I have a BA and and MA in sociology and most of the faculty at UND was against the Fighting Sioux nickname. I was told by one of my students that an unnamed UND professor Curt Stofferhan left one of his class early one time to go protest against the Fighting Sioux nickname. If I was paying that teacher to teach me in that class I would have been upset.

Never happen, most of these clowns that threw UND under the bus probably have tenure which basically means they would've had to commit some crime or be charged with misconduct to be fired.

Some buffoon suggested this week on my blog that we are responsible for LSSU's plight.

Oh yeah that's right. My bad, I didn't think of that...

Why can't they, that is a very good question no one would even have to travel and there wouldn't be an unnecessary expense of 6,000.00 on the state tab.

Lets not forget that UND has already had discussion with BSU as well.

I have to give you a 1+ for that comment... I find it funny how they President of SCSU says he will not join the new league but expected to be invited to join. I thought that comment was kind of self serving and he was assuming a lot.

Wow! Talk about an article that was all doom and gloom, DeLand definitely didn't see the silver lining in this at all. I do now after reading this; know how SCSU gets the nickname Jan Brady State University. While SCSU might be a great 4th or 5th place team yearly in the WCHA In my opinion they aren't on the same footing/standing as the 7 teams that are leaving the WCHA... I also keep hearing MU over SCSU and why? Miami University is a MAC school in a division I league, SCSU is in the NSIC and not very good in a watered down Division II league, they almost dropped football. I keep hearing that the reason SCSU wasn't asked to join the others at the table was their stance on the nickname. I can't see that being a reason for not being invited to the NCHC.

I was thinking more on the angle of heart paddles and cardiac kids.

Michigan Tech spent 250,000 to hire their new coach. I think that might put them in the serious program department...

I agree they will be "big dogs" but for some to suggest that they are going to weild all of the power like some have suggested is short sited. Some have also suggested some how that these programs have sold their sole is silly...

I have read where a lot of people don't understand how Miami and UMD can get in over an SCSU but you have too look at it this way... SCSU almost canned their football program, they are not committed to hockey and sports like the 6 programs in the new program are... On the other hand UMD has a lot of Mojo right now fresh off two NCAA titles in Football and a title in Hockey their stock couldn't be higher, add a new hockey arena it was a no brainer to add them to this league... Miami is a MAC school and committed to winning and has a solid hockey program... I look at SCSU as more of a middle of the road team in the NSIC and hit or miss in hockey... I woldn't call SCSU a power house hockey program either. If the SCSU President was serious about being in the new league he would have kept his mouth shut like WMU did...

While there might have been a "Love Feast" if you think that "ONLY" UND and DU are pulling the strings I would have to respectfully disagree with you. This is a package deal, I can't see Dean Blais or Scott Sandelin being patsys... I am also tired of UMD, C.C. UNO and Miami getting a pass while UND and DU are seen as the villians in this deal. UND and DU don't weild anymore power than the other schools.
