How can that be on the table when the minimum criteria calls for 8 years experience and Fruechte has 7? An internal hire would further illustrate the bush league management of this athletic department.

So far this season, yes it is.

An internal hire for a program that has been average at best for several years is totally unwarranted and indefensible. It would smack of bargain basement budgeting, which has plaqued this athletic department since we moved up to Division I. It's time we step up and get serious about the FB program. Enough screwing around.

Denver has won 3 of them since our last in 2016. That is the statistic that grinds my gears the most. And don't think it doesn't matter in recruiting.

That would be ridiculous. Why announce a nationwide search and then go internal? It's worked really well for WBB, right? (sarcasm)

Faison had some bright spots. The other two? Not so much.

Buning, Faison and Chaves. All with underwhelming records of hiring.

If they still haven't decided by Monday, then I will start becoming concerned.

It's all speculation anyway. I am curious about who ends up on the short list.

I think it will be a current Division 2 head coach in the Upper Midwest. The criteria points in that direction.

But since you asked the question, losing your coach to an FCS program is a testament to the recent unprecedented success of Bemidji State football. Kind of like NDSU losing coaches to FBS programs. I do think Bolte will end up on the short list, FWIW.

Chaves has a very poor track record of hiring coaches. That is why people are skeptical.

This could be a sign or just a coincidence.

I think it will be a head coach of a lower division school (D2, NAIA) in the Central Time zone. The criteria seems to point in that direction.
