  1. NCAA tourney is one and done. !@#$ happens. You lose sometimes with the best team and you win sometimes without the best team. The big deal is you have to get to the dance. We need to get there every season and we need a coach who gets chippahs in a pipeline. Parise and Toews were the two most coveted recruits in college hockey and we got them.
  2. For the record, getting Knies and Cooley is great, but its not like the University of Minnesota is hard to recruit to. I guess they lost Eiserman, but its not the same.
  3. Within how many years and who did they bring in as associates and assistants? That is the key question. Every senior exec knows you are only as good as the people who you bring in or keep next to you. I would not bring in an unproven head coach mostly because i don't think they can bring in the right people to help immediately, and we are in an immediate correction situation.
  4. sorry i am not high on him like you are. Never call me stupid. I won't call you stupid either. Its opinion.
  5. this is exactly what Carle does and it is excellent.
  6. I am not anybody's agent. I think on the surface, a guy who was assistant at Harvard and Associate at Michigan is very attractive. Michigan won the Big 10 and Harvard won in that time frame as well at least a beanpot? (i'm not doing homework on this as I am not that invested), while both produced NHL talent. From my lens, the superstars that came to UND and took us deep made me love the program more and made me watch them all in the NHL...I followed Parise, Oshie, Toews, Zajac, Stafford, Nelson, Kristo, Grimaldi...I still pay attention when they do something. We need that again. I could go way, way back, and the guys i watched growing up, but as an adult...it was fun to watch these elite players make a go, and even if they lost in the Frozen Four, I loved watching them in the NHL
  7. love that ask...if he was associate head at Gophers, I would be way high on him
  8. did you read my comments that I believe he is being groomed?
  9. I won't go personal over a message board, but look back and see who I referenced before being more generic...it was the associate head at Michigan. Yes, Michigan. Not Augustana...a school where you might need a pulse to attend. Michigan is a program with many championships, an elite academic institution basically on par with Ivy, a track record into the NTDP and Hockey Canada. I don't know why the love affair with Rabboin...It appears he is being groomed as a high end coach, he might be a great coach and great guy, but the coach of Augustana now the head coach of the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux? That is a hard pill for an old guy like me.
  10. bro...I am so rattled...
  11. Sioux hockey must return.
  12. c'mon, its a message board- I laughed at myself when it got fired up...nobody is tough on a keypad
  13. Tom, can you get me off the hook, for old times sake?
  14. somebody called Raboin a chippah....I am done commenting on the man, as I don't know him and have no recollection of Jan Brady State nor some college in SD nobody outside of the area has ever heard of...however, I do want to ensure vocabulary is correct...a non-drafted, walk-on by definition cannot be a chippah. They can be a great player, which I am not saying he wasn't, although I don't recall him as a player...but chippaz are drafted and chippaz are full ride at 18. Chippaz are chippaz.
  15. ahhh...sounds like you know the secrets of the 2006-2010 chippaz too : ). You are correct that he is leaving.
  16. Wow...if this is true, that is telling
  17. I've seen those labeled as volunteer assistant coach as opposed to assistant coach on staff listings
  18. Might have a guaranteed severence package in the event of a change in leadership...like a change of control provision
  19. I think Assistants have contracts too, so whatever it says in there.
  20. The ties to the program or community are important for one primary reason- the new guy and his family. Somebody who spent their life in Boston might love the opportunity to run UND hockey, but convincing wife and kids might not be the easiest thing. Not ripping GF, just saying its a rural community at the northwestern edge (other than AK) of D1 hockey with really rough winters. Can't have a guy take this job and have his family unhappy.
  21. "After an exhaustive 3 day national search, we have decided that it is in the best interests of the program to maintain continuity by naming Dane Jackson..."
  22. The one answer that results in an immediate no is if the answer to any of those is #culture
  23. I'd ask him that on the way out of the interview : )
  24. If I am interviewing Dane Jackson my line of questioning would be: "You coached under both Davee Hakstol and Brad Berry, can you concisely describe the differences in their head coaching and how you feel that impacted results?" "You were associate head coach under Brad Berry, can you give me an example of what specifically you would've done differently in order to achieve better outcomes over the past 9 years?" "It is becoming harder and harder to recruit in an era of NIL$ and investment in hockey by large Universities in the Big10 and HockeyEast, how will you approach recruiting in order to make UND a top destination for elite talent?" "Have you given any thought into your staff and the organizational structure you will create to deliver results on the ice?" "How will you reinvigorate a passionate fan base and alumni network through your approach to leading UND hockey?"
