Why is it that about 5 minutes after they announced the Fargodome was getting new turf, there was a press conference with a picture showing what it would look like. Its been months since they announced the Alerus was getting new turf and we haven't seen any pictures. What gives? Must be locked up in the same safe that the playoff hockey jerseys are in!!

The time to do it is AFTER the Sioux receive the championship trophy, they Should all pull off their sweaters and expose fighting Sioux forever t-shirts. Then if the NCAA wants to try to take our title away they can go ahead and see how that works for them.

The NCAA said Florida State had to get the Seminole tribe in Florida to approve the name. They did. So the NCAA approves it. The NCAA said that UND had to get both Sioux tribes in North Dakota to approve the name. They both did not. So the NCAA doesn't approve. What ;s not to get? I am ot trying to defend the NCAA on this, but the facts are the facts. Had we gotten approval from both tribes, the team would be wearing their Sioux jerseys this weekend with the name and logo on it. If anyone brings that sign, they will look pretty dumb, in my opinion. UND had their window of opportunity, but they didn't succeed. I get it. Most other logical people do to.

I agree with you on that. Love the place for the beer, but the burgers aren't anything special IMO. Green Mill, Five Guys and even Buffalo Wild Wings burgers are much better than JL Beers IMO.
You listed 4 chain restaurants as better buyers than JL Beers!! That's just crazy! JL wipes the floor with any of those places any day!!

MissSioux and I are looking for some sign ideas for the Final Five. Looking for ideas to poke a little fun at Minnesota, Duluth, as well as Denver. We've also got ideas for Sioux players. We just thought we'd field some ideas from here if anybody's got anything!
Bow up a picture of google maps giving directions from Mariucci to the Xcel. and have something like "Directtions" or "in case you forgot the way" on it!

Very surprised also that Weber is not in the NIT, actually thought they may have a shot at the big dance. Also, surprised Utah Valley is in the CIT. Thats 2 out of 6 teams from the Great West in the CIT. Would be nice to play Weber in this CIT to once again see what we need to do for the next 2 years to be competitive in the Big Sky.
Typically the only mid major schools that get invited to the NIT are those that done their conference regular season championship, but did not win their conference tournament championship. (Oral Roberts for example).

If Montana wins tonight, we will have beaten 2 NCAA Tournament teams this year. Pretty sure that has never happened!! Not a bad feather to add to our cap for this season!!

I was wondering about the scheduling at Final 5 on Thursday? Some think that the higher TV draw gets the later game and other think it is pre-scheduled. Anyone have any info?
Based on last years schedule I don't think it is a TV draw. Last year UMD vs BSU was early and CC vs UAA was late. Seems to me the first game would be much better for ratings/attendance.
Thing is UMD was the #3 seed last year. So is it always 3 vs 6 early because the winner has to play the early game on Friday vs the 2 seed?
I know the right answer is to go to all the games, but I just cant swing 2 days off in one week. Hoping to take off Friday and see UND play the late game Thursday night.
Its all about the Benjamins at the Final 5. that is why there is the "Minnesota rule" They get the night games because they want miximum attendance. I think that there is an unoffical "North Dakota rule" where the WCHA would want to maximize attendance an viwership for UND since they have the second biggest following at the Final 5 behind Minnesota (when they are there). So I guess I would assume that they would move the UND game to the night game, but who knows.

These Democratic leaders visiting the Alerus are jinxing our team!! They are bad luck!! The 4 years prior to Obama and Hillary visiting the Alerus, our football team was 42-10. Since they were there, our football team is 23-20. This is no coincidence. Who knows what kind of damage having Slick Willy in the Alerus will do to our team!!

Correct, I know there were three committees and I am not sure what their specific names were. I believe it was Bruce Smith, Aerospace Dean, who said they couldn't even consider a nickname that is representative of a person. It's dissapointing, but quite frankly I agree. It'll only open the door to comments of "how come it's fine to use Teddy Roosevelt", for example, "as a mascot, but not a sioux warrior?"
I'm hoping it's just "University of North Dakota" . . . nothing else is necesary.
Nothing else is necessary, but the NCAA requires that we have a new nickname. I am sure the NCAA feels that if we do not select a new nickname, than we will still be unofficially the "Fighting Sioux" and they don't want that. A new name will come eventually. Hopefully we can select an appropriate one.

Critique this combination. I believe black pants and green jerseys look great together. Keep in mind, one of the most obvious problems the uniforms have had the past couple seasons is the mismatched green between the helmets and jerseys. By adding black helmets to this combination (green jerseys/black pants), I believe UND football would have a very sharp football uniform.
I like!! I agree with your statment about the helmets. Needs to match the jerseys. Going with black helmets with a jersy that looks similar to what you have come up with would be sharp. New conference, new field, new beginnings for UND football. Starting off with a new look would add to the buzz that is already happening for next season!!

school colors green white and black. its not like black is some random color choice, its becoming a signature of our programs and looks great. stop acting like those beautiful sharp and mean black jeaseys are like those piss poor mustard stained NDSU third jearseys. we would look amazing in all black and the players would be absolutly jacked to play in that uniform. and we could get a little blackout promo at the Alerus to get the fans involved
Agreed. We have used black in our jerseys for years. It is one of our colors. Other teams have used black as the primary color for their 3rd jersey for years. Time for the football team to try it out. The idea of a black out is a great idea!!!

I think this week's Bracketology will have UND going to Worcester to play BC in the first round. True bracket integrity would have Merrimack vs. BC, which can't happen in the first round. I don't see them swapping Air Force & Merrimack since that's not fair to the #1 seed overall (Duluth). Here's my attempt for this week:
St. Paul
1 Minnesota-Duluth vs. 16 Air Force
7 Minnesota vs. 9 Union
Green Bay
3 Michigan vs. 15 Merrimack
6 Mass-Lowell vs. 11 Michigan St.
Bridgeport

The Bridgeport attendance would be brutal. You could swap Union & Northern Michigan.

Earth to JohnboyND7 : There is a world outside of the state of North Dakota. Until the Sioux and/or Bison start to develop players who make the kind of impact on the NFL that Crosby and Ovechkin have made on the NHL, this isn't even debatable.
The fact that this argument deals with two different sports and different levels makes in undebatable. Can we just end the "biggest sporting even in North Dakota" debate?! Seriously, getting lame. Thanks

When did this turn into a Wold Junior discussion? Can't we all just agree that the World Juniors in 2005 was a big event in North Dakota, and that Sioux Bison football games are also big events in ND. Why compare the two to see which was bigger?? No one is ever going to win. You are comparing two sports played at different levels. This is so stupid!!!!!

Only thing that would make the UND/DU game on NBC Sports in HD better would be if Doc Emrick was calling the game!!! I don't think he is, but that would be awesome!!

Everyother year, early in the season before conference play starts. Get these games scheduled already!!! Here, let me help: Saturday September 13th 2014, Fargodome. Saturday September 10th, 2016, Alerus Center. Saturday September 8th, 2018 , Fargodome. Saturday Sebtember 12th, 2020, Alerus Center.....and then do that every other year till the cows come home!!!

My guess is NDSU will have to bite the bullet and go on the road to play an FCS team. I don't see them bringing in a D2 or NAIA team and only have 10 FCS games. Hopefully this will be a eye opener for the schedule makers at NDSU. There is an OAC FCS team 70 miles away that is willing to come to your place. Only thing they ask in return is that you play at their place!!

No kidding. And the fact is they had their green road jerseys that just say "North Dakota" since the beginning of the season!! Not sure why they couldn't take a picture before practice one day to get that in the program. First NCAA playoff game for our womens team and they were not even in the program. Unfortunate to say the least.
