http://www.keloland.com/news/article/sports/und-adding-two-video-boards-to-betty-engelstad-sioux-center According to the article, “UND Athletics and Ralph Engelstad Arena are financing the $600,000 project.” So perhaps the 52% does in fact benefit more than just UND hockey.

And lest we forget not a single national championship came with the Bennett Brien logo.

Curse of the bouncy ball center is left behind in Minneapolis and a new chapter is started at the home of big boy pucks in St. Paul...5-3 good guys.
-
Is team USA required to have a former UND player on their roster at all times going forward for key shootouts? Simple question.
-
CAN looked gassed in OT.
-
I pity the fool that was tasked with tracking turnovers in OT. Yishhhh.

Wolanan’s top plays are great but he partners that with a few head scratchers every weekend. Inconsistency doesn’t work for NHL clubs. And his exaggerated toe drag at the blue line won’t create enough space at the top level. Great college player but unless he continues to improve it could be tough to see much ice time at the next level. I agree he is gone though.

We need to get back to executing the basics and outworking the opponent. My suggestion for a basics 101 course this week...executing odd man rushes. As far as the definition of executing; I would be happy with a shot on goal. Bonus points for a quality shot on goal.
-
He can start with no weak backhand passes d to d. They don’t work even when the other team has one less guy on the ice.

Much better game tonight. The ARs at REA have to learn to count to six (or seven). Omaha had 6 players actively in the play for a least 30 seconds with about 5:30 left. I know the score was out of hand but that is any easy one to call.
-
I’ve not seen a UND team in the last decade get so few shots on goal during odd man rushes. I fully expect this to get better in the second half but it has been noticeable.
-
“Clearly” we got pushed into their goalie in OT last night but we still got the penalty. I’m just pointing out the inconsistency. I’m not sure what we have done to Don Adam and his officials recently but we are getting zero calls in our favor. From Denver to Western last weekend to this weekend.
-
Not drunk just frustrated. At some point a few calls have to go our way. I can see why it was called they way it was if you look at this play on isolation. But I can show you videos of at least 5 other plays in the last few years that suggest it should have gone the other way.

I will stand by this all day long. If a screen out front in which you make minor contact with the goalie’s glove even though he is outside of the crease is enough to wave it off; a player laying in the back of the net is just as disruptive to the goalie. The penalty on us in OT last night was more contact than Kiersted on Lizotte.
-
100% not a goal. Kiersted did not cause enough contact for Lizotte to end up in the back of the net.

I’ve noticed a trend of refs swallowing their whistles in the 3rd (nothing new) but then calling a weak penalty in OT this year. I’m in the “a penalty in the first is a penalty in the 3rd camp” but if you don’t call legitimate penalties in the 3rd it should take something significant in OT.

My quick assessment is he uses too many heart emojis on twitter. Not very helpful for his hockey abilities but accurate reporting.

Can we please find one forward that can make a move with the puck and generate some space without coughing it to the other team? See Colton Poolman’s simple fake, walk in, snipe as an example of how simple it can be to execute. Sadly Poolman/Bast/Wolanin are the three most likely to pull it off these days.

So the super slow motion replay you are watching in isolation isn’t impacting your decision? You are making a lot of assumption about me. If you watch it real time they are both watching the play at first. Yes, there was enough time to avoid the hit and therefore it should have been interference but I don’t believe he was singling out Plante just because he wanted to get a shot on the hurt guy. And I promise you UND will be on the worse end of at least a dozen hits this year that will go without a major
-
Obviously a cheap shot? I guess we were watching different games. I’m on board with a dumb 2 minute interference penalty but no way is it a five. A more violent hit via a cross check happens 5 times a game while players are crashing the crease or setting up shop in front on a pp. This is also a huge gap in the player safety category imho. You can’t touch a guys helmet incidently in the neutral zone but you can punch him in the face after a whistle when any form of contact is illegal. I’m not saying take those plays out but there has to be some “not so” common sense applied.

1) The NCHC needs to displine Monty for his tirades or the refs need to take it into their own hands and let a call go and skate by the bench and say “next time keep your mouth shut”. You reward good behavior and/or punish bad behavior. Pick one, the other, or both. 2). Mark my words this will come back to haunt DU at some point this season most likely in the NC$$s. When you are used to getting coddled and all of a sudden it doesn’t go your way a meltdown will ensue. Imagine a game when the refs put the whistles in their pockets and “let them play”. Their stars won’t be able to handle it.

I’m not sure this is a good look for a college coach. I understand calling out your leaders inside the locker room but publically seems a bit much especially after the last two post game tirads. “We have a serious lack of commitment to a team-first attitude right now,” Montgomery added. “We have lapses that are ‘oh my god’ bad. It’s happening primarily by returning players that have won championships. We’re not getting led the right way right now.” https://letsgodu.com/2017/11/17/pioneers-blow-3-0-lead-show-little-life-after-first-period-in-5-4-loss-to-north-dakota/

“Oh no! #8 is not going to fit in the rafters with the current configuration. I bet they are going to have to move the conference banners to over the student section”, he thought.
