Been a long time coming. When Nodak Insurance Company Sports Performance Center is complete as well, then everything will finally be in place for UND football. Took 15+ years, but UND football is finally supported like a division I program. Hopefully unprecedented success follows…
-
And you continue to be overly optimistic within your pursuit to police opinions on here…?? Ok. Not sure why one would go to bat over third place in the conference, seems petty and of low expectations, but you do you. There are some reasons to be excited, and still plenty of reasons to also be concerned. I’ll continue with the moderate approach despite your sentiments.
-
UND projected to regress, from third place in the conference to fifth. A lot of proving to do for incumbent Bubba, but the seat never seems to warm for football coaches in Grand Forks and UND, or so it appears. UND football coaching compensation remains behind peer institutions, and you ultimately put your money where your mouth is. Would be surprised if the team is very good or very bad, as we’ve been conditioned to expect ongoing UND football mediocrity (6 to 7 wins and early playoff exit) at this point. X’s and O’s may change with new offensive coordinator. Players may improve in short term with new strength and conditioning coach and in long term with new facilities. Only time will tell I guess …

Fabulous idea, and honoring the past accomplishments of UND football to appeal to prospective recruits and their families is absolutely necessary. Message me; I’m definitely happy to contribute.

Starting to see just the beginning effects of the outstanding new facilities. If done right down to the finishing touches, the overall facility will make UND football truthfully top tier in FCS football. First event on the new turf scheduled for 7/16/24 (Flagship Camp #2). Keep it rolling!

Only time will tell on recruits; there are many variables. History is a fairly good predictor of the future. There are new individuals that provide a little bit of hope; new offensive coordinator, new strength and conditioning coach. The new facilities are outstanding. But our current head coach’s established philosophy and game day demeanor does not provide much hope or optimism, in my opinion.

Ha! I don’t know what’s more funny; this or the fact @SiouxBoys disliked this!
-
I missed the part where I put words in your mouth … those are my words.
-
It’s in shambles. Yet, extend the cause (Bubba) … and Chaves sticks his neck out for it too interestingly.
-
Yes, but it is reality now, unbelievably. And yet all you bubba lover boys still think he’s a “leader of men”. Couldn’t even lead his own grown adult coaches…
-
Sorry @90siouxfan, but your opinion equally is of no significance whatsoever.
-
Oh, I shall. No follow the leader from me. Independent thought will direct it towards football and basketball. Anyways, now that that inevitable reaction has somewhat subsided… As for Mikkelsens, happy they donated. I don’t know them; my comment was not directed towards them personally. The stupidity is more of a region-wide issue, I’d say.
-
Traditionalism, culture, and, my favorite of all, stupidity.
-
Right, Mussman was so awful that there should never be another OC considered for HC again… how about this one; a good division II defensive coordinator / average division II head coach does not automatically make a great division I HC. There’s a prime example right in front of all of us.
-
Only time will tell. As I’ve said, if Fruechte truthfully is a breakout coach, that only means good things for UND. Would Bubba get out of his way and let him into the head job?
-
You’re correct. James Madison won one championship, but they’re no longer an FCS school. Who would’ve thought that the standard would be South Dakota State and North Dakota State? Regionally speaking, that’s reassuring for UND, but the results aren’t reassuring. Vision and leadership matters.
-
Sometimes you win division 1 championships, unless you’re the University of North Dakota.
-
My official way too early prediction is that UND wins some games they’re not supposed to, and probably loses some games they’re not supposed to. Still finds a way to go 6-6 or 7-5 and sneak into the playoffs with an eventual early exit. The identity of this program with Bubba is so certain right now, that anyone who supports this facade (Chaves) is just blatantly satisfied with the status quo: some wins, some losses, no championships.
-
But DB guru bubble ball?! Hopefully the new facilities, and NIL deals, will somehow magically resolve these blatant schematic and instructional issues…

Don’t have to tell me twice. I’m not expecting good things in 2024. Already sort of pissed I renewed my season tickets, but figured after having them for decades, I better continue with it. Figured I’d type something sort of positive, since I’m routinely hated on here for being so pessimistic (i.e., realistic).
-
Coaching matters. No reason for excitement, unless new OC hire is destined for FBS program in 1-2 years.
-
What an exciting addition that would be … People can talk crap about Missouri State all they want, but in my opinion that program and location is superior to Northern Colorado and Greeley.

SDSU and NDSU are the bar, but you have to walk before you can run. UND can’t even win a playoff game, never mind do it on a consistent basis. The leadership is beyond suspect. This horse will continue to get beaten because the same outcome occurs every season and yet the same things are tried again and again in terms of leadership/staffing. Football is a major game of momentum, and it doesn’t take an expert to notice UND football has lost every ounce of momentum it ever once had since basically mailing it in after Oct. 14, 2023.
