Great chance on a scrum in front but Maine looses a player to holding. Let's get a quick one before the break.

Sioux have turned it on the last couple of minutes. Murray had a great shift. The first half of the period we couldn't get throught the neutral zone but things are picking up which should play into our favor.

  13. If you log onto NewJerseyDevils.com before 4pm next Wednesday you can submit a qustion to former Sioux player David Hale. On their web page they allow you to submit a question and at the end of the week David will answer twenty of them. So, log in and ask your questions, or check out his answers next week once they are posted. It is great to see some exposure for him.
  14. JPAR all the way to Boston. I think if he continues to play like he did yesterday the role is his to lose. We need a goaltender we can rally around and go all the way. Brandt does has a tendency to flop and Minnesota exploited it last weekend. With his shacky performance Blias went to JPAR. He played a solid game and gave up only a few rebounds. He save from point blank where he kept his feet, came out a little, and made the kick save to the corner was incredible. I belive when jake is on his game he is a better goaltender but i do believe that JPAR is by far a more consistent goaltender. Also when you talk about playoff runs you talk about the goalie that makes the unexpected save and jumpstarts the team, JPAR your my man.
  15. the Game is live on FSSN at least in Bismarck.
  16. It is just sad that they whole Final Five is geared toward Minnesota teams. I understand why they play at night due to the big draw in the area. I do understand their logic but it stinks for fans from UND, wisconsin, or any other state. If you have to work on thursday or friday you have no chance at making any of the games thursday or friday at the X. However, if you are a minnesota fan you have your choice to work all day and drive across town to the game; or go to work and pick up the broadcast from your couch and save yourself some money. If you want to catch the game live; you just take off from work an hour before gametime. I guess my point is this; if fox sports net isn't going to broadcast the afternoon games why not let the SiouxSportsChannel or any other network pick the game up if they wish. Screw the contracts, lets focus on what is best for wcha college hockey and its fans.
  17. It comes down to the fact that we should take the number 1 or the number 2 overall spots into the ncaa's. it can be assumed that those teams will be split: one to the east, one to the west. the only place we might not have home ice is in the ncaa championship game then--if the #1 overall also advances to the finals. at this point i think that may be looking a little too far ahead.
  18. I played a lot of hockey in grand forks these last few years and it might also boil down to techs decisions REA Main Bowl: $200 an hour REA Olympic Ice: $100 an hour EGF: around $75 an hour Why should UND have to pay the money for Tech to practice at the Ralph, they shouldn't. With that in mind, maybe Tech made the call if they couldn't get time on the Olympic ice they would take their practice elsewhere. Blais might have made his comments just to add some fuel to the fire.
  19. You guys are incredible. Let's look at just a few factor here: #1- A team needs a consistent goaltender to rally around and be comfortable in net. #2- At some point a goalie needs to know they are the #1 guy and get used to playing a majority of the games. I have never been a huge Brandt fan, fairly inconsistent (amazing one game, terrible the next) and he does a few things that drives me crazy as a hockey fan--always goes down early, struggles to control the rebound, and after the first shot often times finds himself out of position giving up easy goals. I do believe that JPar has his faults as well but he has accomplished huge tasks. He has beaten major contenders in Boston College, Minnesota, Duluth, and the list goes on. He losses have all been close games minus this last one. He was the one that stole the point from Denver. This last game was a prime example of great defensive breakdowns. To make this short: we need a number one goaltender and as others have stated Brandt has had his chance. He has had his chance two years ago, he had his chance last year, and he was given his chance earlier this year. We need a number one goaltender and Blais is giving JPar a chance. A goalie that has kept them in every game he has played, started out to the best record a UND goaltender has had to start his career, and IMO does a better job of controling rebounds and plays a better position game. All things that tip the scales to him. Plus if it gets down to it the one that wants and deserves it the most you go with the guy who works hardest at practice and off the ice; and it just doesn't sound like Brandt is doing it. When it comes down to it I trust CB and his call; the one that watches every practice along with every game.
  20. Brandt has the experience but i would go with JPar any day. Brandt has the tendency to go down and flop and teams have figured it out. Also, when Jake lets in a bad goal it seems to go in streaks. The last thing that makes me nervous is the fact that he doesn't always control the rebound and with the way the defense has played lately that is a scary combination. JPar has good position, generally does control the rebound, and helps get the puck moving. He definetly is young and has his faults but if you are looking for consistency you can depend on him more.

    Fun With Numbers

May I remind you JPar was defensive player of the week and the sole reason the Sioux won on Saturday night. My bet is Brandt gets the start Friday due to more experience in the "hostile" environment and barring a shutout JPar starts Saturday.

    Officiating

I'm sick of all the talk and nobody every doing everything. Here are three things that should be done in order to get things fixed~ 1) Start a post on each WCHA team that has a message board. The first post in the column should have the list of officials addresses and ask people to "NICELY" email their opinions. 2) Somebody send a tape of the Sioux vs. UAA game to each of the officials, one look at that video tape should do all the talking--if other schools have a similar "Worst Officating in History" game tape they should send it as well. 3) Sit back and hope for positive changes. A good idea might be to write those same officials back if in fact there is ever a game that is officiated "pretty well" so they don't think everybody is just a bunch of complainers. The reason I suggest #1 is if the head officials learn it is more than just Minnesota fans complaining about Vanek being mugged and North Dakota fans whinning that Parise doesn't catch a break things are more likely to happen. #2 is obvious. I don't know how anybody could sit though that UAA vs. ND game and say that it was fun to watch. If UND scores in overtime and wins the game I would still even vote for a few games where the gophers beat us as a more exciting and fun game to watch (i know that is a very bold and difficult statementto make).
  23. They should invite the public with hockey tickets to come early and watch the national championship game at the Ralph on the big screens. They could open up the concessions and everyone could pile in early and just make a day of the events. They hockey tourney is all in the Olympic Arena that day so it would work out nicely.
  24. Not like anybody cares about college baseball anyway, but in high school I made a journey to the state high school baseball tourney at Newman Outdoor Field. I got changed, threw a ball around for 2 min. getting ready for our game, and then the tourney was postponed and moved to bismarck because in an average thunderstorm the garbage cans were floating in about four feet of water in each dugout because the drainage sucked. three cheers to that stadium and my six hours of driving that day.
