Looking at some of the bigger schools in the country it seems that women's rowing seems to be the way to even out the participation prong. Looking at the sheer numbers on B10 rowing rosters and I would wager there are 20-30 girls walking around campus who are unaware they are even on the team.
I am sure they are aware they are on the team. My cousin went to Columbia for track. Went out to visit her and she introduced me to a friend who was on the rowing team. Turns out, the girl did not row in high school. Just had a solid build and the coach told her they'd teach her how when she got there. I'm sure the B1G schools engage in similar conduct lol. Coach needs to put a team together after all...

When I was in high school (07-10) we voted on captains during the preseason....isn't that the norm?

Yeah I am not too worried about NDSU or UND. Affordable schools close to home that are much more respected than St. Cloud, MSUM, and Mankato.

There's now even a movie themed bar and restaurant attached to it.
Not too mention all the other great restaurants within a few seconds walk.
Great for date night.
I dont recall noticing a big difference in the theaters themselves but the area over there is great.

UND might be working on this with something called The 701 fund? This would essentially allow the school to pay key players directly if they get good grades, but I'm not sure if they are allowed to pick and choose if certain players get the money (based on athletic contribution).

Very new. Had a chance to hear your AD and alumni association (I think?) president talk about it tonight at a place in Mandan. Couple of small sport coaches talked too.
Sounded like the plan is to allocate X amount to each team on campus for good grades, retention, etc relating to PAST PERFORMANCE. So I think it was kinda like "you got a 3.1 last semester and you came back for this season, here is X amount." It sounded pretty modest. Nothing huge, but it is something worth trying. If it flames out then it flames out.
Nice thing for UND it sounds like there is a lot of investment going into modernizing indoor practice place and the athletic offices and all that. From reading the board in the past, you guys have complained about that for quite awhile? That'll be nice.
He talked a bit about the new NCAA boss too. Sounded very optimistic that Charlie Baker can get things done to get NIL and such sorted out.
I could've asked some questions after but I figured these guys were there for the UND folks, not me. So I left them alone.

Currently, the only outlier on this is Oral Roberts.
Thats a pleasant surprise NDSU had a bigger endowment than UND.

If I recall about 8-10 years ago state institution(s) were given the opportunity to raise money with a match from the state. I’m a bit hazy on this as I’m getting older, but at the time the state put up the parameters that was not to be used towards athletics. I believe 2 schools did not adhere to that, one was NDSU, the other Dickinson State…. I’m not sure anything came of that either, I know DSU has had a ton of issues beyond that. I believe if it had been UND doing it that way, things would have been on DEFCON with media coverage and various outrage. When it comes to similar situations, it seems one school gets the benefit of the doubt far more often.
I realize that with the Med School, Law, Aviation, Business etc, UND has been incredibly fortunate with what it has received from the state, however it seems it certain instances that UND either gets slightly different treatment(perceived or actual) than it’s neighbor to the south.
I believe the med school and law school are funded separately from the U itself?
Regardless, you listed basically all the programs offered by the university of North Dakota lol outside of education.

That doesn't work well on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.I think it *could* work on a Thursday, if it couldn't happen more than maybe once a year. But yeah, it would not be a great deal.
Wouldn't be the end of the world but there would be large chunks of empty seats for that game.

It doesn't take much of a fanbase to be FBS. MAC teams routinely get smaller crowds than the Dakota schools. It takes funding/money. The way I see it, weekday evening crowds would be largely Fargo locals. Probably not filling up the dome for a Tuesday night game against Akron.

Unofficial side benefit, probably boosts concession sales a fair amountAnother thing to consider is Saturday is not a work day for most. People have more time to get to Grand Forks if coming from out of town, and can get back home at a reasonable hour, plenty of folks got church in the morning.
Friday makes sense to be a bit later. People need time to get to Grand Forks or go home and change, grab dinner, etc. I quite like the way UND times the hockey games.

No biggie with the earlier kickoff. I'll be heading up for it with a UND buddy.
