  1. Only 6 football members ... that wouldn't work. Oh well, creative idea. I especially like the name you came up with there.
  2. Sure must be nice to be able to fly across the country every other weekend to follow UND football. Retirement hasn't hit me yet, so give me Fargo, Brookings, and Vermillion over these ridiculous 800+ mile locations. I still feel, as does apparently the UND administration and athletic department, that most folks would feel biennial trips to Fargo, Brookings, and Vermillion are far more accessible and practical than trips to Missoula, Bozeman, and Greeley every other year.
  3. All fair points. Are you as likely to attend games in Arizona, Montana, Colorado and California as you are in North Dakota (Fargo), South Dakota, and Iowa, though? The answer for most folks would be that biennial trips to Fargo, Brookings, and Vermillion are far more accessible and practical than trips to Missoula, Bozeman, and Greeley every other year. Edit: Of course UND could still add Montana, Montana State, Eastern Washington, etc. to non-conference scheduling; that makes more sense than playing teams from North Dakota (NDSU) and South Dakota (SDSU, USD) as non-conference opponents only every 4 years.
  4. It demonstrates how clueless the committee members truthfully are.
  5. The thing is, no one knows, including the committee memebers. They just make things up as they go. Complete BS selection system.
  6. I don't believe UND will lose unless it actually happens. NDSU does their thing with pure confidence. UND needs to do the same. Beat the Utes!!!
  7. You think New Hampshire and Western Illinois should've been in over UND? Don't get me started on that different topic, Ira. I too like the schools in the Big Sky Conference, but I also like the regional schools that are far more relatable to UND and this region. If anyone thinks average attendance (which is $$ bottomline) won't be up with consistent contests against local schools (NDSU, SDSU, USD), they are largely mistaken. This needs to happen largely for that as well as the travel costs (perhaps minor but still a tangible factor). Lastly, travel to away contests and neutral site tournaments (Sioux Falls Summit League Tournament) for UND fans will improve substantially in terms of numbers. Perhaps you won't get "scenic, unique vacations" that the BSC apparently allows for some, but that isn't doable for the masses. I am happy to hear so many have bought into the Big Sky Conference and support it. That said, don't let inherent hate for NDSU cloud your judgement as far as which conference(s) just make more sense.
  8. UND with 2 of the 10 top plays of week 11 in FCS football: http://www.ncaa.com/video/football/2016-11-14/fcs-football-top-plays-week-eleven?cid=ncaafcssocial_tw_sf42481074
  9. I noticed that also during the game and Bubba commented on that during yesterday's press conference. He played his ass off trying to end it then and there. Reyes is very, very good -- of course, we all knew that already.
  10. You are correct.
  11. No, the DII loss kept them out of the playoffs. If any FCS team lost to a DII team yet went 7-4, you too would say that the DII loss should keep them out. Don't be hypocritical.
  12. Nice looking bracket. Obviously this won't be spot on, but I still like the match-ups and obviously UND getting a top 8 seed.
  13. To be the best, you have to beat the best. Let's not over-analyze this thing. UND needs to be willing to take on the entire field. Playoff hawks!
  14. That's considered a forward "flip" pass so the refs called that play correctly.
  15. I sure hope for this result. I am of the opinion that this will be a close game. If our crowd gets into it and helps out the defense, UND *could* run away with this one though. That is literally the "NDSU in the Fargodome" recipe for success. Don't believe me, ask our offensive players who played in last year's game vs NDSU. Here in Grand Forks, we need to replicate that kind of homefield advantage - its huge.
  16. Small in numbers? God this is pathetic. Hopeful for an "election-like" surprise ....
  17. Boooooo
  18. Just a bunch of f*cking bull$%!#. That's all I have to contribute right now. Carry on. Go Hawks!
  19. NDSU is UND's main rival. Simple as that. North Dakota's population is not required to support both schools equally. If NDSU athletics continues to expand without competition from UND athletics, NDSU athletics will continue to gain support while UND's athletic support remains stagnant.
  20. Or we could beat NDSU in order to reach the dance ... and we would actually have a decent contingent to witness it in Sioux Falls ....
  21. If this occurs on Saturday, UND will lose the game, potentially by a wide margin. UND needs to pressure and get to NAU's QB and UND needs to protect whoever is under center for them. This is absolutely a key to the game. Huge key.
  22. North Dakota has only two division one schools; they are 70 miles apart and they first played each other in football in 1894. The two universities likely can succeed without being in the same conference (NDSU has proved they can, UND was still working on that; perhaps your stance is based on wanting to prove UND can do this?); however, it seems beyond logical that these two schools be in the same conference.
  23. The powers of the Big Sky Conference have been accused of being anti-UND; obviously they approved admission back in 2010, but they sort of belittle UND at times from what others say. For years people have spent quite a bit of time complaining about how Montana and Montana State belittled UND. Furthermore, schools like Sacramento State were huge opponents of UNDs when it came to travel and distance issues. UND is still the new guy in the conference and the Big Sky Conference powers could easily disregard UND in certain scenarios as well.
  24. Mussman and his staff made those statement when UND first joined the Big Sky Conference. Those players that he recruited from those "non-traditional" regions were largely unsuccessful here at UND. Bubba and his staff recruit a MVFC blueprint, which is essentially the traditional regions of North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and even Manitoba. Bubba and his staff support a MVFC move for this reason, among several others.
  25. Your "big picture" is actually quite small. You're bitter at NDSU and bored of the NCC model, despite the logic and practicality of it.
