Okay … ever think that maybe the hire made in late 2013 by Brian Faison was wrong? Ever? Maybe it wasn’t wrong at that time (although in hindsight it definitely was wrong considering the alternative was current Washington head coach Kalen DoBoer) but it certainly is wrong now. Perhaps, just perhaps, Bubba Schweigert - who has had the opportunity to serve 10 seasons as UND head football coach - and UND athletic department should recognize it’s time for a change. The current setup may just not be the best one for UND football at this time, and it’s okay to accept that.

Won’t do a thing … in my opinion … but it’s a nice little idea amongst a lot on here.

I agree with you. Defense is bare. Having no next level talent on defense hurts. CJ Siegel has a chance, but anyone else? A DI program - whether FCS or FBS - needs some top end talent if want to be a national championship contending program.

Defense will be the same as long as the “defensive-minded” head coach stays around as the “leader”.

This is an interestingly speculative thread. When the job opens, *when*, then I suspect a name or two will throw their name into the hat. As for now, there is no job opening, and there might not be for a couple seasons yet … very frustrating indeed.

Oh the issues of 2023 will linger to 2024. Not much is changing. Different QB, sure, but not much else. Smoke and mirrors. Smoke and mirrors.

I didn’t care that they didn’t play in the blowouts nearly as much as the fact that UND was getting blown out … that bugged me the most.

Not as pissed off and with more playoff wins? No one will ever know. He didn’t show up in big games (but that’s not entirely HIS fault), however, he was otherwise very consistent and played in a lot of games for UND.

I think it can be argued that the overall talent has actually improved, but it’s not by enough. A few positions may get better over a 4 year period, but then others fall back. Just not enough overall improvement. also, though, remember that UND hasn’t won more than 7 games in a season since 2016 …

UND has regressed in the recruiting of high level athletes. This needs to change. So many positions on this team need to be more athletic, including safety, linebacker, receiver, and, dare I say it … quarterback. hopefully the portal is utilized really well this year I’m still skeptical the current staff will know how to position and use the student-athletes … but oh well

This is key. Allowing for an open application process is crucial.

Nothing jv about flying (or driving) to Texas in January and celebrating with fellow UND fans while watching the team compete for a national championship … but yeah, not likely to happen anytime soon at this rate

Most likely good scenario is Bubba retires next year, Danny Freund is elevated to HC, and Pawlak gets OC. I don’t think you’ll see the “house get cleaned” so to speak, unless the 2024 season is an absolute disaster.

UND hockey is No.2 in the country. Should be No. 1 (again). They will continue to do well. Would be neat in the near future to have UND football finish in the top 10, or better yet, earn a national championship the same year as UND hockey does. EXPECTATIONS matter.

I’m honestly surprised they weren’t running this (or really any counter for that matter) this season. as the wise Bubba would say, hindsight is 20/20, so I guess we shouldn’t question it ….

UND has under-utilized transfer portal in my opinion. Can’t build a team off it, but you can bring in more than 3-5 per season. Don’t be scared. Catch up with the times. again, though, the instruction (or really the lack thereof) they end up getting after they arrive here is my major concern … no evidence transfers will be put in position to get UND over the 7 win hump
