  1. My friend, UND and NDSU are 80 miles apart and are governed by the same state and university system, in addition to the athletic and academic rivalry. Blatantly ignoring NDSU in terms of UND's conference status - as well as other dynamics - is not ingenuity (or defeating an "obsession", for that matter) but rather pure negligence.
  2. I think I know why you're so down: you're going to have to change your profile picture or whatever they call it now!
  3. 800 miles versus 80 miles Distance traveled costs $$$, for both athletic department and fans.
  4. Brookings and Vermillion are yet more doable in terms of travel than anything the Big Sky Conference has to offer. Also, UNI ain't all that bad. Most of these anti-MVFC/Summit comments appear to be coming from those who have forced themselves to disregard the 100+ year UND-NDSU intraconference rivalry, regardless of the history and residual interest. Whether you like it or not, UND/Grand Forks will never be in the Rockies.
  5. No, but we may have to recruit better linemen across the board.
  6. Well, just in case you are unaware, UND can reach the dance via the Summit and they can do it in front of more than 50 people.
  7. How great would it be if UND beat NDSU in order to go to the dance and steal away NDSU's opportunity? Can't have that happen with UND in the BSC.
  8. Well, I prefer results over philosophical arguments. If NDSU beats UND 9 out of 10 times, then I agree; unfortunately, UND hasn't been able to play NDSU consistently for such DI comparisons to occur. That will now change with this great move. Conversely, if UND consistently beats NDSU in basketball or football, I don't see how your flagship statement can hold any water.
  9. I agree with you in that it will be interesting to see what kind of UND crowds show up in Brookings and Vermillion for basketball and football games. Not to mention, the basketball tourney in Sioux Falls should have a fun crowd, too.
  10. I am pretty sure they can still pave their own path, but everyone has a right to an opinion (just remember, whether one has a particular entitlement or right is irrelevant to whether one's assertion is true or false).
  11. I absolutely see where you are coming from, but should UND cater more to UND alumni living in Colorado or UND alumni still living (with many still working and contributing to UND) in North Dakota? After all, UND is the flagship university of North Dakota. If UND is trying to please all of its alumni based on travel distance, it is just a no-win situation. If UND can logically decrease travel costs for both the athletic teams and local UND athletics' supporters, then they should do it. I am glad they made the move.
  12. Thanks, fixed it: MVFC/Summit Conference: closest school to UND is 81 miles away. Big Sky Conference: closest school to UND is 807 miles away.
  13. MVFC/Summit Conference: closest school to UND is 81 miles away. Big Sky Conference: closest school to UND is 807 miles away. In my opinion, it's obvious where UND belongs. Since UND has been in the Big Sky Conference (since 2012), football and MBB have 1 combined conference championship; thus, conference dominance shouldn't factor into this. UND needs to do big things (and should) in the Summit/MVFC and win the BSC in the interim.
  14. I love the move, mainly for personal travel reasons. I love to follow UND athletics in person, if possible. Keep up the good work, President Kennedy. Also, props to Bubba Schweigert for knowing where UND belongs.
  15. Makes complete sense. Hope Ott maintains his commitment to UND, where championships are the future.
  16. UND has won big conference games at home before, but can they turn the corner and win big games on the road or a neutral floor? @hoops44, when UND defeats Weber State or Montana in Ogden, Missoula, or Reno, then UND will especially be on to something. I do not want to take away from tonight's great win for UND's coaches and players, but your "calling others out" posts, @hoops44, are a bit too premature for my liking.
  17. The "frozen tundra" was a balmy 35 degrees Fahrenheit tonight. Maybe global warming will help out UND basketball with recruiting ........................
  18. Same to you. I hope UND plays well this evening.
  19. You really are going with that argument? Frank "math" doesnt tell the whole story. Had UND made more free throws than NDSU attempted, especially early in the game, the game would've been played far different down the stretch. NDSU extended the lead late in the game while UND was trying to catchup- completely different style of basketball when UND was trying to play "catchup". UND dug themselves into a hole. And I didn't say the poor free throw shooting was on the staff, so that's you hearing voices.
  20. Did you see the game against NDSU in Grand Forks? That performance cannot be overlooked, even if UND has come around since then; UND lost a game and a chance to sweep NDSU with that performance at the charity stripe.
  21. Yes. You know when NDSU plays EWU but not UND? Interesting. UND plays EWU in the regular season finale at the Alerus Center.
  22. You are right in terms of the long-term prognosis, but this news won't do anything but hurt Eastern Washington in the short-term (2017 season), although the degree of interruption remains to be seen. EWU also has to replace a fair amount of on-the-field talent. If they weren't before, UND should now definitely be the Big Sky Conference favorite in 2017! Go UND!
  23. That's the motto of the Jones' era. Wonderful times for UND men's basketball ... Always close, but no cigar. It's just time for a change at the end of the season.
