I've seen enough good quarterback play to know a good one when I see one. I said the same thing about Brock Jensen when I saw him play in his first spring game. He should've started the first game, he didn't. When he did play you guys were able to make your run and actually score points and not turn it over. Hansen will probably throw for over 3000 yards this year, he is that good.
I hope you are right d00d!

Enough with the suspense already. Let's see them, or at least a mock-up!

I'd like to think a top 3 finish is very attainable. We need to begin conference play with a bang by going into Sacramento and sending a message via crushing victory. If we can start there with some momentum it could be a very promising year! (Plus Sac St people have been very against UND since we entered the Sky so I would like to wipe them all over the field for those reasons too)
-
You dont want to do that because they will want to redistribute it so they can build more 50k water fountains in parks.
Haha nice avatar photo!!

face say hello to palm. this nightmare will never end.

On paper, Cal Poly is probably one of the 3 best teams in the Big Sky. On top of that they by far have the easiest schedule in the league for 2012.
I guess their easy schedule is their consolation prize for not having a televised game on Root Sports.
-
Let's beat San Diego State first; they lost an awesome RB and QB from last year!
I was thinking that since Western Michigan and Miami are in the new hockey conference that we could begin to build a football relationship there. This is probably a pipe dream but try to negotiate a 2 for 1 type of scheduling agreement to get a FBS team into the AL for the first time. Probably pretty far fetched but a cool idea to ponder none the less.

If they really want a pissing match all you need to ask the Minnesota legistators: Want to compare state bank accounts???

I think that regardless of who the starter is we'll see both QB's play into the mix this season. One guy will struggle, and the other will come in for a quarter or a game to try and get the offense rolling.
Hopefully the two do a good job in the fall of mentoring the young man from Detroit Lakes in the fall. I'd say by this time next season we'll be talking about how Mollberg has a great opportunity to take the starting reigns from Bradley.
This is a definite possibility, however I still wouldn't be surprised to see Molberg sitting his redshirt season. Bradley showed us yesterday that he is a true player and will be ready to be the starter for sure his senior year. I was truly having difficulties imagining Joey as the starter his senior year but if yesterday was any indication of the future I think we are in much better position than we have been in some time. As always time will tell and I am really excited to watch this play out!

2,000 fans- not bad! ACC Boston College had only 200 at theirs. things are looking up!

If it is a non conference game like some have pointed out USD will not see much in terms of instant gratification. However I believe they are vying to be "the" football team in the state so if they can achieve more marketability and buzz with this game it will gain them the name recognition that they are looking for.
Now it will take some time for the above theory to play out, but you play that first game to create that buzz; then repeat yearly. I think it is a good move on their part. If Bismarck had a respectable stadium a game there against South Dakota State would be great; but just not in the cards for us at this point.
-
Absolutely correct, I believe Molberg is the guy but also a main reason the major D1 programs eventually backed off was because of his injuries; they do and will continue to happen so depth is vitally important. Healthy competition is a good thing and they will both get their shots.

I really hope a lot of people show up to take in the festivities as well. Last saturday I was at the CU spring game and I think the tailgating was the best part of the day, however the game was not so good but that is par for the course here lately, and our best receiver tore up his knee and is not out for the year so it could be another long season here. I look forward to watching the online feed on Saturday as I am really excited for our Big Sky debut!

Not sure if this has been posted but is interesting and worth a share: http://www.championshipsubdivisionnews.com/log/index.php/2012/04/06/grizvox-sioux-or-sue?blog=2

And what has it done for Gonzaga or NDSU? Explain how destroying the athletic department would hurt UND? Not random statements but empirical evidence. Will the university lose grant funding? Will the university lose students or potential students? Will profesors not be published?
If you were a prospective student and you had narrowed your choices down to a school that has little to no athletics and a school with a strong athletic program, which one would you choose?
I know I would have chosen the school with athletic events that I could attend. (keep in mind that in this example both schools are equals academically)
-
Every last one of them sold their souls. The athletic dept. may still be alive and well at each school, but that isn't the point. The fact of the matter is that they turned their back on their heritage, which is the ultimate display of dishonor.
PS - It isn't "my" soul that I was referring to, it is the soul of the UND athletic programs. To tell UND they can't be the Sioux anymore is like telling Motey Crue they can't be a rock band anymore. UND, you have to play under a different nickname = Motley Crue, you have to change to either rap or country music. That is about how absurd this situation is, to make an abstract analogy.
That's a terrible analogy and you know it.

That gives you a reason to crack open a beer when you wake up. Nursing a hangover in a short time simply requires more alcohol.
That is a valid point. But when I was there in early/mid 2000's, I remember missing a few 1 PM games because I was out too late. I would wake up around 11, which is theoretically is enough time to get to the game, but in reality it really isn't. (now I couldn't sleep until 11 if I tried)
As long as there are no hockey games on those sat nights I am all for the later start times. Plus, in october goose/duck hunters will have plenty of time to hunt and clean up before the night/afternoon games.
-
i thought i was gonna be in the minority about liking the later start times?
i really really like blackout idea also...anything less than a packed house for the montana game will be a huge dissapointment.
Where did you read about the blackout idea? I was just on the Big Sky site and couldn't find anything about this. Yes, if nobody is showing up for that game and the far side seats are empty then it should be blacked out up there. I am optimistic that attendance will pick up.

I don't think that would be admitting that our teams cannot compete with UND when the playing field is level and equal. I think it is admitting that we don't really care for UND and seeing UND's athletic programs fall down hard would be comical, wonderful, and benefit NDSU's all at the same time.
If you had an opportunity to vote on something that would hurt NDSU's athletic program in a variety of ways, you'd probably do it. And also take into consideration that NDSU fans are the reason that you have this opportunity to take them down hard, it'd make it even more funny and sweet for you.
Rather than being mad that some NDSU people are going to vote yes, and ride on them for doing so, you should be going after the "Sioux or Death" crowd who is the reason I, along with the rest of the state of North Dakota will have an opportunity to vote. It would be one thing if NDSU fans started the petition, or made a savethefightingsioux.com so we could stomp out a competitor in the region, but that is simply not the case. Look at the ridiculous fans you have who started the nonsense of fighting to get this on the ballet before you blame the people who get an opportunity to vote on it.
NDSU has been taking it on the chin with funding for some time. I think we'll survive...
You are conveniently forgetting to add that the majority of the petition mongers HAVE NEVER ATTENDED UND, and have no stake whatsoever in UND's success as an institution.

I personally don't like the idea of allowing only North Dakota residents decide this because the vast majority have no connection to the University, or even attended a day. All they know is the big bad bully ncaa is telling us what to do; which is true to some extent but there are so many other details that are not at the surface that the average citizen doesn't know. This is so f'ed up.

Too bad we dont play till 2014, our two teams have never met, and I'd like to see how Weber matches up with North Dakota's finest
I agree. With all of the uncertainties of non conference scheduling I am sure it is not too far fetched to think we couldn't play non conference games in the future when we dont play each other. This year we play Portland State in NC and next year we play Montana in NC.

Interesting article regarding the possibility of splitting up FBS football: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1128319-college-football-2012-splitting-the-divisions-needs-to-happen-sooner-not-later
*it is from bleacher report so not sure how accurate this could be, but rather good food for thought.
