  1. wow. Miami's system really gives us fits. We can't get anything going. They are forechecking at least 3 and doubling the puck carrier. We have to adjust.
  2. I think the issue was that we didn't establish our game. Yes, the first was a disaster. We looked like deer in headlights in our end against that forecheck. Later, we played better, but we were not able to establish "our" game. We played the game that was dictated to us, and we won based on some great efforts. We need to establish our game early. Fast feet, short accurate passes. Get pucks deep, establish and play possession.
  3. we've been a Saturday night team all year. Let's play Sioux hockey and blow them out the zamboni door.
  4. to be fair...its caveated with "one" of the worst periods ever...it was not a good period.
  5. Coaches will have broken down the film from last night and should give the boys solid direction for tonight. Miami ran a very aggressive forecheck. This took away time and space for our dmen and led to some turnovers that fortunately they didn't capitalize on. When you get doubled up in your own end, you have to have an outlet. We didn't have one- they effectively took it away. Our in game adjustment seemed to be to try and stretch the zone. That isn't our typical game, so we need to figure out how to play our game under that kind of pressure. If you are doubled, someone is open. You have to pass your way out of it. You can't usually outskate two forecheckers. The dman without the puck kept defensively responsible, which probably saved some goals, but it closed off the d to d pass with any flow. Center and weakside winger have to get low. Center needs to basically play the role of a dman, and that weakside winger needs to get low on the hash. I like keeping that strongside wing a little bit higher to keep them honest. If they are running a 3 man, strong side double forecheck, we need 4 guys at or below the circles.
  6. you are correct. We found a way to win a game tonight when we weren't our best. Good teams do that. I did think we were a step slower. They came in ready to play, and their system had us in fits, as did their speed. To the staff's credit, we appeared to adjust after the first. Early on, they really took our defensemen out of the offensive side of the game. That was smart, kept us from transition, kept us pinned in our own end, dmen with backs to the attack zone and 200 feet away and nowhere to escape. Adams had a golden opportunity on the one-timer that he missed, and we did have a couple nice looks from the slot that didn't connect as well. Gutty win for us in an overall C performance.
  7. really surprised by Kawaguchi's struggles. I thought he was going to be better.
  8. 4 SOG...embarrassing for the boys. Turn it around this period or ride pine.
  9. this is a dump the garbage can in the locker room intermission. One team came to play, won every puck and physical battle. The other team...is at home.
  10. ugly, sloppy hockey.

  12. vs DU is the projection
  13. Docs with 2-3 hour breaks? You must mean between 10 hour shifts! Physicians have to work really hard these days to make enough $ to make getting that MD worthwhile. Any doc making north of $300k works for it... and many making $90-$150k work even more!
  14. Altru's tertiary care partner is Mayo. Sanford is trying to compete with Mayo. The affiliate agreement with Mayo kept decision making local while establishing a defined specialty relationship with one of the world leaders in care. Keeping operational and financial decision making local was key. A system that loses local decision autonomy becomes beholden to the mothership. As for provider comp, the general rule of thumb is that communities like GF actually have to pay more than more "cosmopolitan" communities in order to attract talent. A strong, independently managed Altru is tremendously important to the viability of the community. Its economic impact to the region is tremendous as it brings in substantial federal dollars and provides thousands of jobs across income bands and skill sets. They in turn spend money thus creating more jobs.
