Sure it doesn't hurt to discuss, but if I had to choose UND or the field (other BSC teams), I'd go with the field. I sure hope I'm wrong but nothing under Jones' tenure has shown me his teams can withstand pressure so I fear a letdown. We'll see. Carry on with scenario discussion.
-
Folks, before we indulge deeply into play-in game vs whatever-seed discussions we should see if Jones and his squad can finish the regular season and BSC tourney without choking. Weber will be tough to beat in the BSC tourney.
-
Wins and losses happen ... yes. The ratio varies.

Although it is definitely a factor, contract length/status is not the only factor in recruiting. There are certainly other areas that need to be addressed (some of which are out of the staff's control). -

When you put it that way (*multi*year or nothing), then he should be let go. Although Jones has his team playing excellent basketball right now, UND isn't out of the woods yet; still plenty of room for a collapse. If UND goes dancing, then UND should extend him without any hesitation. Choke in the BSC tourney, however, and UND should at least consider both options (with me preferring a change in leadership). -
I too would love to see Ratelle get a shot at linebacker, but the passing league that the NFL is right now just doesn't allow it, unfortunately.
-
It's not "all that matters". The NFL values actually seeing what they want or else it becomes a projection mess. See Will Ratelle - played linebacker but was projected at fullback; that certainly didn't *help* his draft stock any. Had Ratelle been drafted, it would've made him more difficult to cut. If you give Santiago actual opportunities returning and out in the slot, that will help his value due to less projections.

Exactly. Sioux Falls will be a regular trip for me but this whole Reno situation just doesn't work.

Huge win. UND is now first in the Big Sky Conference standings with three regular season games left. This team sure looks like it has the potential to be the one to break through and win the Big Sky Conference (and also save Jones his job). I would love to travel and support this team at the conference tournament if it wasn't at such an odd place like Reno. Horrible. The Summit League tournament in Sioux Falls can't come soon enough! Go Hawks! -

Great effort by Avants with those offensive rebounds. That's his game. -

Great run with Q's three and Seales drive ... UND's defense will determine the outcome, now. -

UND starting to blow their lead. Need to get going again after this timeout. -
Ranked UND lower than they should've been ranked in my opinion. No big deal - only time will tell if UND's class is #26 or not.
-
I'd go with la-la land. I love that Hero sports gives the FCS so much attention, but the quality of their articles leaves something to be desired. They have completely fallen hard for the Ag school hype and are quite biased with it. Also, they screwed over UND in their recruiting class rankings, in my opinion. Just my two cents; I think Reyes will get plenty of attention this season from the NFL and he may portentially get some post-season invites depending on how he performs/does health-wise. He has the measurables, that's for sure.

I would intercept this as a positive rather than a negative, although I think it will be very difficult for UND to win in Ogden. Beating Weber at their place, though, would suggest that UND should be able to beat them on a neutral floor. You never know, though; should be a good game. -
NDUS Budget Cuts (changed name to be system-wide)

I know, I know. I was more so just being overly critical of your post because you left out football. UND men's hockey and football are the cream of the crop based on current attendance numbers and future potential in that department for football - period. -

I suppose not joining the MVFC might make some, possibly including you, happy .... But no changes coming in regards to that; Kennedy is currently impressed, thankfully. Mark Kennedy@MarkKennedyUND More @dfreund7 @UNDfootball I was very impressed by the dedication of the team and the leadership of the coaches. You make @myUND proud. 8:56 AM - 17 Feb 2017 -

There is one sport on that list that is a major outlier; that is the sport that obviously should be cut. "But, but, but .... it produced Olympic athletics and fits the UND culture!" Oh please, look at the attendance numbers - it is not even remotely close to the following of men's hockey, football, and men's and women's basketball. -

I do largely agree with this statement.
-
BOTH Deion Harris and Cole Reyes have the potential to be drafted in 2018 (although I agree that Cole Reyes is most likely to go first). The situation bodes well for UND's secondary in 2017. Enjoy this team in 2017 - tons of potential!

Exactly. If you can't beat lower-half conference teams on the road, then the big home wins are certainly diminished some. With the big "end-of-the-season evaluation" looming, the road conference performances need to be watched carefully. -
