  1. Good word....the pussification of America continues. As a Gopher hockey fan I would love to see a senior citizen "sipping" on a beer instead of sitting on their hands. Everytime I'm in the REA and see her on the screen I give her a round of applause as well. Unbelievable.
  2. Um...In regards to your last line...I read through GPL, follow Hammy and some of the other Gopher guys on Twitter, and post on a different college hockey message board. I have not read or heard one fan proclaim anything about a title or the frozen four for that matter. Let's just make stuff up, throw it at the wall, and hope it sticks I guess. Forgive the fan base for being slightly excited about getting 4 points on the road in the WCHA opener. Meanwhile, one of our biggest rivals went to Tech and got zero points. Either game could've gone the other way but bright spots are hard to come by for us Gopher fans the past 3-4 seasons. Anytime you go to Duluth and squeek by with 4 points it is a good weekend. As far as the Gophers defense goes, Helgeson is a Junior. The rest of soph and fresh. There is going to be a learning curve there. As any decent college hockey fan knows, there is a ton of hockey left and anything can happen on any given weekend.
  3. I don't know about students know a days but it absolutely kills me to go sit inside during nice fall days in Fargo. That and at NDSU there is a decent student turnout and then halftime hits and 1/4 clear out to go hit the sauce.
  4. In looking at the polls which of the 12 teams below them in the top 20 would you bump ahead? How about UMD being 1-3 with 4 home games sitting at 15? Probably not the start they were looking forward to.
  5. Rankings don't mean anything right now. They did not go into OT twice. Who cares what Gorg says.
  6. I haven't been able to watch the Miller show, but I've been to all 4 Bison games. I agree with Scott Miller's assessment there. The Bison didn't run the ball well and a pick 6 and a TD in the endzone by Marcus Williams saved their bacon. I am nervous as you know what about them beating Southern Illinois and Mr. Lennon this weekend.
  7. There is some good football being played by BOTH TEAMS up I29 right now. I don't know why it is so difficult for some adults to acknowledge that. I hope und keeps beating ranked teams, good for you guys. On a side note, how about Jake Miller and Ryan Smith. Two years ago these two were dominating ND high school football. Now both are key contributors as sophomores on top 1aa teams. I love it.
  8. Huge "win" for the Gophers. I would guess the offseason coaching changes haven't hurt.
  9. Can someone from the UND side explain how Weston Dressler was used when he played there? Slot...wr...rb? I am not claiming Ryan Smith to be the next Dressler but the kid sure has the skill and the work ethic, I hope they continue to find ways to get this ND kid the ball....oh and make Leslie Frazier can take some notes for Harvin as well.
  10. As ignorant a statement as there is. I don't care who says it about which side.
  11. Great. I dont care. As I said, I wish ndsu and und had done it together and were in the same conference. But alas, they didn't, and we are limited to Internet d@ck measuring chirping instead.
  12. The beauty of these conferences is that no matter who your conference opponent is, you literally have no idea how the game will turn out. Unlike the old ncc where a majority of the outcomes were decided prior to the game...it truly is any given Saturday. I just wish that und and ndsu had gone together and were in the same conference today.
  13. So what you are saying is: cannot try to have a conversation regarding WHAT SHOULD BE the biggest sporting event in the state every year. Gotta love the Internet. Where you can go to whatever site you please. I personally am a bison and gopher fan. Do I dislike und? Oh hell yeah! Doesn't mean I don't repect their athletic programs. A person is able to go to opposing message boards and athletic events simply by using a little common sense or logic....kinda nice to come visit where it's not daisies popping up and sunshine everyday with little kids whistling and playing in the flowery fields. However if you don't think your fan base is like that (smug...arrogant...etc)....well then YOU ARE that percentage of that fan base. We are all the same, folks. Just root for different teams. Whenever the Sioux and Bison meet the playoffs down the road, it will be the biggest athletic event in the history of ND. Carry on, on hope UND represents North Dakota well today.
  14. My bad. You get the point. Good luck against Idaho.

    Idaho

Good luck und. Give that Bismarck kid the ball!
  16. Does it matter when they were won? The fargodome is filled with fans every game who were part of those eras. History breeds tradition. Like the maple leafs or les habitants in the NHL, you can't take it away. It's not like the Sioux hockey team has been racking em up recently either. I know it's nice to just make stuff up to support your side of the story. Lately? The bison made a run to the semis. A pretty impressive one at that. And while it is nice to reflect on, most of us bison fans are still disappointed a little just in the fact that they gave the eventual champ all they could handle on their home field and what possibly could have been....and excited for this year and a chance to knock down that door. That is, after all, kind of what being a fan is all about. I see and hear 7>5 all the time. Then when I see 8>1 it doesn't count?
  17. I don't care how good Sioux falls is/was. Schools like ndsu and und should mop them. A Lennon coached team would've beat them in warm ups.
  18. So now we debate past schedules? I'm sure someone will convince the other in this argument. It's pathetic that this great rivalry has been reduced to this.
  19. Now I gotta worry about this with my favorite college hockey rivalry in a few seasons too.
  20. Certainly isn't UMNs fault that Penn State started a program that made this thing a go from the start. Anyway, pointing fingers does nothing. I'm missing Bison-Sioux football games, I hope the same doesn't happen to Gophers-Sioux hockey.
  21. Where is the Gopher fan anger? Most are angry about going to the BTHC and want the WCHA to stay as is. As far as Moorhead State, I think it is garbage if they say they are gonna start a program. They have a terrible history of athletics.
  22. So ... you stopped reading all the crap out there about the new conference.........and then to sum it up you can't buy all the media coverage? I'm not sure how the TV deal would work for the new conference. Would UND have to step on WDAZs toes and do something completely different or would they be able to keep the home games with Mr. Sweeney and Co.?
  23. Minnesota didn't have a choice in the Big 10 essentially. Lucia and Maturi spoke out against it, however voted for it. Why risk membership in a premier conference in all the other HUGE sports (football, basketball) to say no to Big10 hockey? They can't go independent in those sports just to remain in the WCHA. They were put up against the wall created by Barry Alvarez. It would be like UND all the sudden saying no to the Big Sky in football, basketball, etc which would be a huge mistake as well. Most logical UMN fans are against the move to the Big10 as well, so let's not paint with a broad brush. With that being said, I am all for UND doing whatever they need to do. I feel bad for you UND fans who travel so darn well and fill up the barns at places like SCSU, Bemidji, Mankato, etc. Such easy roadtrips to make. Everyone can point the fingers at this school and that or whatever, but in the end NO ONE is in a "better" spot right now and there's nothing us fans can do to change anything about it.
  24. So how will that help with the Big Sky?
