a sarcastic response to a post in another thread.
  12. Horrible idea. Sure it'll get a couple butts in seats but it devalues football and makes it seem like a joke.
  13. Just wait for the hype machine to get rollin for next years team with all the new defenders and qb.
  14. I think you'll see a balanced offense. Also, don't forget that this is the final home game for the seniors. The team will get this win for them.
  15. I can't wait for this game and I know I'm not alone and will basically guarantee a sell out with a good familiar big name opponent coming to the Alerus. I know the only reason that this thread has been kind of dead is due to their being so much to talk about with the game that know body knows where to start. It's going to be a classic the likes of which we have never seen before. Bump
  16. I'm sure you could go back to Binsonville posts from 2009 and basically quote what you just posted. The glass is not half empty with the other half being filled with scheisse.
  17. Hazelton is a fantastic coach and a great guy. His players oozed praise about how good of a coach he was before he left. I've met the guy and he doesn't have that typical NDSU d-bag coach characteristic.
  18. Who and when were the firings. I'm actually curious.
  19. My guess is that with the return of Kleason the run game can click more. And hopefully it's Sparks running.
  20. Because I dont make the decisions on who plays. If I did Mersereau would play corner Miller would return kicks and Mackey would be cut to name a few.
  21. I think he'll bring some explosion to the RB position. Sutton is strong but merely runs into defenders instead of exploding into them. Miller and Garmin avoid at all costs. Sparks is built strong enough to explode into a guy and go through him but also fast/quick enough to make someone miss or get to space. Let the kid play.
  22. He has also proven incapable of breaking any tackle or running between the tackles. I feel like Sparks is built to do both. Sparks has a good 20 lbs on Garmin and is just as quick/fast.
  23. Is a 4.4 40 close enough?
  24. So you want to move Jake Miller to WR?
  25. Neither team have a good defense. There should be alot of points. They don't run the ball much and their pass defense sucks. Over/Under 800 combined passing yards?
