Caponi is the player UND has to be aware of out there in terms of dirty hits and such. Can’t stand that guy.
-
You are correct. I had a Birds Eye view unfortunately. Lose the draw and then scramble and get out of position and then boom, goal.
-
I can’t say if DU has done it in all of their games so far but they certainly did it against CC because I witnessed it. It pissed me off. Bad enough they’ve had their way against us for over a decade, don’t need to be a holes about it on top of that.
-
It so is. I hope UND doesn’t make it a standard practice to do that but I was glad to see our boys respond in kind last night. Just a very petty immature thing to do-trying to embarrass your opponent like that.
-
I’ve noticed a thing DU does where after they score, they skate by the opposing bench with their sticks raised high in the air. They did this all weekend long when they curb stomped CC and I noticed it again last night. I don’t recall seeing any other team doing that, or am I missing something? I didn’t notice UND do it until after their comeback started. Perhaps turnabout is fair play? Wonder if that ticked the UND bench off a little bit when DU was doing that hence Blake and Berg and I think maybe Jamernik doing it during their third period rally. Edit: I recall seeing CC’s Noah Laba do it when he scored a pretty breakaway goal for the Tigers in the Saturday game at home in response to DU doing it as well.

I just walked in the door. Went for a celebratory beer at the Crimson and Gold after that amazing comeback. My voice is totally shot, I’m emotionally exhausted, and I feel fantastic! Wow, what a game.
-
Spanky’s, Crimson & Gold, The Pioneer are typically hoping bar restaurants nearby that lots of UND fans will congregate at.

I still remember one of those majors called on Cole Smith. His back was turned to the dumb*ss DU player who skated into him with his head down.
-
I believe UND still heads out one day earlier than normal to give the players more time to acclimate to the elevation. Anyone know if they’re still doing this?

I once lived in Denver for several years. Trust me, there’s plenty of material one could use to make fun of Denver fans…

Good luck. DU jacked up the prices to levels I’ve never seen before. I believe I got the last set of tickets that we’re going for $51 a piece. The rest were selling face value at over $90 a piece. What sucks is, in order to get the cheaper tickets, I’ll have to sit right above the DU student section. Simple economics of supply and demand, I get it but man, $91 a ticket plus fees?! For two games of two seats each game, it’s more than what I paid for my CC season tickets!

I still remember paying like $9.95 to order the UND/Wisconsin championship game at the Badger Hockey showdown circa 1999 or 2000 and how long it took my America Online dial up to get the audio streaming, lol. But I’m pretty certain it was worth it because I think we beat the Badgers in overtime if I’m not mistaken.

Listening to the post game, they’re talking about being interested in seeing how Sac State QB Bennett does at South Dakota. Do they play indoors there? I understand USD has a really good defense?
-
The temperature of the water is pretty darn hot on the football thread (and for good reason). Let’s try to get a win tonight to try to at least calm some nerves.
-
Listening to the post game and there’s definitely a glass half full sentiment.
-
Do you take the east 3 or go for it?
-
In my rudimentary football knowledge, Sac State looks too fast for the UND defense.

Yah, I mis-spoke. I meant to say Coors Banquet Beer.
-
Yah, I mis-spoke. I meant to say Coors banquet beer is what he says he’d pick up and bring back to North Dakota back in the 50’s or 60’s.

I remember drinking way too much Natty Lite in college. Or should I say, I don’t remember drinking way too much Natty Lite in college.
-
My dad tells me of stories from back in like the 60’s of him driving through Colorado on his way back to GF and buddies practically begging him to load up the car with cases of Coors Light!
-
I miss Grain Belt. They don’t sell it out here. Need to pick some up at The Rite Spot whenever I drive up to Grand Forks.

Truth! My wife is the beer snob while I drink swill.

Spot on! Circa 2005, I went to a CC/Bemidji State game at World Arena and after 19 minutes and 50 seconds of a boring, scoreless fist period, CC got a break away and scored a last second goal. Me and a girl I’d been dating who was born and raised in Bemidji were practically asleep from boredom until that late goal. I was so surprised, I shot up out of my seat, with a full draft beer in my hand, and throw my arms up in celebration. Sadly, my full beer went flying in the air and landed all over two BSU fans sitting in front of me. it was like the Matrix, it all happened so fast and yet in slow motion as I tried in vain to catch a 16 ounce plastic cup of draft beer as gravity took over and the beer rained down. To make matters worse, the gal I was with turned and pointed at me, laughing hysterically, which only served to p*ss off the two beer drenched BSU dudes who were sitting in front of us even more. Their team gives up a gut punch late goal AND they get drenched in Coors Light. I apologized profusely and they were rightfully ticked off but ultimately very gracious about everything. It also helped (a little) when I ran back down to the concourse and came back with three beers, two of which for these guys. So at the end of the day, the one beer I got to drink amounted to what I ended up paying for five of them. So that’s my lasting memory of Bemidji State hockey.

I loved the Gopher color guy’s comment after Smith scored the 9th goal about rubbing salt in the wound and basically risk waking a sleeping giant for the following game. What’s Smith supposed to do, NOT shoot that puck as he’s coming down Broadway? Plus, it wasn’t like he did some epic cele after the goal.
