  1. Don't disagree...trying to figure a way to kick-start that...second scoring line hasn't worked...clearly LJ was the straw that stirred that drink last year- I say now in retrospect
  2. Benching Wilkie and Hoff, eh? Maybe for this physical series that makes sense...it is now or never time for Wilkie...benching him now essentially sends him packing... I might switch JJ and Brock in your combo...can always double shift or switch as a mid-game adjustment.
  3. I personally want to take the pressure off of Gardner and Pogo to score. I think they would do well to just focus on hard-nosed hockey in a third line assignment. I want to break up lines- even one's that have been working...I hypothesize that some of the success of the Bowen line has been the match-ups they've been given.
  4. Just having Jost in gives me a boost, so it certainly is having a good effect on the boys. This is essentially playoff hockey now down the stretch- fighting for position. You want the best seed you can get in Fargo, not to mention home ice for the first round of NCHC...although maybe we don't want that??? $$$ vs : )
  5. After 6 mos of hockey, he isn't out of shape anymore.
  6. We have 6 games before the playoffs..we gotta figure it out
  7. Experiment.... Gersich Jost and Wilkie Yon Bowen and Boeser Gornall Gardner and Pogo JJ Hoff Smith Last chance for Wilkie. Put Boeser with some energy guys. See if Gardner and Pogo can score with the pressure off of them
  8. Boeser has to be dinged up- there is no way that he has regressed as a player this much in one year
  9. I'm going to burn down Berkely, because of m not getting my way
  10. I feel like nobody other than Jost is reqularly able to create time and space by beating a defender. That to me is the driver of our offensive issues. Guys have to be able to beat guys.
  11. Boeser does appear disinterested...
  12. First home win all season
  13. This is crazy...gotta pump one in
  14. Love hearing that!
  15. I know that you aren't serious, but just o remind folks- 7 is awfully early in the development process...I coach U8...At this age, it is all about agility, balance and coordination...reps, small area, lots of touches...love of the game. Far too often I see young kids get too heavily drilled...makes them look like rock stars young, but misses a lot of things that will ultimately make a stud U16...they gotta love it in order to do the real development things that take place between 12 and 16. Also, the biggest variable into how far a kid will take it in the game isn't even visible until they are in puberty, when whether or not they've won the athleticism lottery becomes visible.
  16. I think UMD and DU are just on a different planet right now. To the earlier post, you just have to get in. There have been many dominant teams that get beat in the one and done...Michigan in 97, BU in 2000 paved the way for two of our Nattys. likewise we were on a different planet Parise's second year and 2011 and didn't get it done.
  17. This Millenia: BC: 10 Frozen Fours, 4 Nattys, 2 missed NCAA (both after Nattys btw) UND: 10 Frozen Fours, 2 Nattys, 1 missed NCAA id agree that they've been the best, but our win last year put us right behind them
  18. Ausmus F Wolanin D Peskie D Shaw C- poolman C- Johnson C- Poolman B- Cam C
  19. And 2 C's are non-scholarship players who get limited ice and 2 B's are freshmen
  20. Forward Grades based on performance vs expectations: Wilkie F Simo F Olsen F Gardner D Hoff D JJ D Pogo C- Gornall C Smith C Boeser B- Yon B Bowen B Jost A Gersich A
  21. It isn't #1 picks driving UMD right now, it's upperclassmen who have developed and bought into the system and their roles.
  22. I don't fault the forwards as much as the D. Our backenders are either terrible offensively or terrible defensively or both. exception being Poolman
  23. Remember we didn't have Boeser originally either...stealing him was a recruiting coup! Final piece of an NCAA title last year.
  24. Wilkie, Pogo and Gardner are all drafted...it's not an issue of recruiting, those 3 in particular are just not playing to their potential.
  25. Pretty simple recipe to beat UND last night: Don't let Boeser or Gersich beat you. There is no secondary scoring.
