  1. So, what is the transfer rule now? In the past, and maybe still, a player could transfer once. But there are players (Driscoll and Budy come to mind) that played for or will play for three teams. Is that because they went back to juniors? Is the COVID season that never was as far as eligibility goes the reason?
  2. Yes, it is. It was my second trip to the Frozen Four. My first one was 2008 - talk about a nightmare!
  3. Not that it makes a big difference, but IIRC 2011 should read Frozen Four, not National runner up.
  4. Ref missed the call - definitely 10 minute misconduct
  5. If he did instruct his players (aka students) to lie about COVID that, to me, is a fireable offense. And speaking of fireable offenses, I wonder if there has been any discussion at the coaches' meetings about ducking a game? IMO going forward if a coach/team pulls a low class move like that at a minimum the game should go down as a loss/forfeit and count accordingly in the Pairwise.
  6. I know it wasn't Harris, but Frenchy Fuqua? The name escapes me.....
  7. I guess that Ice Breaker trophy is a participation trophy. Kinda.
  8. This week's sign of the apocalypse.
  9. I guess I semi-agree. Bringing Hain and Senden back doesn't necessarily mean they couldn't bring in Spicer. If they did that hopefully the kid knows he has to earn ice time just like anyone else. If that means he sits in the stands for a few games and decides to leave for greener pastures so be it. I don't think the possibility of Hain getting injured should be a consideration - more like 20-20 hindsight.
  10. No
  11. I kinda liked "AND THEY SCORE AGAIN!!!!"
  12. Much ado about nothing.
  13. Thanks for the response. I think you summed up the situation at MSUM pretty well.
  14. So I'm curious - do you know how MSUM stood on the issue of putting more resources into the hockey program and the league? I don't know the answer and I'd like to know if you do.
  15. They do what they are asked to do very well. Maybe Portz, Albrecht, Ness, Kunz can fulfill those roles, although maybe not quite as well but they don't plug up the pipeline. I will be happy to get beyond the #%*$ caused by Covid!
  16. I think this situation happens when they decided to ask Hain and Sneden to come back. Much as I like them both, and they certainly fit the UND culture, neither are great at putting the puck in the net. And the team needs scorers. Certainly Spicer was not likely to be a top player right away but the upside looks strong. I don't like keeping a fifth year guy around, or bringing in a one year guy from the portal, when you risk losing a potential 3 year top 6 guy.
  17. Well, you know, his mom.....
  18. Only 7 non-conf games. Must be a few more to be scheduled.
  19. So here's what we have. Scholarships (full ride for some), full cost of attendance, NIL and now change teams at will. OK, slight exaggeration on the last one. Is the death of amateur athletics at the college level imminent, or has it already happened and I missed it?
  20. Welcome back. We won a natty while you were gone.
  21. Good questions. I don't see an NCHC team not named UND or DU winning it next year. DU will lose a bunch of players but they are young and there is the portal. UND will have a mix of experience and new guys with a lot of potential. And didn't Illinois announce they were going D1 about 57 years ago? Ironically, I have seen exactly two club games in my life. One was a couple years ago. Care to guess ^ what team I saw in about 1975?
  22. Well I do like to point out that 35 year gap in NCs for DU. I do have some DU friends that don't like to hear about that.
  23. And they will still be good. They have a young team.
  24. I think the coaching staff wanted him to play another year of juniors so he bailed and went to Denver
