  1. According to the Summit League president the Sioux logo was never an issue for him or the league and that President Kelley asked him to make statements that it would jeopardize a possible invite. The only reason USD joined the Summit league is because they couldn't afford the Summit buy out, South Dakota is a state that is hemorrhaging from a bad economy and they couldn't afford to join the BSC at the time because of the Summit. History and hockey has taught us that Sioux fans travel very well and our alumni are spread evenly throughout the footprint of the BSC, so we should be represented nicely at football and basketball games. Don't kid yourself, NDSU would give it's left nut to be in the Big Sky.

We are not in the Sky yet but I can't wait for Saturday's game at Northern Colorado! Last year I was at the CC series in Colorado Springs and at least 40% of the building was Sioux fans. UND's alumni support is very impressive and the Big Sky is a great fit in that regard. Contrary to popular belief but UND grads live in other places than Minneapolis. There is even a bar in Denver that shows all UND hockey games! (I have yet to meet a NDSU grad out here btw)

  2. Huge snowstorm in Colorado today; on the upside this foot of snow will be completely gone by Saturday!

UNC looked really good against Montana State so if we don't play well this could be ugly. That said we can absolutely pound these guys if we come out with a spark and play our game.

    35 - 17 UND

  3. We roadtripped up to Greeley about 8 years ago and tailgated along with the parents of the players. Don't know if it's changed but the parking lot had space for it and the scenery around the stadium was gorgous.

    Awesome, looking forward to Saturday!

  4. It's funny because a couple of weeks ago I asked the question of why doesn't NDSU just come to the Big Sky and people really shot me down. It looks to me that this isn't a crazy idea after all.

If ORU does leave and a team like St. Cloud replaces them why wouldn't them come with us? The Sky would then be arguably the best FCS conference out there. (Idaho would be a great addition as well)

  5. The Boston Globe, which has broken most of the realignment stories from the Big East, is reporting that the Big East, CUSA, and MWC may form 32 team league with playoffs:

    http://www.boston.co...ast_mwc_c-.html

Technically, that new conference could only have a championship game as an extra game. But, if it creatively scheduled to have a TBD conference opponent during its last weekend for divisional championships (as well as #2's playing each other), this could actually happen.

The BCS conferences might be livid.

The setup would steal three schools from the WAC: Utah State, San Jose St, and La Tech.

Say what?? Well what a development. What will happen to the Wac after it gets raided again? Would Montana and M State even think about moving to the Wac at this point?

  6. I think I'd rather follow the NDSU scheduling path than the SDSU brutality. Schedule winnable games at home, finish with no more than 3 conference losses, and take your chances with the playoff selections. Based on last year NDSU is in a position where, depending of course how the rest of the ranked teams shake out, they may have 3 games to give.

They are certainly in good shape this year. That type of schedule is ideal as conference play will take it out of you by the end(Big Sky and MVFC).

  7. UND did have an extra week to prepare(2 extra weeks if you consider the opponent the week before) to practice for the triple option. That can't hurt UND's chances at all.

Absolutely, they bye week is huge when preparing for an offence like this. Plus healing up a bit can only help at this point. I hope both Nodak teams win this weekend!

  8. what they are doing at portlandstate for football is like what we are goinf for hockey. through these doors

But the real question here is why not for football? The hockey videos are great but no question about it football needs more help at this point.

  9. It is my hope and assumption that we will see a new big marketing effort and a revamped in-game experience to coincide with the BigSky next year.

The current in-game stuff at Alerus is amateurish at best.

    My thoughts exactly!

  10. I just cam across this season series that Portland State is doing:http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=1AhimikeE4Q#!

This is such an awesome way to get the casual fan excited! It got me a bit excited about PSU even though I am a devout UND fan. When all we do are those stupid videos during games it really makes me wonder what the marketing department actually does.

What are your thoughts on a video diary such as this? Pretty cool IMO!

  11. You couldn't have said this any better. I graduated on 07 and by then the student support was pathetic. STUDENTS- you live in Grand Forks, ND; what else do you have to do on a Saturday afternoon?

Do not tell me hunting because if you are good you can be cleaned up and ready to go by noon; that is a crap excuse! (I just got back from a hunting trip up there and I hunted Sat morning then went to the Western game; I hunted in Devils Lake BTW)

  12. Should be a great game! I just got back to Colorado from a week off in Nodak and I was able to catch the Western game and then the BC game; I wish that trip was this week bc I really wanted to catch the Poly game!

Will be watching on FCS and I hope to see a full crowd! Go Sioux!

  13. NDSU and UND should be equally funded. I don't care if UND has some expensive programs. You think Pharmacy is cheap? You think all the Ag stuff is cheap? NDSU has done more with less than UND could ever dream of. As for NDSU giving out some waivers, there is a price to pay if you want to have some of the top research in the country, grad students don't like doing work for free. Bringing in one of the best vacinologists in the world costs a bit of money too.

No reason the two schools in the state who are relatively the same size (give or take UND's online "students") shouldn't be funded essentially the same per student.

You are so ignorant. I was going to pick out one thing to correct you on but your whole statement just made me dumber after reading it. You are wrong on so many levels . Just go away. You are worthless!

  14. As sad as it is to say, UND fans should really cheer for him to underachieve the rest of the season, for all you guys know Iowa is not offering anyway but if they are looking, and see stat lines of 10/13 250 yards 4 TD's, they might come knocking and asking if he'd like to be a hawkeye.

I think you are correct; in this situation they essentially get him if they want him. My hope is that they have someone better on the radar, or if they are just recruiting him as depth; meaning that he may see that he will never play so he may not go even if they offer. pipe dreams of course!

  15. We just need to follow Montana and Montana State where ever they go.

Denver, Seattle, Air Force, Boise St, UT-Arlington - rather decent company to be in.

There's actually a rumor among Boise St fans that their administration wants to start hockey. Boise has an arena and a hockey fan base, so its not that far fetched.

If CUSA loses four or more teams, and if the MWC loses AFA and Boise St, four conferences were become a jumbled mess: CUSA, MWC, WAC, and Sunbelt.

There's already war between the Atlantic 10 and CAA ongoing. The A10 wants to take George Mason and VCU from the CAA, while the CAA is trying to poach Charlotte, Richmond, and George Washington from the A10.

I definitely agree that we need to follow the Montana schools wherever they go. If for some reason we cant follow them, is it out of the question to get the 3 other Dakota schools in the Big Sky as a last resort? Maybe now is the time to get serious about upgrading facilities?!

  16. I had tickets to both days, but the Monopoly known as Delta wants $930 to fly into Grand Forks and $850 to fly into Fargo from Denver. I think I will save my money and watch the games on TV at the local bar.

That is way too expensive, I don't blame ya. I am making the drive from Boulder tomorrow afternoon to catch the saturday games. I am also pheasant hunting for a few days so it makes it worth it!

  17. We really do need better home jerseys. Anyone who is reading this who may have some pull internally or know someone that does, should get the point and make a change or request at the very least. Yes the away jerseys with the green helmets do look sharp; we look like a D1 team on the road but not at home...
