  1. Dean Blais brought this up this morning on KKXL 1440 that I thought was really interesting. Against the team that  UND that are currently behind (UAA and MSU-Mankato) UND got a total of 1 out 8 possible points at home that is why UND is in this pickle they are in now... ;)  :(  :)

  2. Tim, you have to remember that these are the beginnings of the 'glory years' for UAA. :)

I watched part of the Gopher/Badger game on Friday night and heard something interesting... "The Sioux were going into Duluth this weekend having penciled in four points." ---> Doug Woog. Where did he get this idea? I didn't hear that from anyone connected to the UND team

Whatever happens this weekend, I would love for the Sioux to have to travel to Minnesota for the first round and knock off those arrogant cake-eaters. If the Goofers don't get a bye, they are going to have trouble making it to St. Paul. It would be fitting for the Sioux to take that opportunity for a bye away from them.

I am not sure where Wooger got his information, but remember he likes to take a shot at UND any time he gets a chance so be it.

I would love nothing more than to see UofM or any of the top team get knocked out of the final five. I would make a statement about the strenght of our league...

  3. Apparently there's a lot of optimism here about getting 2 points off Denver.

I think if UND could get 3-4 points they could be set. DU is not God either they are very vulernable and beatable. DU however is a very good hockey team...

  4. Does anyone know how tiebreakers are handled, if there is more than a two way tie. Assume two way is head to head.

Sprig if we don't beat out UAA, UofWisc, MSU we are screwed they have the tie breakers... UAA by head to head a (0-1-1) records, UW (3-1-0) MSU-Mankato (2-1-1)... UND is like so screwed. I wish we could play C.C. or UofW...

What is ironic is the fact that you don't seem to feel the need to challenge anything I said. That tells me that you aren't the least bit ashamed that your coach has little or not committment to the kids he brings in. Unless they "live up to expectations" then they are just fodder for any other kid that the coach decides is more worthy of the scholarship? If that is what your coach is about then I'm sorry for any kid that plays for him regardless of their own particular level of talent. Go ahead and pile up the championships at the expense of kids that thought there was some measure of an implied agreement when they got recruited.

Any kid that goes to play for Dean Blais gets what he deserves. If nobody comes behind him that has more potential to live up to lofty expectations then the experience that kid has will be fine. Marginal kids in your coaches eyes aren't worthy of his efforts to develop their skills. Coaching in NCAA sports should be about enhancing the student-athlete's experience not just about winning championships at all expense. Happy with your Bobby Knight? Good for you then. I tend to think that disciples of Knight's twisted vision of coaching aren't worth p!ssing on if they were on fire.

In case any of you have seen this, this was posted on USCHO, this is what some of UND fans have been fighting and listening too all season, its called jealousy/program envy, ( I liken it to being part of the Oakland Raiders/Dallas Cowboys/Miami Hurricanes programs) everyone hates us or is jealous of our hockey program and some extent our other sports programs because we ussally kick everyone's @$$ and thats fine.

JK pretty much had a retort of DTP that was priceless/awesome totally awesome, it was priceless because it was so true, sad thing is that I had forgotten all about the 1997 team and the fact that it had a lot of players no one wanted (Smurfs I believe was what they were called), they were too small and know one knew who they were, nobody wanted them. In fact I had forgotten some of the points until he brought them up again.

From time to time when I am feeling down I watch the UND 1997 and 2000 NCAA title games, they just seem to bring up good memories. Last spring My wife when were moving asked me if I wanted to throw the tapes of the NCAA title games

  6. Might as well get this one going. Big weekend for UND this weekend. Gut check time.:) Time to make a move or get the golf clubs out. Any thought. I think that UND can beat the Pioneers if they play tough inspired hockey. Denver doesn't have a lot of fire power, and play a boring defensive of hockey. Minnesota beat them with an up tempo style of play.

  7. Most probably the NC$$ could not force a school to retroactively change their name/logo.  Schools have a vested, financial interest in their names/logos and I really doubt the NC$$ would want to fork over the $$$ to compensate the schools for that lost revenue, not to mention what the NC$$ takes in from licensed merchandise.

As a resident of Minnesota, I'm kind of glad that the state is having budget problems.  It should provide for cuts at different universities, including St. Clown and Mankato, as well as tuition increases.  Maybe these little dirtbags will finally understand what it means to live in the "real world."  They probably won't have time to "educate" us, if they have to work a real job. :)

  8. http://www.grandforks.com/mld/grandforks/news/2721812.htm  I'm assuming that UND and the Illinois Illini are the targets of this resolution.  I think the  most irritating part of the whole issue is the silence from UND administration and/or NDSB of higher education.  Is silence the normal response when this type of debate "rages" on?   Do any of you know how the administrations of other schools in similar circumstances (ie. Florida State, Utah Utes) respond to groups like MnSCU?  Do they have a policy of "ignore them, they eventually go away"?  Do they have a "generic" press release that they send out which lists such things as PERMISSION TO USE THE NAME FROM A TRIBE, academic opportunities, tradition/heritage, etc....  It's Friday, I shouldn't be in such a crabby mood!!!
  9. I have heard the Sioux will play in the Ice Breaker next year

    Vs Michigan. Rumor?

As for the X-Mass Tourney(yet to be named) Teams that

might make up the field. BSU,Uof Manitoba,Uof Alberta. Not the

best field but when two are from north of the border, I think it will be a little ruuuuuff. :)

    Riverman,

The Holliday Tourney will be as I heard from the Coaches show and from an insider in Bemidji, that the Tourney would be UND vs Yale in the first semfinal game and BSU and Harvard in the other semi.

Then the championship game and the thrid place game.

  10. Went to sugars bar after the game on Friday and Sertich sat right behind me at the next table. Man that guy sure has  lost some hair in the last couple of years.

The hit on Leinweber was a big time penalty that went uncalled, feel bad for him because he didn't play too bad, got an assist and then knocked out of the game.

  11. While I'm glad that we got the sweep, anything less would have been more disgusting than blowing the Saturday Minnesota game, I'm not surprised by the close score.  I think Friday was an abberation on both ends.  I suspect MTU played a tighter game Saturday, and the Sioux may have been a bit lazy too.

MTU, Actually lined up at the blue line and clogged up the neutral zone pretty effectively, it appears that MTU might have had a pep talk from Sertich.

I am satisfied  and I thought it was an ok game to watch, UND didn't make a lot of mistakes and I was satisfied, especially since SCSU only won both games by one goal. It was cool to see UND raise the sticks at center ice after the sweep, we made sure to watch it and enjoy the minute...

I think UND played ok, its hard to come back after a shellacking like the night before. Brandt made some great saves... We were surprised to see Siembeda in the third period. Brandt got the save of the game as he made a big save in the second period, that really helped the Sioux. Love Brandts new mask...
