Okay, it is good to know they are upping the support for FB. The next concern (not now, but in a couple of years) will be keeping Bubba and/or his assistants from leaving for better jobs.

They didn't want to give up 1st downs, let alone points. There literally was nowhere to run and nowhere to hide if you were a QB or RB trying to move the ball against them. They were worth the price of admission all by themselves.

The 1996 team was loaded from top to bottom, but stumbled out of the gate with a 2-3 start (including the infamous Pat Behrns-ordered last-second touchdown in our embarrassing 26-7 Homecoming loss) and missed the playoffs. I really felt that team could have won it all if it weren't for that terrible start.

I agree with you, it is people like geaux_sioux that are making excuses for Mussman. Can anybody verify whether or not resources given to FB have increased during Bubba's tenure? I am guessing there hasn't been a dramatic change.

You were implying it when you said Faison gave Mussman a shoestring budget to work with. I honestly don't think it would have mattered what budget Mussman had to work with, the mess he left for Bubba to clean up was epic to say the least.

You just posted several of the sorry a$$ excuses that have been used by people to explain the poor attendance at our FB games (even our very important FB games) over the years. And I refuse to accept any of them. ZERO excuse we shouldn't have 8,000 to 10,000 for this game. Z-E-R-O

If you really believe that we would be talking about hosting an FCS playoff game as the #7 seed with Mussman still at the helm, then you are living in a different sports world than most of us.

Considering you were one of the posters on here lobbying for Mussman to keep his job, this comment isn't worth as much as you think it is.

This game will be on national cable television, so we won't want a bunch of empty seats.

The game vs. Montana was against a weak Griz team. The game vs. USD was exciting, but it also prolonged the Mussman regime.

I think any game in the Mussman era should be disqualified from consideration.

It had better be at least 8,000, with a good shot at 10,000+. No reason not to make this game a priority.

Outrageous! They need to come up with a Pairwise-style rating system for FCS so that actual numbers are used instead of giving certain teams auto-bids for being 6-5 every year. Something smells fishy with that.

And it is important to point out that the Slummit is NOT a "bus league", despite what some people will try to tell you. The distances are shorter than the Big Sky, but there still is significant travel involved outside of the Dakota schools. The days of a true "bus league" ended when the NCC did.

I am in Brainerd visiting my girlfriend and the roads are not good here. Talked to someone in town for youth hockey tomorrow and the roads are really bad from the Cities to Brainerd. Thankfully, I don't have to go anywhere until Sunday.

I think we would get the Big Sky auto-bid. Beyond that, I am not sure.
