  1. UND currently lacks an invitation to move to FBS and isn't likely to invest $10 million for such a transition, as far as I know. While it's not wise for UND to move up to FBS immediately, as you say, the school should closely observe the actions of regional rivals like Montana, Montana State, South Dakota State, and South Dakota regarding their football programs. FYI, prior FCS national championships don’t dictate a program's path; instead, factors like geography, politics, and funding play bigger roles. Being optimistic about NDSU's situation simply because of its location (growing Fargo) or athletic success is not solid as the financial implications of moving up are significant. I agree that understanding the evolving landscape of college football is essential for UND to avoid becoming stagnant. Don’t repeat prior mistakes. NDSU's decisions will impact UND, and it’s beneficial for UND to strategically plan its move within the next few years to better the outcome.
  2. Stop trolling. No one is crying. You’re on here provoking, Mr. Bison.
  3. Pretty obvious, but explaining to you is a waste of time.
  4. Correct, but don’t let them compel you into believing the state of ND and SBoHE / NDUS are exempt from this. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.
  5. Glass half full perspective for UND for sure, but as history has taught us, UND leadership can’t just sit on the sideline and hope things just fall into their lap. UND will fail if that happens. Strategic action planning and eventually action from UND is necessary, also, to successfully rebuttal this.
  6. Agree. Advanced planning and alliances are now more critical than ever. This is far more important now to UND than any of those schools …
  7. Fargo and tax payer dollars gonna keep funding all those flights to Hawaii? What a political joke of state corruption. Rick Berg and those connections need to be closely examined.
  8. That’s irrelevant apparently. You’ve bought in to the Fargo is king and UND hockey - Fargo football marriage propaganda. That stance hurts UND, Grand Forks and the entire State of North Dakota.
  9. Increases revenue streams and marketability. Increased attention, coverage and publicity. Ultimately, in doing it, you have to win or it means nothing, but need to learn from the past. NDSU will likely win. What will UND do? The narrative in 2004 when NDSU went up to division I (FCS) and UND stayed behind in division II was “good riddance” and “NDSU will fail”. Ultimately it started the hockey-only emphasis for UND; UND athletics has been playing catchup to NDSU athletics ever since. UND needs to be very strategic here. They need partners (South Dakota, South Dakota State, Montana, Montana State) and they need to be aggressive. They need to be willing to spend aggressively (unprecedented) athletically or risk being mitigated completely within their own state. Grand Forks is a hockey town, but North Dakota is a football state. UND needs to make the next move here, of which being patient is the likely one, but it’s not the guaranteed right one. Next move by UND is an important one.
  10. Yes. For starters, the governor of the state.
  11. Correct. This is political in origin; hence, Rick Berg taking over as NDSU interim president is no coincidence here in terms of timing. UND and their political alliances (and strategic panel in terms of hockey vs everything else) need to now react accordingly.
  12. Not in perpetuity, but political officials that will allow NDSU into the state of North Dakota’s pockets do …
  13. Ohio state - Ohio isn’t a done deal. Ohio state has hockey, professional schools, etc., and North Dakota State does not. UND still has greater enrollment, Point is, UND has a chance, but there is a real threat that UND loses ground and NDSU jumps up enrollment if UND and its constituents don’t react accordingly.
  14. False, but certainly a protective narrative I’d expect from all ag college supporters.
  15. They won this political round. UND needs to step up their game next round…. Big time
  16. Don't make assumptions, Mr. Bison.
  17. Would be nice, but doubt he does … more behind the scenes manipulation from Fargo I’d guess
  18. This is the dark reality and is a fair (unfortunate) comparison.
  19. Aware. But that is still legislation that is manipulative and adversely affects North Dakota’s flagship university while justifying ag college fiscal irresponsibility. Most disagree, unless they’re supporters of Fargo, ag college, and/or agriculture, of which ND has a strong support group.
  20. If they won’t, then und will have several dark years until the next cycle … or … longer. Need action not inaction here
  21. Okay to be chill and concurrently acknowledge that ag college of North Dakota is suspiciously funding this
