You have not been criticized for WANTING FBS. Youve been criticized for predicting that anyone who could swing a dead cat was going to move up. Plus you have made numerous other predictions on when such movements were going to happen which never came to fruition. We could go on with all of your missed prognostications all night long but why subject us to that tortuous rhetoric again..

Please explain

The trends change with time. Schools change this all the time. Many years ago it was Jock dorms. Then they felt that the athletes and regular students needed to live together for a more well rounded college experience.(LOL) That was the trend for awhile. Then it was co-ed living. Now we are back to jock dorms.

Its against NCAA rules to contact a player from another school unless he has entered the the transfer portal. At least thats my understanding.
-
Nope. I understand it. My only surprise was making the announcement this late. There is also no guarantee he will transfer. The situation has to right so he can elevate his draft stock.

When I asked a N/A friend what he thought about this issue he said he had no issue with it. They had had a respectful relationship with FSU for many years. Then I asked about those making a stink. He said those that are making a stink about it do so because they can.

BIG bill would allow transfers with any year wait

Its about time. -
All depends on if you are full ride or not. Plus back when I played BOOKS werent provided by scholarship. NCC rule I think. Sunday meals werent provided either.

You dont know that und is the only independent in the fcs?
-
That makes no sense.

You mean like when people who travel on business? But I never said or inferred that we should have been paid for those hours. It was just a part of a laundry list showing where ones time is spent as an athlete.
-
I see my post went right over your head. I used to think like you. Then as I got older and realized the control the NCAA and schools wields over the student athletes heads. This whole scenario brings me back to a quote a player told me back in 1970 that I thought was absurd at the time. "No group of athletes is so under represented than the college athlete while no other group needs it more." But as I said. I used to think like you. Its the romantic idea of the amateur athlete. As soon as you sign that National letter of intent it changes everything. Unfortunately.

And control.

Not to get in to----we walked to school uphill both ways---but your 80s schedule would have been heaven in the early 70s.
-
WE are both on the same page. I was just bringing facts to the table that there is more work involved than what people realize.

I am talking totallity of hours put in.
-
Have you ever figured out the number of hours you put in training, practice, film study, meetings, travel time, game time, etc etc etc????Away games youre on the clock 24/7. If youre being paid to play football youre also being paid to go to class and study. How many hours a week does that entail? In fact you arent making minimum wage.

Its a teaching moment?

You need to read up on prohibition. Many underlying and back room politics and deals and how they used a different tact-false flag to get it done. And yes this is going to open up a lot of cans of worms. Huge rabbit hole. This will not pass. Its law.

When I was at Iowa one player drove a brand new Riviera and another a new Toranado. Not to mention they both had hand stiched boots and the best clothes. The one player was from Ohio. When we played OSU I didnt need my two tickets as my parents couldnt make it so I gave my tickets to him. When I say gave I mean gave. I never thought of charging a teammate for tickets that I wouldnt be using. After the game his relative came over and gave me an envelope. When I said I didnt want anything the player told me YOU TAKE THE MONEY. I said ok. When I got home there was more money than face value in that envelope. I guess he appreciated the tickets.

Let me say this. The NCAA sucks and has always sucked in my collective memory. They have guidelines-rules-laws that they arbitrarily enforce. Did I say they suck? My stance on this issue varies as I can see the rabbit hole this can go down. But I also have seen the ineptness of the NCAA at work except when it comes to making money off the backs of the athletes that they hold rule over. So in fact I like it and dont like it. But I understand it if that helps. Did I say the NCAA sucks?
-
Analysis????? Dont need it when these athletes after the fact admit to it. Facts matter. Youre avoiding it. Compliance office in the early 70s? LOL LOL
-
Youre kidding??? Right???? View the documentary on Marques Dupree. Read the report on Reggie Bush and a host of others. Plus its not just the big names who get paid. The first scandal that I ever heard about was Illinois and the coach was Pete Elliot. That goes back to the 60s. There is also documentary proof of players getting paid to play football and not having to attend class that goes way back to the beginning of football. I also have personal knowledge of players who got paid while I was at Iowa. Fantasy????

What you dont understand is it has nothing to do with the rules he signed up under as the rules have changed. This is in play. The NCAA just has to figure out how to manage it. Promoting himself to adoring youth??????
