Goofer fans will wear 0.6 shirts and jerseys for years....itll hurt itll bring back the memory and rub a little salt in the wounds. Gotta be honest we would probably do the same thing. Kinda do with the HC jerseys.....its all part of the rivalry. ....I dont think its all that bad....they won this one they get the rights to it. God knows we will get our turn back. As for the riots....im willing to bet a large % of those UM rioters actually did think they won the "ship"...judging by the empty seats at ucci it appears hockey interest is down....anyone who has ever been there and listened to their fans knows the hockey knowledge is down.

Watched the Bismarck bobcats game last night. Im excited to get Yon in the Sioux program...he seems like he has some great tools. You can sense he seems bit bored with the game at the NAHL level....he was very good with the puck and attacking the net for the most part. But for the rest of the game he seemed to glide around and basically hang out on the blue line until they could get the puck to him in the neutral zone. Some defensive presence but not much displayed. It looked almost as if just didn't give a crap unless he had the puck Once he had the puck....WOW what a shot. It will be very interesting to see how he does next year at the USHL level. Bobcats win their first round series so at least one more chance to watch him locally.

This is the type of start to a season that fuels the passion to never let it happen again.

I doubt it the ncaa is meticulous on logo policing. From water bottles to cans of certain soda makers...a Sioux logo violation would mean an ineligable player or worse if think. But you cant take the fighting Sioux out of their hearts!!!!

This is exactly why I think either Rau or Grimaldi leave......and I think Rau I don't see Florida investing too much in the undersized forward area when they already roll that role in the system a bit . I can see them wanting Grimaldi to leave now as if he stays one more season they take the chance of him using the free agent market clause...but I think education is important to Rocco and his desire is to see nhl ASAP....that means the free agent route gives him the best option to pick his franchise fall of 2015..after he hangs 9. I can see Rau wanting to get the jump on the chance into the system as to not have to compete with Grimaldi in Florida system as they are similar and we all know Rau is a little selfish beeAtch so I can see him jumping right away at up the chance to get the inside edge in floridas system.... I say she signs with Florida Friday.

My Thoery CC and Owens mutually agreed to end it right after the season. Which usually means it was more CC and less the coach but everybody takes the high road. CC already had Guentzel in mind if not locked up but everybody was not saying anything till UMtc season was over. Owens just couldn't bring himself to dance a dog and pony show along at the awards banquet and informed the AD he was going public with the announcement. But who knows....

My dad started taking me to games in the early 80s....82 it seems from the torn ticket stubs stuck in my childhood scrapbooks along with pins and buttons and programs of games gone by. The memories of the old ralph and that glorious smell of hockey ingrained into the cement under alternating green and white seats is something ill never forget. the whooping and hollering of my dad when the Sioux scored.....dropped a huge hit....or got into a scuffle.....looking up at dad and sharing the pure joy of the moment with him was such a special time. Dad isnt gone but does live far away now but now I take him to games when it works out in madison or our trip to the mariucci I remember running out on the ice to pick up all the plastic cups after a game. We went to the last playoff game at home in 87 and after dad stood by and let me get every player to sign their name by their pic in the program.....still have that in the safe. I love to take my sons now to the game and watch them jump in joy when a goal is scored. ....or a big hit....or a scuffle on the ice. ......in a way, in those moments, my dad is there too...with us, one joyous memory intertwined with the present. An experience shared beyond a single game but generationally,..a tradition....a love Sioux hockey that cant be taken from him from me from my sons by any organization or retirement. The Fighting Sioux tradition of excellence isnt just a team or a town or a moment in time, its a institution that grows and lives in our love for the game.

Wow this is awesome... Thank you for posting!!!! I collect those Dacotah annuals so I enjoy seeing all those not as common pictures, thank you! One question I have always had, did they take any color photos at that time it is so rare to see a color photo from that era of Sioux hockey. Thank you .

From experience. Freeze. Ziplock baggie. In cooler to game. coat pocket. GOAL IS SCORED. arms up and release in one smooth motion. This of course assumes you have some frozen in the freezer from last summers huntin....... Back in the day ....a foregone conclusion.
