Thoughts after Omaha -- What the NCHC should change
Godsmack replied to The Sicatoka's topic in Men's Hockey
I'd like to see the names on the back of the officials' sweaters. Hockey East, for one, still does it as do the Women's WCHA. Can anyone explain to me what the NCHC is afraid of? Are they afraid the officials' feelings might get hurt by hecklers? -
DU 3, CC 0, final. CC played a hard game but lack DU's talent. Last week notwithstanding, during the past two months, CC leads the nation in moral victories.
-
CC needs to be tougher in front of Marble. DU getting too much time and looks at the net in the slot. So far, Marble bailing CC out.
-
It's on CBS sports
-
Despite being down 1-0, that was a solid period for CC. Particularly the last five minutes as CC really put on some good pressure and got pucks to the net and traffic in front of Gillette.
-
Maybe he's referring to the CC/DU game? Ha Ha!
-
I'm at World Arena anxiously awaiting the start of the CC/DU game. After last week's beat down and the "spirited" week of practice that the Tigers supposedly had, it'll be interesting to see how they respond. (Oh, and the last meeting a few months ago, DU won 8-1).

It's been my understanding that the NCAA would prefer that the #1 seeds ultimately make it to the FF. Because a one-and-done effectively gives a lower seeded team a better opportunity of advancing (hot goalie, lucky bounce, etc), doesn't it make sense to do a format where the first round be a best of three series at the higher seed's barn? Not to mention the guarantee of more $$ as those barns would likely be sold out?

I finally got a chance to watch last Saturday's game between the Gophers and Badgers. So after that knee-on-knee hit by the Badgers player, would Lucia now consider the rivalry in similar terms as UND?
-
Wow what a game!
-
Big push this last minute and 34 seconds from BC?
-
Nice little toe drag in tight by the NU player.
-
NU students would chant, "Safety School!" And BU students would cheer back, "Hooked on phonics!"
-
I went to the Beanpot championship about five years ago....helluva great time! Lots of creative cheers back and forth between the NU and BU student sections! BU scored three short-handed goals that year to win it.
-
Or is it, "lots of BC and NU fans disguised as empty seats"??? (Too many beers tonight...)
-
To steal a phrase from Mafia Man, "lots of empty yellow and black seats disguised as BC and NU fans."
-
Three pp's for NU to none for BC...I'm sure in the third period HE refs will try to find a way to insure a BC/BU Beanpot championship.
-
Crap.
-
Wow, this game is awesome! Harvard looks either tired, scared, or both.
-
The third place game in the Beanpot is affectionately referred to by NU fans as the "Northeastern Invitational."

After Friday's blow out loss, Haviland said in the post game show with Ken Landau that several times during the week, he had to stop practice and get on guys for goofing off and not paying attention. The results of Friday came as no surprise to Haviland. He also said that the guys were getting a little high on themselves because of their improved play over the past several weeks and the fact that almost all of their remaining games are at home. Saturday was tough-CC played much better than they did the night before....for 40 minutes. And then the wheels came off in the third. You know your team has had a bad weekend when all four of the weekly NCHC Conference awards go to your opposition!

NORTH DAKOTA FIGHTING SIOUX vs. CC - Saturday Gameday
Godsmack replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
I'm sure CC is already getting tired of moral victories but they've come a long way. I liked how they didn't roll over once it became 4-2. I think they will play the spoiler role quite well the rest of the way down the stretch. Next week, St. Cloud comes to the Springs. Go UND and go Tigers! -
NORTH DAKOTA FIGHTING SIOUX vs CC Friday game thread
Godsmack replied to Emerald joker's topic in Men's Hockey
Agreed. Haviland said a few weeks ago that he had to change up their forechecking strategy about 8 games into the season due to the lack of the types of players he needs in order to play an aggressive up-tempo style. Hence, the one lone forechecker and four players clogging up the neutral zone. -
Hmmm, that's interesting. Well, their loss. I checked his statistics and he's got 18 points. You gotta think he and Jake Randolph have to be in the conversation for NCHC rookie of the year along with Danton Heinen from DU.
