There are a ton of dots that are now connecting...oh the intrigue...I wonder if someone ordered a code red?

knowing the people involved with the Englestad foundation, if they are doing something to coincide with the coaching decision, it was in-flight for a very long time, will be highly strategic, and will keep control over the capital to ensure it is operating as they intend.

yep- and the fact that its all in Michigan from a family perspective. Middle brother already at the program. Little brother already on the radar of the program.

Grant Potulny will hoist Stanley before he's done. Great guy, born hockey leader.

Smart guy, passed young. RIP Siouxvolley.

Wow- my bracket is destroyed. I thought the Big10 was better than advertised and then Sparty and Goldy proved me wrong. Trey Augustine, Isaac Howard, and Jimmy Snuggerud will all be professionals in short order.

from an entertainment perspective, I enjoy a 7-6 run and gun, skilled loss more than a 1-0 pack it in and trap win

probably never took the bar exam, perhaps using the JD like an MBA

Jason Herter has a very, very good resume...could the fact that he is still alive in the NCAAs with Western be part of the reason we haven't heard anything?
-
I don't have someone in mind. I can think of reasons for and against many guys. Nobody is jumping to the front of my mind as the clear and obvious choice that I was hoping for.

It is funny how our biases come through when its all words on an internet screen. I clearly didn't know Raboin- so was not supportive. I do know Chyzyk and have been supportive. As positions about both are brought forward, and some of our minds become more open and biases discarded, it seems like both of those guys are up and comers that should be on a short list...but I can't help thinking that there's somebody we aren't thinking about who is the right guy for right now that could maybe bring in some boy geniuses with passion and groom them to return us to our rightful place of a perennial NCAA national champion conversation

LAX...could it be Matt Greene coming for a visit?
-
hoping he has time blocked out on his schedule for this purpose today!!!!!

I agree with this entirely, on both key points.

man, Carle is younger than Johnny Toews...
-
ABsolutely, my point in the above is that the same thing applies with head coaching decisions. It takes a lot of courage to pull the trigger on David Carle for example when he was a young boy wonder...it was a great risk that has paid out for whomever was his biggest champion.

It is ironic isn't it how they re-tread failed rather than give somebody new a look. Its that way in corporate America too. I remember before getting a break sitting there and thinking "you won't give me a shake with a proven track record of excellence albeit a click down, but you will hire the dude who has been fired from the job at 3 different companies?!" I then learned the sad fact that many people making the hiring decisions are mostly concerned about fall-out to themselves rather than what is best. Easy excuse if guy fails to say, well he was experienced as opposed to taking a chance and having somebody fail and you having to deal with the consequences. "I told you he wasn't ready for that responsibility yet, but you didn't listen to me"

I just had to look it up. The first games I took her to were Sioux vs Gophers and it would've had to have been the 2007/2008 season. I looked up the schedule and the date. We played the Gophers at home 12/7 and 12/8. The record shows that right around puck drop on 12/8, the temp was -25 without windchill lol
-
I remember the first time I brought my then girlfriend now wife to a UND game. She had never been in -25 ambient temps with a wind coming across the prairie...she was pretty funny. I told her there's cold, then there's Grand Forks in January cold.

Got my facts on the 1980ish parking deal. There was a street/alley that ran behind the house facing University Park where my dad had lived in the basement during school. On a map it looks like it runs between 2nd and University, parallel to them. The older owner of the property had remained my dad's friend and allowed him to park on the backside of the place for hockey games. I think it was technically illegal, like kinda on the shoulder or perpendicular onto a tiny driveway into a shed or rear garage small structure, or something like that. But there had been a permission given and the owner wasn't going to report him and the police weren't going to bother an unreported parking violation on a back street that wasn't obstructing traffic during a 2 hourish window. We also parked legally in the driveway off University from time to time when the owner was out of town. Funny, looking at the map, it felt like we were running miles as a 5/6 year old...it was probably less than 1/2 mile away. It was cold though, I remember that well!!!

Johnson's coaching ability goes without saying.
-
only reason this would ever happen is if you are happy with program results and firing a head for issues unrelated to the on ice product
-
I don't think anybody is lobbying for them to be THE guy right now (at least i'm not), but they have promising careers that might make them nice staff additions supporting a head coach and being groomed

Duloot did have and lose this year's Hobey favorite

i did look, for the record, and it was by a house on the 2300 hundred block where he had lived in a basement when he went to school there in the 70's. Not sure if we parked there exactly. I think he parked on the street behind it. I dunno, I was little and its been 40 years.
