We need to have high standards but we also need to live in reality. It's tough to balance the two in our surrey situation but we just need to stay the course.

Just give the coaches time. I wasn't able to watch but the defense sounded like they played really well especially considering Hinojosa was out. You can't win many games with a qb that can at least manage the game. For anyone who watched, how did the lines do? Was Mollberg under pressure or was he just awful on his own?

MafiaMan has added a lot to the football conversation. Just because he doesn't spew convoluted groupthink doesn't mean he's a hockey only troll, he obviously knows football. And gfhockey keeps us connected with the real power players behind the scenes so there's that.

Year before last (2012) QB WR DL OL I'll give you but all others aren't in the same ballpark. Year before that (2011). WR was not as deep. QB had no depth. OL was better. DL better. LB a wash. Everything else isn't as good. Year before that (2010). OL DL better. Everything else much worse.

It's still better than years past. QB and WR are the exception. Most other positions have much improved depth especially on defense.

Name the team then

Even though we do lack depth this roster has by far the best depth of the last 6 teams. Just look at the LBs and DBs.

Getting off the line doesn't have a whole lot to do with strength, it's more about technique. If you can deflect the hands of the db then they can't do anything other than hold you.

Missouri St newly renovated their field. What makes me kind of mad is that in the 40 Memorial was a fine, large stadium. The Alerus is hardly an bigger. Missouri St has gone from a stadium of 8500 in the 40s to a 17500 now. How does Missouri St have a bigger stadium than us? They have 0 championships of any kind, conference, bowl, national. None. Yet they have a stadium that seats 5000 more than ours....

I highly doubt weber will be a bottom team this year. They loaded up on transfers that have made a massive difference. They'll be good.

Can't disagree with the heart and lack of breaking on the part of the d. They believe they can be very good. If they clean up the opening drives of each half against RMU we shut them out. They still can't allow 200 yards on the ground though, that can't happen against a legit team.

It's great that we won but we need to be much much better to have a chance next week. We improved from week 1 to 2 and I'm proud of the way we greased out an ugly win but giving up 200+ yards in the ground and having the offensive performance that we did is unacceptable. Standards need to be high, nobody should be happy with a squeaked out win against Robert Morris no matter how much better they are than previous years. It's not that there weren't tons of positives to build on but there were a few glaring deficiencies that need to be fixed asap.
