I love the green helmets for home. And I think black helmets for road. Green jerseys for home. And rotate black and white jerseys for away.

Basically have to wear white on the road.

I don't know for sure, because I don't have data, but I think there are two factors at play here:

    1) In the past, Winnipeg traffic/tourism helped drive Grand Forks to have more amenities than normal for a town of its size.  The Grand Forks restaurant scene really ballooned during the early oil boom.  Oil is (was?) a primary driver of Canada's economy, and for a while, the Canadian dollar was on par with the US dollar.  With American investment in oil, however, the strength of Canada's dollar against the US dollar has settled back to where it had been historically (around 0.75) and can't gain ground on the US dollar anymore when oil is high.

    2) Even though UND is at record enrollment, many of those students are online and not on campus.  When there aren't students on campus, restaurants have harder times filling out staffs.  It seem like most places close because of lack of workers, not lack of customers.

Seems like an uphill battle in general for Grand Forks over past few decades. Did it start with the base shrinking by like 70-80%?

I don't know how anyone would want to open a restaurant in GF. I was born and raised here but this town is so fickle when it comes to restaurants, even decent places come here to die.

Grand Forks is a bit culty for its size.

Harrys has the best cocktails in town by a mile. I think the hate is just for the prices more than anything.

Seems like a likely explanation. Some people dont like nice things.

Looks like the Vikings will be in Dublin and London back to back weeks

Fun vacation opportunity for any women who have been trying to convince their Viking fan husband to take a trip to Ireland/UK.

only a matter of time until somebody sues the NFL over lost revenue for moving games to international venues

Not sure who would be able to do that.

The owners make more money by growing the game overseas. The American market is saturated. The European market is not.

and this folks is why we need it in grand forks

if it was in Fargo people would be turned away

Couple ways of looking at it...a 5k arena at max capacity is probably a better atmosphere than 6500 at a 13k arena or whatever the Ralph holds.

They rotate between GF and Fargo don't they?

get a german guy to come here..........du hast.....

    kid from alabama....sweet home alabama...

endless options and never gets "old and stale"

and you find out when that guy scores his first goal...so for a guy like schmalzt you wouldn't find out until february (then you find out he's a huge chappell roan fan and we hear pink pony club.... :)

I was just gonna say be careful what you wish for lol. Some weirdo goal scoring savant subjects you to a couple seasons of Sabrina Carpenter

He doesn't understand Hockey East has two big schools in BC and UConn and thinks that B1G and Hockey East will separate from everyone with NIL.

UConn is not a big school by many definitions.

Its a small state school that has a great basketball team for whatever reason

Somebody help me out with the GM position. The NC$$ says teams can have a head coach and three assistants. How do you fit in a GM position?

GM is separate. My understanding is they can't be involved in coaching but can handle some of the new era aspects of the program to let the coach focus on his own stuff.

Why aren't we hearing more calling for the AD's job.  It's time.  Over 20 wins and you get fired?  Men's BB not a good season and he's keeping his job??

Wonder if ticket sales will decrease next year??

I think it's important to not just look at wins in men's basketball. These guys are being asked to build new rosters every year.

I don't believe Fighting Hawks athletics would have had a significant amount of Ralph funding, NIL or otherwise

I was about to call you an idiot but then I recognized the importance of words 3 and 4.

That ratio split does seem a bit odd....i know a guy...you could call him "the guy" that wrote a large large check 25 years ago or whatever to save the golf team....

i doubt if he would have wanted 15% of it going to a sport other than golf.

Isn't that a check cut to the school rather than a collective?

With the instant success of many of these new D1 programs, and the overflowing D1 level talent with not enough teams to support them all, and now even more talent flowing in to displace even more D1 level kids, how many new D1 program could we see pop up over the next 5 years?

And honest question, is or should NDSU be considering it? If they were agressive enough and wanted to dominate UND at  yet another sport, I’d be willing to bet they could have a consistently stronger hockey program in place within 5 years if they wanted to. The money, the media, the fan support, the airport, and the Scheels rink already in place (until they build their own)…it could easily be done. What better time than now while UND athletics are on their knees in legitimately every single sport, even hockey. I’d unfortunately have to put my money on NDSU over UND for long term success of a hockey program due to being able to win essentially every aspect. Like it or not, crazy talk isn’t so crazy now days since things have changed so fast and I’d be surprised if there isn’t at least a little consideration happening

Since football and basketball seem to basically be off the table for growth at NDSU, I would like them to look into hockey. I don't see FBS ever happening, and basketball as a low major is done. It seems impossible to retain players. So not sure whether it is worth pumping more funding into that when the results are going to be the same. Regular trips to Frisco and a plausible but unlikely chance at being a low seed in March Madness.

I don't think you'd ever see NDSU be consistently better than UND in hockey. Maybe stretches here and there. I do think a base of support would emerge pretty quickly.
