  1. I’ll attest to that! even if you test positive don’t let the media fear mongering get you. Media based fear was way worse for me than the disease itself. Hang tough!
  2. That balancing act kept me up many nights when I was coaching my son in Mites. I was terrified of hurting his love for the game. Life became much easier when I released him to the game and professional coaches. Now I just play with him in garage or on occasion on the ice for fun. The thing is the game is a lot more fun when you are good at it, so you gotta develop and you gotta learn while still keeping it fun. That’s the balance. It’s also important to have perspective- just because you want Junior to play at a high level doesn’t mean they want to or are physically capable. I see it with some teammates of my son- we play AAA hockey and the funnel just keeps getting narrower. Some kids love hockey and work hard at it, but just don’t have the tools to stay at the top, and that is perfectly okay, but the parents are obsessed and worried.
  3. I wouldn’t do it unless it was egregious. You can do whatever you want. I have an inordinate amount of power in my professional life, so I yield power very delicately.
  4. I like it when my kid’s hockey mom is engaging in the “game time” antics you describe...especially when in our room
  5. It is definitely the parents. I’ve encountered truly dirty teams at 10U AAA where kids are literally trying to hurt other players. Kicking guys when down, spearing, cross checks to back of neck below the helmet. It’s awful. there are people out there that believe it’s assault on skates rather than hockey. I have no problem with some good, hard-nosed physical play; but intent to hurt is learned and wrong. I’ve lost my cool a few times as papa bear when I’ve watched teams and players intentionally target and try hurt skill players.
  6. Get out and see Pinto...he’s going to be in the National next year. He is the most NHL ready player in college hockey right now. He could seriously play for Ottawa right now.
  7. By golly I sure hope so...maybe Mrs. Mishmash brought juice boxes.
  8. omaha is very average...we allowed them to take us off our game. I see it in youth hockey when particular teams give great teams fits and force them to degenerate off their game. We didn't play the way we can. Omaha capitalized on its opportunities. I'll give them that. Not impressed by them at all though.
  9. Officiating is awful. I’m sorry- these clowns need to go. I’m ready to donate to someone’s favorite charity so these guys never ref another NCHC game.
  10. Early reports are showing that La Cordon Bleu and the USC women’s quidditch team are locks
  11. The NCAA has determined that scotch and cigars represent oppressive patriarchy thus must be banned. So will the use of binary pronouns. As Math and Statistics are also inherently racist, no quantifiable metrics shall be used in determining the field. Also the committee shall not consist of college hockey experts, coaches or ADs; that would not achieve the desired diversity and would be a threat to democracy. It has thus been decided that a popular vote in the states of NY, CA, TX, FL, PA, and Ohio shall determine the field.
  12. Why is it that so many people are so bad at their jobs. I deal with it every single day and am sick of it.
  13. Back...but f’ing in and out. I am sick of paying for garbage
  14. Pretty much a must win tonight for USA....path gets a lot harder to medal if we face Canada or Finland in the quarters.
  15. Tie-breaking in IIHF is head to head if two teams are tied. if more than two teams are tied, it goes to points earned among the tied teams. If still tied, like the case right now with CZE, RUS, and USA, then it goes to goal differential.
  16. All of that is true, and concur they are better than their record. All teams face adversity though...we were down half of our regular D corps...DU cannot be happy with their pod performance.
  17. Biggest surprises from the bubble: SCSU and UNO on the positive and DU on the negative. The bubble can’t make someone’s season, but it probably can wreck someone’s season. biggest surprise for UND: Gaber...he introduced himself to the NCHC in a big way. Kid puts the puck in the net.
  18. Like the top 9 too. Pinto will likely be gone next year. Gaber going to be a Cagguila.
  19. Assuming another win vs Miami, we come out of the pod in great shape. In first with nobody winning PWR against us. 1-0-1 vs UMD 1-1-0 vs Denver 1-1-0 vs SCSU cant ask for better considering the MASH unit and surprise WJC call-up.
  20. Letting these teams beat on each other for a week before you get in the fight helps too
  21. So who all is dinged up now? yesterday was the first disappointment loss of the season. Turn the page.
