  1. Joe had one incompletion. What else was he supposed to do? I think he cemented his spot.

I agree, I think Joe keeps his job. Not because of what Bartels did but for what he didn't do. He played well but not exceptional. I believe you only keep an injured QB on the bench if his replacement is playing exceptional. I didn't see that today. With that being said I believe the two of them are pretty much equally talented.
  2. Let people know how to find you. Some of us would like to see if you really exist and if so maybe get an autograph or photo op! Students should not miss an opportunity to schmooze with a legend. Make sure you have plenty of beverages for them.

I'm beginning to think gfhockey and Carl Gerbschmidt might be the same person.
  3. i don't have the greatest smart phone so i thought all the buffering on the big sky app was me...sometimes it was perfect than messages would pop up saying "null" and then it would freeze?? anyone else have this problem?

Mine would just freeze momentarily then start up again after 10 seconds or so. I never got any messages though. Were you connected to Wifi? That could create some issues if you weren't.
  4. Slighlty over 10,000 and I will be one of them. Finally get to see these guys live. Last week I watched the first half on my phone with Big sky network. Not bad, but it would freeze up every 3 minutes so it got to be frustrating. Then the second half I was driving to a wedding and kind of keeping track on ESPN game tracker until the game got tied up. I then was getting a play by play from my brother who was watching on TV. So this should definitely be a upgrade.

  5. No surprise offense developing slower than defense. Bubba and staff are rebuilding a program not a team. The first thing we need is to be competitive. We then need to develop consistently and then develop into a power program. I can't explain the pick six but Mollberg can play and excel. Whomever the QB is will also need to develop that ability to be competitive, and Mollberg has shown he can be but he needs to make that next step to being consistent. He hasn't done that yet but he has the potential to be a dominant QB at this level. Last year neither QB knew who would play, nor for how long and there was no scheme to what the offense was doing. The oline play was suspect and neither QB was allowed to develop as they might have. Once Mollberg earned the job, Bubba and staff have decided to allow him the opportunity to develop into the QB he has the potential for. I can't explain the poor read on the pick 6, but when we open the play book he is much more effective and we still aren't seeing the run option packages he is capable of. The defense under Schmidt has made great strides. We need patience with our freshmen kickers and oline. There are no moral victories but in developing the program we need to see the team getting better each day and each week. I think we see that the last 2 weeks. This week is a big week for these kids to stay focused and maintain some consistency. Another plus was only 3 penalties yesterday. Patience can be difficult and frustrating, but necessary.

I know you feel sticking with Mollberg is the right move but what do you think of Norberg? Also, what's your thoughts on what needs to be done with the OL?
  6. I agree, great for Bubba to reach out like that.

I have a question. Speaking of developing a program, what do you UND fans think about the staff pulling the redshirts off the 9 or 10 true freshmen this year? It is obviously a rebuilding job this year without much hope for post season play. Do you think it would have been smarter to redshirt them and trade their least productive year for what should be their most productive year?

Not criticizing your staff, I think Bohl and his staff were way to quick to pull the redshirts off of Morlock, Gee-Tucker and DeLuca last year to basically play special teams and in mop up duty. I would much rather that they were redshirt freshmen this year instead off true sophomores. Unless the true freshman is going to start and is much better than their competition, redshirt them.

I don't know if Bubba is thinking this but players can redshirt any year. It worked out for McGill. I know he was hurt but not red shirting his freshman year makes it possible.
  7. Speaking of recruits not panning out/not staying, I think the class of 2012 is a good example of why the program is where it is. UND signed 18 high school recruits that year to some type of scholarship. Only seven are still on the roster--Bartels, Carrothers, Labat, Mathewson, Mollberg, Nordby and Rich.

Good point. You can even look at 2013 class. Besides the two walkons they had 24 recruits only 14 remain.
  8. I have to ask---so what happened to all of the great recruits I read about the Muss was getting? I am not asking that to bust balls. Serious question.

I don't know if there was ever that many but we've had a lot that just haven't panned out. Making a short list of ones that I can think of Carr, Adams, Windfeldt all left the team. Robertson, the two JC transfers all didn't show. A few years back the DL recruit Aarin Smith who never showed or didn't qualify academically. I think we've had a few of those. Also to be blunt we've got some guys on the team now that came in highly touted only to be average or less than average FCS players. As stated we as fans bought into these tweeted chest bumps.
  9. I remember a long time ago shortly after Dirty Dancing came out. He interviewed one of my older brothers and my younger brother asked him if he was Patrick Swayze. Classic. Nice guy. A voice I grew up with.

  11. I basically agree with bits and pieces of what you all are saying. Shaugs needs more carries. Garman needs to sit. He goes down way too easily. Mollberg should remain the QB but we need to see the blue chip recruit we all made him out to be. Our OL needs help from somewhere, some how. It was good to see Reineke and Labatt play well. Especially since I ripped Labatt apart last week. I'm not drunk either but I'm going to cut some trees down now. So it might get ugly if I was 18 deep and working a chainsaw.

  12. if team don't pick it up 2nd half

bubbs will be getting a call from the boys tomorrow afternoon

Alright, enough of that. Bubba is not going to pick up a phone with you or any of your so called boys on the other line and crap his pants. He's going to be very irritated and with good reason. Do us all a favor and take a bunch of shots during halftime. Then pass out so everybody doesn't have to skim thru your garbage in the second half.

  13. Our offense has definitely outplayed our defense this half. Besides Ratelle the defense has accomplished practically nothing. I've seen multiple good plays from several people on the offensive side of the ball.
