  1. God it would be f*cken awesome if he came back to be the OC for Schmidt and his protege Kaminski…. A guy can dream can’t he?
  2. Yep, but that’s just the coach-to-player communication device. OC (with technically the help of a group of players/back up QB) can signal in a change at anytime, as long as you have enough time to actuate it. Ultimately, the QB should be given full autonomy, but the coaches can have full control also if they want, meaning it’s only partially on the kids. The coaches need to shoulder their fair share of responsibility in the offensive failures. They have the ability to audible into the right call, and as such, UND should be able to score more than what they did. Many components here: execution, player talent, communication, play-calling, and syncing it all together.
  3. This isn’t true. Rest assured. UND has a bonafide future professional football player on their roster still (as of now) and it is only a positive. Big things coming … More roster work ongoing. Get behind the collective and contribute. Every bit helps, especially with the match.
  4. That’s an easy answer … money. Slam dunk you want 12 games especially if it’s an extra home game.
  5. For good reason … UND needs to be much more dynamic at that position.
  6. UND adds 12th and final game to the schedule. Long Island University home and home .. Was hoping for a bigger name but this will do. Long Island University did beat Eastern Michigan (FBS) last season and is an up and comer … Addition of home and home with Long Island University

  8. Grand Forks Herald helping to keep track … Mods: might want to post/embed this link to the start of this thread GF Herald: Transfer Portal Tracker 2025-2026
  9. Yeah those lessons sounds good in theory but in reality subscribing to these principles will only get you beat … kids are welcome back if they can make the team better.
  10. Bad advice. Opportunities do exist, but they’re not always good opportunities. Just because you can transfer doesn’t mean you should transfer. Most will be returning (rightfully so) to UND football where development potential is just as high if not higher.
  11. Quite the opposite. Not good enough. Raise the standard. No more participation trophies.
  12. Thank you, Zach. And, well, wouldn’t you know? … the transfer portal ain’t all that bad after all. R-E-L-A-X. Continue to support UND. 701 awards. 1883 sports.
  13. That’s not true. Apples to oranges. Schobert was a walk on for UND and never signed his letter of intent. Riffle signed a letter to play for UND. “And if not for a last-minute phone call from former Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema in July 2012 asking Schobert to consider a walk-on spot with the Badgers, he would have been headed for North Dakota of the FCS -- also as a walk-on.” Source: ESPN
  14. There’s a match going on right now in the collective so there will be more than 45 g by the time the January transfer window comes around; and also with the revenue sharing now for this cycle I would anticipate, per sources, UND will have 6 figures plus of revenue sharing from UND for the roster. We’re in good shape, but this is competition folks, ya’ll need to still contribute some if you want UND to continue to excel and take it to the next level. Have to compete and ultimately better those arrogant a**holes in Fargo ag college. Again, nothing to do with deep pockets, it’s the action itself that counts ($25-50 per month is all, but if you can give more that’s great) and, as such, getting all the UND masses unified in this movement and opportunity.
  15. No, not until the next transfer portal window. He’ll at least be at UND one season.
  16. Every college athletics program will lose supporters due to the direction we’re on. The program(s) that lose the least will be most successful. War of attrition is where we’re at unfortunately with collegiate athletics. Despite all of that, college football is at an all time high in terms of popularity and revenue generated. As such, it’s not all doom and gloom. Need to rationalize everything somewhere in the middle. As is the case with most things, it’s not as good nor as bad as it seems.
  17. Not a personally directed comment. Just a generality: we may not like the current state of collegiate athletics, but you still have an opportunity to be generous and make a difference. Not doing so, regardless of your stance, puts UND at a competitive disadvantage.
  18. If you want to help the cause and contribute to the success of the program/organization, then it’s reasonable to feel compelled to be generous and contribute, rather than being callous towards it. With that said, the lack of regulation is where I (and many others) have an issue. It distorts competitive equality. In the NFL, there is a salary cap, meaning if you did theoretically donate to the Vikings payroll to help out the Wilfs, they could still only use so much to pay the players. Right now, in college football, there is no salary cap. That lack of regulation is the priority problem right now, not the issue of student-athletes being rightfully payed some for their services/entertainment value.
  19. Unfortunately this also lends itself to the argument that we need a new direction offensively since Fruechte has connected himself to that position. I know it may sound like these things are not mutually exclusive (in other words we could keep Fruechte as OC and just hire a QB coach) but I believe they are in fact mutually exclusive. Another issue is that in this day and age audibles out of calls is entirely on the OC/play caller and not on the QB/QB coach. UND’s OC has the ability to run a check with me at the line, seeing what the front and coverage alignment (2 high vs 1 high) will be and then adjust from there. If that is not happening, then it’s on the OC, not the QB. Not to mention the OC is controversially on the field and not in the box where many play callers are located for strategic purposes. Just my 2 cents. We will see …
  20. Bubba did not make it further in 2020/2021 Covid-19 asterisk season (lost in second round just like 2025). Made it to same point. And 2016 UND didn’t win a playoff game; 2025 UND won a playoff game. Schmidt led UND to arguably most successful division I season in just one season. Year two will be massive …
  21. Offense needs to improve. You aren’t the only ones aware of this. It will improve.
  22. Yes, there are NIL contracts that are ADDITIONAL to the scholarship contracts that @southpaw is referencing. UND uses these NIL contacts as well, as the current staff brought UND football up to speed (former staff with Bubba had no clue) … Complex new world we live in now. The wild, wild West … Its even further changed since the House Settlement allowing revenue sharing …
  23. Oh boy … the legend of Clive just keeps growing …
  24. Not on you, just a pet peeve of mine with the whole fascination over Clives Georges. But we all agree, whether amateurs on here or the actual coaches doing the work, need more playmakers on offense that can make guys miss and get more yardage than what is designed. We get that going, and then the offense will naturally take off.
  25. Throw in a top tier QB too… although I think we’re more likely to get better at QB via HS quarterbacks and development then what we could get from the overpriced transfer portal at QB
