Yes. Leave hockey alone.
Bring back UND baseball (if Fargo can field a team in the spring, why can’t GF?). Help stabilize Summit baseball as a conference team sport.
Yeah,I understand it was a Title IX trade-off for women’s hockey so it will not happen.

Not only a hostile crowd in Baylor’s house, but really felt like the officials wanted it to go the other way. There were a couple plays toward the end where the Coyote ladies were stuffed with plenty of body contact, only to have less contact on the other end being called against the Coyotes.
Well played Lady Coyotes. They have not trailed at any time in either game. Keep the momentum going.

You must be right. Too small for coaches offices.

Where are offices for the football staff?
If you can zoom in on the bottom drawing (2nd Level Floor Plan), the FBALL Staff offices are just right of the locker room/auditorium and laundry room.

OK, while I appreciate your perspective, I have one more shot across the bow (had to look that one up and make sure it isn’t spelled bough )…
If the B1G 14 loses 1 (Nebraska) and adds 4 (UVA, UNC, UM and KU), that puts the B1G at 17. Again, it’s a no go from the conference perspective. They might eventually go 16, but really doubt they go 17 (or 18 if their dream of Notre Dame finally comes through).
i would say the B1G stays at 14 and Nebraska is safe, at least for this round of realignment.
However, to return to your original question… imho , no, UNC would not jump to join the B1G. They are happy surrounded by their rivals in the ACC. After all, it’s Duke, Wake Forest, NC State, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Virginia, VA Tech. Very comfortable and mostly stable.

Morning paper: Gopher football salary increases….
Def Cor boost of $136,000 for a total of $800,000. He had a top 10 defense the article said
RB coach got a $72,000 for a total $400,000. cornerbacks coach got an Increase of $61,000i to $380,000. Off line coach got an increase $54,000 to a total of $465,000. Receivers coach got another $34,000 to total $430,000. Special teams got $25,000 for a total $345,000. The offensive coach got a salary of $625,000. The new def line coach will get $420,000 compared to $350,000 for the previous one.
pJ Fleck got a 7 year contact worth $35 mil.WOW
The difference between P5 and G5 is greater the the difference between G5 and FCS. Coordinators each making more than UND and NDSU head coaches combined (plus UND’s assistants). Position coaches salaries above what the North Dakota head coaches are. Talk about big business.
yes, WOW!
and yes, money matters. no way ND is in that ballgame.

You finally said something about the budget. That is the crux of my post.
I am not saying that picking a different coach would have produced different results. My point is that a young up and coming coach would have come here for the same budget as the current staff. And that he could have hired other up and coming assistants with the same budget that is currently being allocated to the football program.
All the hand-wringing about salaries does not exclude the opportunity to hire good coaches. In fact, Bubba has had several on staff that have moved on to greener pastures. That is what assistants do. At least the good ones. And it is not exclusive to FCS programs. -
There were many on SS.com and in the gobc that wanted Bubba because they felt that this will be his last coaching gig until he retires. That appears to be playing out. Others would have preferred a younger, up-and-coming coach.
But my original post was intended to say that coaches, both head coaches and assistant coaches will come, and it’s not always about the money. The last several pages of posts has been an ongoing discussion that UND can’t get good coaches because the pay is too low.

Ok that's what I thought. But when he said.....would DeBoer accept the salary Bubba got....it made me question myself lol. Yes he would have accepted.....or why apply and keep yourself in the running down to the final 2.
Just saying that great coaches will come to Grand Forks at the salary UND pays. The choice was there. The decision was made.
Yes, he would probably be on to higher paying positions by now. DeBoer was a rising young star who would have had a shorter career at UND than Schweigert has. But the salary at UND would not have stopped him from coming to UND on his way to a P5 Head Coaching position.
And he would have been able to hire assistant coaches at the salaries paid by UND. It’s not just the money, it’s getting the right people.
-
Begs the question… would Kalen DeBoer have come to UND for the same salary that Schweigert was offered?
-
The cries of “we want ‘Bama” and “no FBS schools will play us in the preseason” should come together. Why hasn’t NDSU scheduled Alabama for a preseason game? I doubt Saban would say no.
How about Georgia or even LSU?

Here's where I say again there's no western "MAC".
A consortium of the top of the MVFC and BSC would form a better conference athletically and academically.
Or Eastern MWC

My memory could be failing me (very likely) but unless you are implying that KG knew what kind of offense Rudy would be installing as a reason for his departure.... I believe KG bolted to NIU just after Muss was canned and before Bubba and Rudy even set foot into their Memorial Stadium offices.
Yes, he left before Schweigert was hired, but did he improve his draft position by transferring to NIU? Would say he may have had to be UDFA after time in Rudy’s offense.

Would Cooper Kupp be where he is now if he'd have "transfer portal'd" out of EWU after his sophomore year (FCS First Team All-American) for say UWash or UOregon's "quack attack" or even Alabama?
We'll never know, but it's an interesting thought experiment.
Did Kenny Golladay improve his draft position by going to Northern Illinois? We don’t know, but would guess that he did the right thing to get out of Rudy’s offense.

By the way when talking about programs and taking time and all the rest of the excuses, Brett Vigen at Montana State is in his first season.6 hours ago, Sioux>Bison said:Vigen inherited a much better program and roster than Bubba did. Kinda a big difference!
I think you are missing his point…
Many voices on SS are saying that losing the continuity of Bubba would cost UND several years of rebuilding (again). That a new coach will set the football program back at least a few more years. MW Hawk is pointing out the fact that first year coaches, the right first year coaches, can and do make a difference their first year. Utah State did pretty well with their new Coach Anderson this year too and Missouri State has gone from the lower half of the MVFC to the playoffs in both of Petrino’s first 2 years. (and before you say it, I realize both used the transfer portal liberally)
Yes, MSU was in better shape than UND was at the end of the Mussman era (and UND is also in a better place than when Bubba took over), but Vigen is taking the Bobcats to their first Championship game since 1984 and their first conference championship since 2012 in his first year as a head coach. Vigen did not have to rebuild the whole team, but he apparently is very successful in fine-tuning it.
I think what MW Hawk is saying is that UND, with the right fine tuning (leadership), can take that next step to becoming the championship caliber team we are all confident they can be and it doesn’t have to take several years.
My apologies, I don’t mean to put words in MW Hawk’s mouth, but that is how I understand his post.

Yes. Would be much better if there was an active game thread instead of a multi-page transfer portal thread.

Made the playoffs, but finished in the top third of the BSC. MSU was not conference champions.

Maybe Missouri Sate is not an apples to apples comparison, since Petrino has turned them around with so many transfers.
On the other hand, Montana State was an almost-there team in the Big Sky and Vigen has made the difference that put them on top of the BSC -in his first year. It feels like UND is where Montana State was: on the cusp, looking for the right fit to get them to the next level.

If you don’t know that, you didn’t take Dr Bernt Lloyd Wills’ Geography of ND class. The eastern counties of ND was a real question on his final exam.
