  1. Cripes.

Hopefully he's being especially deliberative because he's trying to convince someone else to apply.

I think you're right. With the job description written the way it was and how nobody who has applied really fits that description. Also knowing how Faison/Hak handled the Berry hiring last year, I assume you are spot on. He wrote the job description with someone in mind and he's not biting.
  2. My source just said bubba is bringing schmidt...

However not a slam dunk deal hes hired.

Faison is doing is due diligence...no offer has been mad.

Please dont question my sources or ask who they are!

I don't know if you're referencing me in this statement but I didn't mean to imply that Bubba would get hired. In fact I'm hoping for Pflugrad. Although I do like him as a coach. I just think Pflugrad is the best choice right now.
  3. Debor as oc

    Bubba as hc

    Hoffner as dc

    Get it done

Btw thats not what my source said. Just my dream.

Source did say bubba would bring some und good ole boys back...schmidt was named.

I would think if Schmidt came back it would be as DC. I wonder who he would bring back as OC?
  4. Tib would be a 100% slam dunk but there is a 0.01% chance it happens. Caruso is a reach IMO. Faison gets Pflu and which ND school now can say it has a coach who won a FCS title? And let me put it this way...Griz FB is on par or slightly above UND hockey to their respective fan bases. Ever been to a home Griz game?? If not and you are a FB fan it's a must see. Pflu can handle the "expectations" here...he was the man at Montana!

I agree, knowing Brooks I would love to see him get the job, but the more I research and find out more about Pflugrad I really like what he would bring to UND.
  5. Not that I think he's the best person for the UND head coaching job, but I feel like it was a travesty what happened to him. He deserves to get back into coaching. I would have no problem if whomever the new coach is hires him as an assistant.

Agreed, it was a real shame what happened to him and his family.

  6. Stay away from Bollinger right now; too inexperienced. For those who argue for BB, y'all live in a small world. There are way better, more experienced candidates out there than Brooks Bollinger. Let's get a guy that's been coaching in the NFL and FBS for many years, not only Pitt for a year and half.

If we live in a small world you live in a dream world. No NFL or FBS guy is coming. We may have a shot Pflugrad which would be excellent. UND was 3-8 last year and hasn't had a real successful year since 2008 when we were D-2. Dwindling attendance and having to compete in a hockey dominated town is not going to attract people to take a pay cut and come up to the frozen tundra and live. It's not going to happen. We can dream big but its not in the cards right now.
  7. It does, but it absurd to compare CK and BB. The guy was groomed for four years under Sumlin and he worked his way up the ladder while working under him.

BB has been a assistant coach for one year at the college level. Picking him is a lot riskier.

Which is why we are talking about BB going to UND and not a SEC team. What I'm saying is they have similiar backgrounds and both have tremendous upsides. Give Bollinger the chance and I believe he can do what Kingsbury is doing at Texas Tech.
  8. About three years of being an offensive coordinator. CK wasn't just an OC but he was an OC at a SEC school, that is bigtime. Beating Bama gets a guy noticed.

True but he was hired at big time school. It wasn't like he went from big time OC to mid major HC. What I'm getting at is he's doing just fine at a young and at a major school. I think Bollinger could do the same here.
  9. I'm not so high Bollinger because the guy only has a year and half or so of experience in coaching. Great athlete, great player, local guy, lots of wins at the collegiate level, NFL experience etc................

My question is, if he had grown up and attended high school in Bum@#$, OH, would anybody want him as head coach here at this point?

What's the difference between Bollinger and Cliff Kingsbury?
  10. You message board geniuses are so obviously missing the best coach und could get, that would be pflugard, the ex Montana coach, currently at weber state, knows the big sky, excellent coach. He was the scapegoat for the Montana president. Montana fans think he is better than their current coach.

He'd be a tough one to pass on.
  11. Of the current NFL coaches, approximately 75% of them had their first head coaching position in the NFL. It has actually become pretty rare for head coaches in college to move to the NFL. There are exceptions, but the normal career path now is to start as a position coach at either the college level or the NFL (some move back and forth at this level), then pick a path that will take them to a coordinator position and then to head coach in either a college path or an NFL path. If Tibesar likes coaching in the NFL and has decided that he is interested in becoming a head coach in the NFL then it is very unlikely that he would consider coming back to UND at all.

Such a true statement. With the Vikings which maybe why they can't win. After Bud Grant, only Dennis Green and Jerry Burns had Head Coaching experience at the NCAA level. With those two Green having a winning percentage of less than 30% and Burns's head coaching experience happened over 20 years prior to being hired in the NFL as a head coach. With all that worthless knowledge said I doubt Tibesar is going anywhere but if he does we would be lucky to have him. I will also bet my first born that Bollinger is not coming here as a OC. If UND can get him now as a Head Coach we should take him. His Quarterback at PItt this year has made massive strides (no INTs since 2nd game of the season) and people are noticing. The only way he's staying in Pittsburgh after this year is if he's the OC. If not he will be a OC somewhere else in the BCS. If he wants to come here UND should do what it takes to get him. He's been around more football than anyone on this board can fathom. He knows the game, he knows how to win, he knows people and most of all people in GF know him. LIfe in the the program would be instantaneously revived and butts would be back in the seats. Not that filling the seats is the only reason to hire him.

  12. I listened to that game on the radio while playing NCAA football 2013 as UND!!!

Darrell you need to come up with better stories about what your doing while you listen to UND on the radio. Make up stories about women or drinking copius amounts of booze and beating the hell out of Lakes. Anything but playing video games.

  13. I know I've brought this up before but I'd like to see some of that athletic wealth at WR shared with the DB's as well. If not Fletcher, maybe Bridges or Young. Bridges had a good career at DB in high school and Young is too good of an athlete to just use as a special teams player. I know Bridges is short but he had 46 or so tackles his senior year.

  14. Ok. That makes sense. But Unis still wouldn't appeal to me. Something that makes a more of a difference in improving the program would though, for the reasons you stated above.

I believe most of the money from BSU Galen Nagle is spent on recruiting. Maybe a few locker room amenities but mostly recruiting. I'm sure that would go along way for the coaching staff on the road in November December and January. I agree with you I say let the coaches decide where to spend it.
