HAHAHA! You make a good point!

Does this mean UND is going to go after Don Lucia?
-
Oh come on IrishSiouxFan, you don't think the hockey players at UND get illegal benefits? It happens at EVERY school, Minnesota included. I'm very good friends with a teacher at UND who played football at Wyoming and he said he saw football and basketball players at the U of Wyoming receiving tens of thousands of dollars in benefits. I would be willing to bet my yearly earnings that there are boosters at UND giving hockey players money, gifts and other benefits. Edit: Just figured I'd prove my point on how I know it's still happening at Minnesota. Oregon star running back and, before he got injured, Heisman candidate Lamicheal James had Minnesota as one of his final 3 choices for football.

If a school does this you would think they have to consider doing it for all the sports that it has. If that is the case, not sure if it is, UND will not even come a quarter of the way to what they need. The only schools that would be able to are the B1G schools in hockey, and that is just because they are overall, by far the most profitable conference in college athletics. I saw a story the other day that said if this does come to be a truth only 40 of the 67 I think? BCS schools would be able to afford doing it. I would have to assume if not all the BCS schools could afford it, that a school like UND will have no chance to. Minnesota is one that can barely afford it and will be doing it and that is just because they are a top 20 school in popularity in the country in athletics and because they are a top 25 school in merchandise sales in the country. UND isn't in the top 150 for either of those which leads one to believe that they have no chance at doing this. If they do they're going to have to get A LOT of private funds from alumni and such. Edit: Sorry, it has become a truth

Lol i think some people make this seem more heated than NATO versus Libya

No it's not, remember the first year we missed the NCAA tournament. We were ranked #1 in the country from the start of the season all the way into a few weeks of the 2nd half of the season and then miraculously collapsed to miss the tourney. Things were looking up and then, BAM!! Ultimate b!tch slap!

Goon said it best when he said you can throw records out for this series, its been like that for a long time. Siouxforce...no gopher fans literally think your cellar dwellers and a "bye week." You're a tool bag fan for even saying that. I believe this series is a split, Minnesota wins friday and North Dakota wins saturday. This could be a turning point to the slow start for UND as well if they can perform well and start hitting the back of the net. Starting out quick and scoring fast is key for UND to set the tempo. North Dakota struggled defensively on the big ice in Madison, so I guess we'll see if they can correct that problem in the slightly larger Mariucci ice sheet. I think both games will be very close. I'll only be able to see Fridays game due to my Crimson Tide playing LSU in the real football national championship saturday night. Both games will be a blast this weekend! Hope everyone has fun watching!

all they really have to do is improve their defense. Their offense has been good, they just haven't been burying the puck. That will come though.

As a gopher fan I respect anybody who slashes Bucky Badger, I didn't know he did that. I completely change my stance on him
-
You know...i'm not really sure lol
-
Well, lets put it this way. I watched the Gophers game against Anchorage last night and there couldn't have been more than 150 people in that arena. Not even joking
-
friday night i can't explain, saturday night i'm surprised there were any badgers fans there with their football team playing michigan state at the same time
-
I wouldn't say that, this UND team reminds me a lot of UMD last year. Next year they will be very good unless people like Kristo leave early. If he keeps it up and if Montreal keeps struggling they may push him to sign.
-
Leddy really didn't do anything in college at all. He was always in good defensive position but he was known as an offensive defensemen and he just didn't live up to that hype. Minnesota caught a break this year only losing Ness. They got really lucky that Bjugstad didn't leave, he'll be gone after his sophomore year though. If Erik Haula keeps it up I have a feeling the Wild will be trying to get him to sign as well. That will probably be all Minnesota loses early this year as well. Lucia is being smart now, he changed his recruiting to match more of UND's, bring in some big time scorers and fill up with good role players, that will help keep more players around.

Great point, i'd like to use Minnesota as an example. They were always bringing in some of the best players in the country and have had the most draft picks of any team in the NCAA on their teams the past few years. They had all the talent needed to win a championship, but the team couldn't come together and they weren't very good. The funny thing is that a lot of the players the past few years had sucked for minnesota, only to go straight to the NHL when they leave early. Nick Leddy was a joke in college and he was starting first line for the Blackhawks the year after he left. Just be glad as UND fans you haven't had to deal with the mass exodus of players to the NHL like Minnesota has in recent years. This year you lost a lot, but Minnesota has lost an average of 4 or 5 players a year the past 5 years from leaving early. Hard to build a team like that. You have to give Hak credit for doing such a great job keeping his players. I think a lot of that is because he doesn't bring in a bunch of highly touted recruits. Hak brings in a few star players and fills in with some great role players, that's what you need to be a good program and he has that formula down to a science. When he wins a national title I believe he will end up going down as the greatest coach in UND history

Yeah, holds slightly more than 15,000 I believe. My diagnosis on why there was so few people there...halloween weekend in Madison. Anyone that's been to that campus knows its a party place. For Christ sakes their student union has a bar in it with about 25 beers on tap lol

everything you're saying is completely opinionated. You act like it was major news. And everyone, including 95% of sioux fans i talk to agree that the handshake thing was on Finley, he was always known as the big dumb guy in the sioux lineup. Many people i know hated him because all he did was take stupid penalties. Plus he knows he is on tv when he's playing Minnesota, that's something you don't do on tv. From what you see on the tape you can't blame anyone but Finley. If college hockey had a head disciplinarian like the NHL Finley would have been the one that got suspended for all of that because that's what the tape shows. I was at a party one time that he was at while he was a sophomore and he was walking around with his hockey helmet on headbutting walls and poles as hard as he could lol. Many friends of mine had class with him and had said Finley was talking all week before that series about fighting someone, i'd have to guess Wheeler was the one he really wanted so he tried to make it happen. That, along with everything you said, can't be proven. There's no factual evidence to back it up, it's just a biased opinion on the matter. Just like everyone on campus knows, heard, that Kristo was drunk, underage mind you, last year when he went outside without shoes. I have friends that were at the party with him before he did it, but it can't be proven factually so you can't say that's what it was.

St. Clair has been ruled ineligible for the year by the NCAA, he lost all 3 appeals
-
I'm going to assume he plays at Minnesota. They're a high powered offensive team and UND's defense has really been struggling. In order to beat Minnesota, more than likely UND is going to have to win in a barn burner, i.e. 6-5, 5-4, etc. Which is entirely possible. So to do that they're going to need his offensive skill in the lineup. The big rink in Minneapolis will help keep some of the physicality down too, and with his speed that big rink would be awesome for him to make some plays. As a Gopher fan, here's to hoping he's not ready yet! lol, sorry!
-
Hak will be getting an extension soon. It would be a huge mistake to let the guy go. In my opinion he is currently the best coach in college hockey. If he keeps it up I have a feeling he will be a long term coach at UND, like Red Berenson at Michigan and Jerry York at BC. Sure the athletic facilities help majorly in helping him recruit who he wants, but he has proved that he can coach. His teams are always amazing in the second half of seasons and that has to do with coaching. As a gopher fan of course I don't want him to stay there but it is obvious that he will. People that say he needs to be fired because he can't win a championship need to shut up because they obviously don't know a good coach when they see one. Although it does seem to be that his teams always trip up in the big games...i'm not sure why that is but given time he'll correct that.

Of course, everybody knows of he Gordy hat trick!
-
This video explains it! Sorry Goon, don't take this personally, but maybe you're just stuck in the old time hockey goal celebrations
-
So after 6 games you expect him to just not be excited anymore? That's how TJ Oshie celebrates, good for him. How is it sportsmanship to be excited? So you're saying everytime the Sioux score this year and do something more than skate to the boards, lift their arms and hug their team mates I can take the video, put it on here and complain about a lack of sportsmanship? Just stupid... Seeing celebrations that show excitement are fun! If a Sioux player did this you know darn well you would laugh and enjoy it. You should think the same about every player when they score, even if you dont like the team. Edit: Ok that one may be a little over the top, but it's still fun and enjoyable and you know you would love it if a sioux player did that haha

I agree, i've always found Wisconsins fans to be terrible.
