  1. I don't ussually remember plays but I think of the three seniors, Kevin and Jason stick out in my mind because they were top players from game one at UND. Kevin: Except for Panzer and Blake, I don't think I have seen a harder/faster/better skater at UND, I have been watching Fighting Sioux hockey since 1993. Just my opinion. Kevin never quits. Scores big goals at big times. I too thought the one against Ryan Miller was huge, a defining moment. Kevin plays great defense. Speedwack... I will miss him, and his sizzling plays that make you go hmmm... Jason: Not very big but tough as nails. Jason remind me of former NHLer Kenny Linesman type player (wore #13 for the Boston Bruins). Jason really earned my respect when he wouldn't take the extra bull s... from some of the tougher guys around the league. Went toe to toe with Westrum a few years back, I thought at the time it was crazy. Didn't back down from anyone. Over the last four years I really liked the line combination of Kevin and Jason on the penatly kill or as a forward line. Where one was the other one wouldn't be too far behind on the ice... Never quits either, motorman... Chris: I like the fact that he stuck with it for 4 years, very commendable in my opinion. Shows a lot about his character.

I heard something to that, however, I think Kasey is going to play some Jr Hockey first. I guess one could make the argument that you can never have enough goalies. Oh yeah one more thing from the coaches show. Apparenlty UND fans want a walk out or a strike in the NHL, in two more years the collective bargining agreement in the NHL is going to expire. So it appears the maybe a work stoppage in the NHL. If that happens Blais said that more than likely Zack would still be here. Come on NHL strike...

  4. Sounds like Club Seating. Also sounds like a good deal since i got mine for $115.00. One of the good things about club seating is that there are less people in line for beer and using the bathroom and there are better food courts.
  5. Ok, so its either that SCCC and MTU are really bad, or some how the dirty Badgers have some how miracously gotten very good and found some game all of a sudden. I think its the later that SCCC and MTU are really bad... I watched UofW play C.C. and Minnesota and the Badgers couldn't even cycle the puck out of their own end, the badgers were brutal. If UND does sweep them I am going to be disapointed.
  6. I think it is time for UND fans to start thinking about UND beating the Dirty Badgers. We can talk about goaltending and poor play by some players after the season...
  7. Fair enough. Actually on second thought, screw it, this is a UND message board (Not POI) and on this web page it is a PRO-UND forum, I think one should be able to defend Coach Blais and the UND hockey teams especially when it is maligned by oppositon team's fans. I don't think we need to take suggestions from oppostion fans on what should be discussed on this web page. On second point Most UND fans, includeing myself mind their P's and Q's when visiting the POI web site. I have no problems with Coach Blais's coaching philosophy and will defend him when maligned in the message boards. So there... Maybe we should have the same standards when it comes to yanking posting priveledges as the POI...
  8. I think the coaching philosophy you have brought up is wrong and flawed, your saying a coach shouldn't cut a player if he doesnt pan out, as long as he is good citizen, no matter how bad he plays. Yikes. Whatever... So in theory your saying we recruits a player and he has two misserable seasons we should stick with him, not cut him or any ammount of his scholarship funding, this in theory will not allow that said coach to recruit someone else to fill his spot on the roster... That is utter non-sense...

    Call Up's

Hey Siouxfan in Boston, great win for the B's tonight, I got the hockey package this year and the bruins have not done good since I got NHL center ice. Bayda assisted on Ronny Francis goal 15 seconds into the third period and I thought here we go again. Any word on Lee Goren? Is he still in Providence?
  10. Clayton very well spoken man. To address the issue further, if you monitor the USCHO board you will see that players are being shown the door all over the place so we are not talking about a new concept. Findlay from the CHA just sent 6 players packing last week. I also don't think any of us are calling for a house cleaning, I would say there are probably just a few areas that will probably be addressed in the off season.
  11. I was thinking more like maybe this guy should put the pipe down and sober up and go to school. Clueless, I think Phils size is not an issue...

I think that is a great idea Sica. I think going back to Juniors has done wonders for Quinn Fyling. I don't know how anyone else feels but I think Fyling has played well this season. In fact I have noticed his play has improved no matter what line he plays on. I think he played well in this past weekends games, he probably could be a 40 point a year guy his next two seasons. I posed the question earlier why not bring Phil next season? Phil has shown he can play at the Junior level.
  13. Hammy, I am not saying I want Blais to cut every player/goalie that fails to live up to the level of play that is expected of him. Kids are going to be "Recruiting Busts", I think right now this might be the case with a few of our young goal tenders. But where do you cut your loses and keep coming back with a person that can't for what ever reason cut the mustard and play at a level that is expected of a Division one Caliber player. Where does the relationship end, and both parties go their separate ways. UND and UofM are I think Bench Mark Programs in the WCHA. (The hell with the Dirty Badgers), If people want to call that cocky, so be it. Bench mark teams should be able to have great goaltending. I can't for the life of me think of why a top recruited/ranked goalie wouldn't want to be the guy that helps a team win banner number 8? I look at the Ralph and think who wouldn't want to skate out on the ice to play UofM or B.C. in front of 12,000 screaming fans. At times that place has rocked. It was like a morgue for most of the weekend. You see what I am getting at? Who wouldn't want to play in front of 10,000 screaming/rabbid Gopher fans. Who wouldn't want to go into Marriucci and beat the Gophers? Sure Grand Forks is not the best place in the world but, I think the hockey atmosphere is awesome in GF. Winter here suck... I do however think the goaltending is a major problem this season. If the coaching staff stays with the current crop of goaltenders, I hope they don't, add to that equation, Lane S can't play again because of injuries, we are in a rough future at least for next season. I think Ranfranz could play and play at a level that is exceptable... But I am miffed why he didn't play yesterday? I feel bad for Marc... People including myself maligned Hauser but he won a ring. I have to admit, this season has been miserable to watch even more painful that last season. What makes it even more miserable is that at times this team has played great at times like yesterday only to have happen at the end of the game, happen. I feel in my heart that no way UMD should have won yesterday, the breaks just didn't go UND's way. When I first saw UND play UofM this season I thought that UND was the better team. But I wouldn't make that argument today. Like PA and DUBAY said UofM is a NCAA top seed. I think UND is on the bubble, I guess we need to rally the troops and get behind them. I hate to say this but maybe UND needs to resort to a 1-2-2 to keep the shots down. I hate that kind of hockey. On to your last question. When a player leaves I am sad but happy for them too. I was happy to see Ryan Bayda playing for the Canes the other night. I like to see WCHA players go and do well at the next level, Blaker is having an awesome season. Good for them. I think Ryan would have looked great on the 1st line with Zack and Brandon. Wow. I know also I can't wait for Zack and Brandon to be on a line with Brady Murray (I think thats his name) next season. I mean if you have a chance at the money you have to take it. I expect these players to leave and I think others do to. I say good for Leo for staying another season, it shows and speaks of his character and loyalty. Oh by the way I love seeing Leo playing in the NHL. He was one of my favorite Gophers after Brink. Also, I don't fault Taffe for going to the AHL/NHL. I say good for him. So people don't like it. Thats life.

How accurate is the report that Ziggy has turned down a Scholarship to walk on at UND. I mean really nice story but has it been verified. Maybe someone close to him can confirm or deny this rumor...
  15. I wounder if the games will be on in Grand Forks or not. I remember in 2000 the cable company had the games on because they there on FSN Wisconsin. Mabye the fans need to bomb the Midco net to get the games on...
  16. Tell the team losing is not an option. Refuse to let the dirty Badgers beat us. Does anyone know if the game is going to be on Television.
  17. Jk, I think you might be missing the point. Scholarships are renewed each year after the end of the season much like the rest of the work world, it is a contract and a reward. If you do a good job you get rewarded, if you can't preform you move on. It is not implied that a player will automatically get 4 years of college scholarship, just for excepting a scholarship offer. That is Gopher Logic. It is also possible that some players might also be asked to take a reduced scholarship. Wether this happens or not I have no Idea... I feel that UND Owes Josh nothing. Josh have been given ample opportunity to preform and hasn't. I not sure why UND has to keep playing him in hopes that he might get better... If a player can not play at a level that is expected of a goalie in a top caliber division one hockey team, they could/should lose their scholarship. Nor should the school be expected to keep funding this education. If he loses his scholarship would be justified. UND has some tough decisions to make this off season. Do they want to keep players that can't contribute or do they move on and pick up somone else? It will be interesting. One will they pick up another goaltender. As was mentioned earlier UND was looking at a goaltender from Canada, but he signed with Wisconsin. I think its safe to assume that Blais is going to keep looking for a goaltender. I have watched almost everygame since 1993 and this is by far the worst goaltending I have ever seen UND have. Its brutal.

Here is a profound thought, good bye Sofie, we owe him nothing you have done nothing, good bye Brandt and Siembieda thanks for playing, you just didn't do it when you were called upon. I think it is time for UND to move on in the goalie department get some new blood in there and move on. I am sorry but this team is loaded and goal tending is holding them back. Maybe UND needs to go to Canada and get a top flight goalie from Western Canada.

Scott, don't take offense to this but the last goal that UMD scored was brutal, Siembieda was way out of position. I am not sure what Josh was thinking but he was laying on the ice before the shot was even taken. After watching last nights ND high school hockey tourney, if UND is not recruiting Moreland they are wrong. The kid shutout three teams in the tourney. I don't care what anyone else says, and you can flame away, but Josh doesn't deserve to play anymore period, I was at today's game and his play was brutal. I have no idea why Ranfranz shouldn't have been given the start today. On the first goal Josh was doing a pirouette in the goal crease. Brutal, second goal, I dont' remember, third goal unexceptable. Laying on the ice before the shot was taken. You can not expect these guys to win with out good goaltending. By the way the defense play great today in my opinion.

I like the fact we only have to play Mankato once next year, I am tired watching that team play against UND. That match up bores me, I am excited we get a chance to play UofM twice next season. That is great...
