The student support is a joke; plain and simple! What burns me is the students seem to have the "we have better things to do" mentality, but I know from experience that there really is not. Even if the excuse is that they are partying, the game was at one; you cant tell me that you are drinking from noon to 2 AM on a regular basis.
It just boggles me that no students are showing up. Last Saturday I went to Arizona at Colorado and those students showed up in full force to support a 1-8 team at the time. They were loud and proud and CU pulled it out. In Boulder there are a ton of things to do at any given time and they still showed up.
There is no excuse for UND students not to show up. They are pathetic right now.

How would you like to be the Mountain West? You go from one day being on the verge of a BCS auto-bid with powerful programs like BYU, Utah, TCU and soon adding Boise to the next day being left with San Diego, Wyoming, Colo St, New Mexico and UNLV (of which the latter two are a couple of the worst programs in FBS) and having to add a bunch of WAC schools just to stay afloat.
I suppose it could be worse, they could actually be the WAC.
The WAC will take Boise's non-football sports to go along with Idaho, Seattle, Denver and New Mexico St, La Tech with the new Texas schools. I don't see La Tech, NMSU or Idaho having any other options but to stay in the WAC and make the best of it. Obviously they'll try again to add Montana schools, maybe Portland State?
Port St - Seattle, Idaho - Boise, NM St - Denver, UTA - LA Tech, UTSA - TX St, Mont - MSU
12 bball, 8 football -- they could do worse.
Do you really think Montana and M State are going to move to the WAC now? (this question is being asked with a sarcastic tone)

Expect the MTN to invite Utah State and San Jose State. C-USA will raid the WAC and Sun Belt; but I am not certain enough to even speculate on which teams they will want. I do know that Idaho may be left out to dry and the Big Sky for football may be their only option. Star previously predicted that the WAC will turn into a non-football conference and I think that is exactly the scenario what will play out.

While I acknowledge that there is responsible and irresponsible use of alcohol, I do not believe that there is any such thing as responsibe use of marijuana. It is an illegal substance. In order to acquire it you must find a drug dealer, which is associating yourself with a criminal element. You can't use it socially in public, you have to sneak around and always be looking over your shoulder. Ask yourself are the risks worth the reward. Considering that there is no reward and there are substantial risks, I just don't get how anybody is into that garbage. There is no positive side to marijuana. I wish that 100% of employers would test for it and immediately dismiss anybody who tests positive. We don't need a bunch of Jeff Spicolis wandering throuigh life high as a kite 24/7. I think that Xanex or Valium would be the more responsible way for you to handle your particular situation. You aren't doing yourself any favors with the illegal stuff and honestly I can't believe you actually had the nerve to post on the internet that you use it.

I happen to work for a company that has been invested in by Google Ventures and the Foundry Group and I dabble from time to time because it is a much better and safer stress reliever than booze. It is sad that you feel the need to characterize people because they smoke a plant the naturally grows in the ground. I also have to say that I am much more productive and successful that many of my peers that don't smoke. They do not test us for Mary Jane because it is not a problem! It should also not be considered a schedule 1 drug; although it should be controlled like alcohol because kids should not play with it until they are at least 18 year old adults.
Other than that you are so out of touch with reality. The fact that you think taking prescription drugs like valium instead of a natural plant shows that you have ZERO credibility here. You sound like a Bison fan in denial about us being in the polls!

Maybe we should have a little faith and see if the boys can finish out with two more FCS wins. If we lose them both then yes we should probably hit the panic button. That said I would be lying if I said I wasn't a bit worried. A wise man once told me that in these situations 'time will tell."

That is a good question. At this point if Utah State and SJSU move the the MTN then their best play will be to come back to the Big Sky. I highly doubt conference USA will take them and all of the Sun Belt teams will never want or even afford to travel there. I also doubt the MTN will take them...

It worries me that USF's QB is a FBS transfer from New Mexico State. How good is this kid?
He was a safety an NMSU if that helps. Long story short if we play well we will win. If we take them lightly again we will lose. The game is in our hands.

Can anybody close to the athletic dept. check to see what is going on?
It could be that the students do have the tickets but don't make it to the game for one reason or another (beer). I missed a few games back in the day because the party was too fun to leave. Not a good excuse at all but I would bet on that as a major contributor to lower than average attendance.
The semester tuition for football is a great idea!

LAX is an awesome sport and the Al would be a great facility. I would make sure to plan one of my yearly trips up to Nodak to catch a game. Next year I am going to plan my fall hunting trip to overlap the Montana @ UND football game

Tell me, when you go walking around Colorado, do you see tons of Northern Colorado geer? Do you see license plate references? The Denver market is not some Big Sky-loving area. And the Fargo market has a school that wins. UNC is now 0-8 on the year. This isn't going to get the folks in Denver jacked up for them.
They are bad no doubt. But I do see UNC licence plate things and bumper stickers; not a huge presence in the grand scope but not small either. You really have no idea what you are talking about.

1. Boise State is Big East in Football only. 4 or 5 trips at most. Big East TV money, bowl money and BCS bid.
2. WVU in Big 12 all sports. Big 12 TV money is huge, bowl money and BCS bid.
3. UND in all Big Sky sports. Big Sky TV money?
good one.With that said, I agree that UND did what is best for their university. There wasn't a MVFC invite. You can't leave football on an island. However, to spin it by using FBS or even worse BCS schools as an example that it will work is folly.
These arguments are fine but the kicker is we will make it work quite well and a couple years down the road you will be scratching your head going "gee, maybe we should have taken a chance when we had it."
Time will tell on this of course but I would bet big money on it. Enjoy your bus league; as an alumnus out west I and MANY others are loving this move.

I said their football program is awful year-in and year-out. I find it really funny that you seem to think that you know what the Big Sky's intentions were at the time. No one in Denver watches Big Sky athletics unless they are an alumni and you know that.
How would you know that? Do you spend time here regularly? You are just trying to push your own agenda and use whatever you can to get there. The Altitude Network is on basic cable out here btw. So "nobody" watching here is more people than the Fargo market ever will be; that is a fact.

Probably not as big as the Hockey following but I know that there are a lot of alumni down here. Myself and a couple buddies are coming up from Boulder / Denver to tailgate and watch a big win!

Chartered flights are really not that expensive when you sell excess seats for $700 a pop; playing at least one FBS game per year takes care of the rest. Would you seriously rather sit on a buss for 4 - 7 hours or sit on a plane for 2?
Remember, it is not just about people in GF or Fargo who are butt hurt because they have to travel a little bit. This is more for alumni who are spread out around the western part of the country; there are more than most think. I bet UND has a pretty good showing at UNC this weekend because there are a lot of alumni out here that care. Same can be said for a lot of places in the Big Sky short of maybe Southern Utah.
That said I do wish NDSU was in the league for that game alone.
