And just to be clear, this message board is the furthest thing from a court room. There’s plenty of evidence to go around, but you really have to be quite ignorant (and lazy) to not acknowledge it *unless* we apparently proceed with a deposition and present several exhibits for your liking. Again, I also choose to not answer your several questions for that reason (and because it doesn’t have to be all spilled out on this medium); not because you raised questions for which I have no answers. Again, let’s see what happens. UND football is up against it with funding issues, so that is a challenge, but I also don’t agree with their current leadership and hiring processes. That could be done better, regardless of budget.

Stop deflecting. It was obvious which direction Bubba was going to go from the get-go. Predetermined decisions due to a lazy predictable decision-making process. Your justifications are just as predictable. Bubba has one hand tied behind his back because of poor funding, but I’m not sure the free hand is all that capable, either.

He didn’t get promoted due to his innate abilities, he got promoted because UND football is underfunded and under-staffed. Previous D coordinator decided to leave last second in February, delaying spring ball. Previous position of new D coordinator was safeties coach, arguably the worst position on the team over the past couple seasons. New DC was lazily handed this promotion, he did not earn it. But, for UND football’s sake, I hope he does great.

This isn’t the only gripe. Bubba’s way of doing things has led UND to win 55% of the games they play. Sample size is sufficient (9 seasons). Is that where UND football should be? Where you want it to be? You can bathe us in detailed monologue all you want, but you’re really just distracting towards true detraction, rather than away from it. Not so sure over-familiarity with the way things are done is the best strategy; actually, it just plain isn’t. “Familiarity breeds complacency.”

I hope so. I remember the 3 picks like it was yesterday. Wasn’t at the game, but I was listening to the live radio broadcast. Lot of hype for that game as Mike Leach had just led Texas Tech to an 11-2 season in 2008, the year before UND played in Lubbock, and it was UND’s first FBS game as an FCS school. RIP Mike Leach, another really solid dude.

This is correct, as I also have recently posted on this board. It is also clearly why coaches leave abruptly.

I’m a fan, but I’m not blind, and I’m also a realist. Attacks on my ability to follow the team, know the coaches and former alumni, and buy tickets and donate to the university are laughable and just provide me more entertainment. I’ll continue to be present - thanks for your consideration. Anyways, the concept you’ve outlined of promotion within is the goal of most organizations, but inclusion from the outside is also important. UND football has issues beyond just coaching, and perpetually promoting from within doesn’t address those issues, in my opinion. That is, UND football isn’t at a level where they can guarantee ascension with only internal promotions.

Yeah it’ll be Schwenzfeier (this is my guess, though, I definitely haven’t heard anything definitive).

Bubba doesn’t dare to hire anyone outside the program to a prominent role (coordinator). You can doubt all you want, but you are exclaiming more about your cluelessness than anything else.

Bubba hired from within his own staff when he hired Danny, which again, is the issue. Danny being more creative and flexible than Rudolph doesn’t prove anything or change the issue I’m concerned with. No one credible from outside the program is seriously considered, and if they are, they never accept the position. This practice and recurring theme comes with the territory of having Bubba as head coach. Again, failed leadership (not thinking outside the box) and poor coaching salary pool. Whatever though, just continue beating your dead horses. Changing the world and all that.

Man you’re dense (and clueless). I haven’t pivoted away from anything. Nice try on your own “made up argument”. Rudolph was fired in November. Holinka stepped away in February (same month another coach stepped away for a regional rival). Can’t you see the writing on the wall? Subpar coaching salary, subpar leadership. UND football needs better. Promoting from within is not the universal solution, and going from Rudolph to Freund in 2018 does not suggest otherwise. It just shows Rudolph was that awful of a hire back in 2014, and UND football still has issues in 2023. Poor salary and poor connections = continual inbreeding and internal promotions.

Rudolph didn’t work out. Danny Freund is more creative and flexible, which is obviously good and an improvement. Would’ve been nice if Bubba got it right the first time (again, decision-making). Hindsight 20/20 though.

They aren’t mutually exclusive. Better coaching PLUS better resources. hiring a good coach comes down to a good decision-making process, not only how much $$ you have. $$ helps obviously, but it’s not everything.

You’re not wrong … at the surface. UND needs to figure out how to fund football better or cut the program. The differential between regional rivals (NDSU, SDSU) is a hard pill to swallow.
