  1. Well...you should know that amny domes across the the country have fieldturf and host a variety of events with no trouble whatsoever. Georgia Dome, Ford Field (a dome), Metrodome *WILL* be installing astroplay (it's a done deal). It can be done and i think it's only a matter of time before either NDSU or UND gets it which will cause the other to get it it as well.
  2. Scott, No worries friend! UND is head the way of D1 as well.
  3. I'm hoping for a blow out of WSU next week to show these guys that they are simply inataquet to face a NCC foe. Something like Breck vs. Kingsland for those of you from MN.
  4. He also mentioned that the crowd was weak and not very intemidating.
  5. I hope WSU wins so UND can destroy them next week and show teh NSIC where they belong.
  6. I know the Alerus is only 3 years old (or whatever it is)... but what are your guy's thoughts on getting synthetic grass @ the Alerus? I'm definately would be in support if they wanted to get it at the Fargodome. I think Astroturf is on the way out as it is not the most comfortable surface to play on and it sometimes causes injuries that wouldn't happen on fieldturf (mostly knee and ankle).
  7. Although i'm definately no coach...i'd like to comment on back-ups coming into the game being a "problem. I seems to me that a lot of good eams this year are moving toward rotation to keep their players fresh. If you have 2 good running backs...why not rotate them? This worked very well for us (esp. against montana and UND....it was working against UCD as well but we fumbled which sealed the win for them). The same goes for any other position. If you have 2 competent qb's...rotate. 5 good dlinemen...rotate. etc.
  8. yeah.....you're right. UND fans, after all, don't do any thing of the sort toward NDSU fans. [this represents 1 million 'rolling eyes' pictures]
  9. ?? My post was in response to Verk62's last post.
  10. D1 is a big recruiting thing. Many top notch athletes from other states to the east will coem to NDSU to play D1 ball when no D1 schools in their area offer them. You say that UND has great non-scholorship reserves? Don't you think NDSU has these as well? Of course they do. So not only does NDSU have the reserves like UND but then on top of that we have the almost double the scholorship depth. So either way you look at it...NDSU is coming out on top here. It's unfair to NDSU to ruin our SOS bu playing D2 teams and the same goes for UND. So let's just call it quits for now and wait till UND goes D1. So what if we can't say tha "it's the 115th time these schools have met in a row"...we'll still be able to say "it's the 115th time these schools have met".
  11. USD v SDSU = 114 years UND v NDSU = 110 years The NFL films does do our rivalry justice....but all good things must come to an end!
  12. There is a difference between not-qualifying for the tournament and ***being in a non-qualifying conference***. UC-Davis is not in ANY conference...qualifying or non-qualifying. Thus, they are independent....which rewards the same points as a qualifying conference opponent. I am not closed minded on this. I will believe you that UC Davis is only worth one point, but you have to show proof of this. Show me where it specifically says that UCDavis is worth only one point.
  13. Probably because it was the alst game of the season? Nonetheless, i don't think our rivalry with UND is any more important that SDSU's with USD....and those two have decided it would be best not to play. That is why i hope we don't play anymore.
  14. Even if UND should decide they want to play us...i don't think NDSU is going to play you guys. We'll be D1AA and it probably wouldn't be wise to be playing D2 teams. Maybe if you guys move up we can play again...but until then...good luck!
  15. While i don't think that the MIAA is the best conference i do think they ahve 5 good teams at the top this year (they're all 8-2). If they were all 5-5 at the top...then i would say they're all average...but they're good.
  16. I'm hoping we get into the Gateway...so a late season showing with a top ranked West KY or West IL should draw alot.
  17. Our best shot was if Winona lost then we could say they were 3rd place in the NISC and on a common opponent we blew them out of the water....but they won and now they're going to be #2 seed.
  18. The main thing that keeps the NSIC less competitive than the NCC and MIAA is the limit of 21 scholorships for football while the NCC/MIAA have 36. UMD knows this and is switch to the NCC. Not only that, but the NSIC has 2 good teams and 2 decent ones (Winona, UMD good; CSP, BSU decent) while the NCC and MIAA ahve at least 5 solid teams each year (NDSU, UND, UNO, SDSU, SCSU for the NCC for example) even if their records don't reflect it from having to play each other.
  19. I know you're good in Football and Basketball. I'm not saying the other sports are not important...you have to have a certain number of other sports to be in D1. Fball and Bball, however, are the two that you should spend the most resources on.
  20. Football and Basketball are the only 2 you need to worry about. I know you're going to say hockey but is almost independent of your athletics department with it's own facility and its own conference.
  21. Huskies is coming here to pout after we told him off on the Bisonville board.
  22. I understand what you're saying...but it's kinda funny that UMN is the only show in the state yet their attendence isn't very high.
  23. How was it that Northern IA moved up despite 2 major D1A programs in Iowa and Iowa St.?
  24. Smoked? Probably not. Beaten? Definately. Last year we beat Winona with a 2-8 team. It wasn't the prettiest victory...but we won.
