Am I out of line here in suggesting that we nab a NDSU (gasp!) coordinator or assistant and tell them to do in Grand Forks what they did in Fargo?  I hate NDSU FB and their success as much as anyone on here (someone mentioned that some UND hockey fans are Bison fans for other sports - I especially hate that approach), but you have to admit that they know how to get it done.

Getting a coordinator from NDSU should be seriously considered. As Dustin said… they know how to get it done.

All those teams hired coaches from the G5. We ain’t getting those coaches at UND. We could try to hire the next up and coming D2 coach but that doesn’t mean success will be guaranteed. They would still need to recruit better talent to UND. Who are they going to out recruit?

Thank you. That is my point. All these teams pulled a successful coach from a lower division and are seeing improvement in their programs. I am not familiar enough with other FCS programs to know which ones have pulled DII or NAIA coaches, but am confident it had been done as successfully as these FBS programs have been in recruiting G5 coaches.

But it is a moot point as long as Bubba wants to remain the head coach.

Who can we bring in to recruit elite talent to GF? What recruits would they have beat other schools out on? I don’t think someone with no connection to the program will end well, but look how coaching went at Nebraska….. and we ain’t Nebraska traditions or $$$$$$

and neither of them are football first schools

Arizona is a bottom pac 12 school too so it really shows the bison aren't as great as their egos say they are

Arizona is a different team this year. They will win more than a few games.

    but oh, my…Kansas!!!

  6. UND must have a big lead (at least 2 scores, if not more) after the 3rd quarter, or history will repeat itself. At a mile and a half above sea level, the Hawks will be gassed in the 4th.

Who would you hire then? Bubba and Danny can’t get it done. Who can do better with these resources?

9 years ago (yeah, ancient history) Kalen DeBoer would have come here for what Bubba got.

Oh yeah, that’s right, he would be gone to U Washington or some other FBS school and UND would have had to find another coach by now.

Maybe UND needs to find someone who wants to move up through building a championship program, not someone who is coming back home as his last gig before retirement. After all, NDSU has gone through 3 coaches while Bubba has been here and have continued their success through all of them.

Finally home safe and sound and thought I would check here…mistake. JuiceU has invaded again….

Respectfully request that the Juice U stuff ends. It is not really relevant to UND discussions.

BIG - at 20 teams brings in Stanford/Cal-Berkley/UW/Notre Dame.  Oregon only comes in if Notre Dame says no.  And Oregon is only being considered because of Nike.

Have to believe the Bay Area with Stanford and Cal Berkeley (one or both) would be more sought after than Eugene and Portland. UW/Seattle would be much higher priority as well. Does the Nike/Phil Knight connection benefit anyone else in the conference? Or is it an Oregon Ducks thing only?

    What will Note Dame do?

Will the Big XII go after 4 PAC 12 schools (U of A, ASU, UC Berkeley and Stanford) to get to 16 also? Is there too much bad blood after Colorado left for the PAC to let them back into the Big XII? Can the Big XII dump WV on the ACC?

Will west coast schools get any respect now?

What will the trickle-down effect be for the Dakota schools? Will there be a trickle-up effect?

    more questions than answers

  10. OK, LIV has 10 events planned for 2023 and 14 for 2024 and 2025. I stand corrected on that.

another question, from the other side… Robert Garrigus was the first to request permission to play LIV. He wasn’t in the LIV field and wasn’t playing in Canada. So what was the deal there? His request was denied, and he respected the tour’s denial, but he still was not high enough in the pecking order to play in Canada? I smell something fishy there.

I don’t have a strong opinion one way or the other, but questions keep coming to mind.

  11. The thing that made me chuckle was the US Open press conferences where the players, for instance Mickelson, said they are joining LIV so they could play less. Did they not read their contract? They are going to be required to play 14 “tournaments” next year and something like 20 eventually. These guys can set their own schedules and skip as many PGA Tour events as they want to and stay members of the PGA Tour. Do they really think they are going to be able to skip events on the LIV calendar without repercussions? Good luck with that. Tiger can stay in good standing on the PGA Tour and only play the majors, if that is all his body will allow. Granted, of the current LIV roster, only Mickelson and DJ have permanent status on the PGA Tour, but the rest have more latitude in setting their schedules now than they will over the next 3 - 5 years on LIV.

The reason they lost to MSU was because Weah fumbled with 1:39 left. Have some self-awareness, man.

Maybe he will return the “favor” the next time UND plays MoSU.
