  1. ESPN was able to put the hockey game on in ND and NH while keeping the lax game on for the rest of the country. I think this was in response to legitimate complaints by Sioux fans. Call it whining if you want, but this game was a big deal for ND and NH residents (although NH residents can't complain too much since the game was in NH). I know little about lax, but always thought it was similar to hockey. What I had seen before was mostly the arena version. The field version appeared to be more like soccer - play keep away. However, the overtimes I watched was probably not a fair representation given the fact 18 goals were scored in regulation. What I really do not like about the sport is the crazy number of timeouts for each team and the fact they allow timeouts to be called in the middle of play like BB.

    2009 Flood

All the help we got? We helped ourselves - what a novel idea. Too bad this concept is foreign to places like New Orleans. I do not recall a single person put the blame on the government for GF flooding and burning. What is sad is this guy's opinion is likely shared by a large percentage of this country.
  3. Good for them and their program. I am counting it as a WCHA win
  4. Anyone getting 100% on the bracket challenge should start playing the lottery. Now the Sioux are gone I want to see Air Force with two Moorhead (Becker is not dressed but on the team), one Fargo and one Grand Forks player. Bemidji spanking ND is a bigger surprise than the AFA upset imo. What a crazy NCAA tourny so far. The UMD game was one of the most entertaining I have seen in some time - UNH fans would likely argue today's game was on par
  5. I was thinking the same thing, Genoway at least made up for some of his mistakes offensively. A very ugly performance for big Joe. Nobody moving their feet on that game winner. Dumb mistakes and lazy play defensively - not a good way to go down.
  6. Given that the next scheduled event is the BU-OSU game I doubt that will happen
  7. I guess Moorhead is in North Dakota - or New Hampshire. Thank you ESPN - I can't believe they actually listened. I retract what I said before.
  8. This isn't even the playoffs for Lacrosse? Really? I hate ESPN.

    2009 Flood

The dike needed some repairs - they already fixed it and sent the volunteers home. No more volunteers are needed unless a similar situation comes up. They are evacuating the Moorhead Country Club area - not far from me.
  10. I picked AF to play the Sioux in the FF. I also picked Denver to make the FF. I knew AF was a long shot, but thought Denver was a pretty good bet.

I have not heard of any evacuation plans for N. Fargo yet. My parents live in Riverwood and they have a bag packed just in case, but are good for now. South Moorhead ordered a mandatory evacuation. Oakport Township (N. of Moorhead) is being evacuated. The national guard is running the show now -they do not want any volunteers other than those in the specific areas. Traffic was a nightmare in the area today. It took my wife 2 1/2 hrs to get from her job in W Fargo to our house in Moorhead. It took me almost an hour to go from downtown Fargo to N. Moorhead (usually takes 5 min). This definately sucks.

If we are done bagging my parents (42nd Ave N) I will try and work my way to 52nd Ave S tomorrow.
  13. Any one else thinking of that Holy Cross Goalie (Quesadilla or something) puking in the middle of the game but playing through it? I believe that was at the West Regional in GF after they had knocked off the Gophers.

F/M Flood Info Very ugly prediction for us in the F/M area. Two five hundred year floods 12 years apart I live about 2 miles from the Red so unless all of Moorhead goes under I am safe. I am hoping to use this thread for others living closer to the river to post for sandbagging help. Please keep it away from a Fargo vs. GF flamefest
  15. Vanek yes -Potulny and Irmen no. As self centered as those in the Twin Cities are they probably view North Dakota as part of the USA Thanks Goon, in the 5 or so years I have lived in MN I never considered myself a Minnesotan. No matter where I live I will always consider myself a North Dakotan. I still shudder when I think about Al Franken being my senator. What's next Janine Gralafalo (spelled horribly wrong) on the supreme court?
  16. I am counting the days until I am out of MN. We are moving mostly because of logistics, but the huge deficit is a motivating factor. This year my savings on property taxes was equal to the hit on state income taxes. Given MN's deficits, I imagine ND will be a cheaper place to live starting next year (at least for me). What an insanely stupid bill. This is almost as bad as the geniuses in ND who wanted to legislate UND and NDSU playing each other in sports.
  17. This is the same guy who publicly stated the City of Fargo was at fault for a fatal car crash before any investigation had been done. The plaintiff's lawyers had to be salivating after hearing this.

    Congrats NDSU

I generally dislike basketball and could care less about most NDSU sports teams. However, it is pretty cool NDSU will be in the NCAA tourney. Nice work Bison, I hope you represent North Dakota well.

    SIOUX vs CC

CC had the best line, but I think Denver is a stronger team. Is it just me or does Lampl (#2) on CC look like he was just released from prison. Are those neck tats?
  20. Dealing with a live badger is never a good idea:
  21. The fact both breaks were clean is the silver lining. There is no reason to think he will not be on the ice in October 2009.
  22. I watched the replay again this morning and his ankle was obviously seriously broken. I am sure he spent the evening in the care of an orthopedic surgeon. Given the spot where his leg was bent the wrong way I doubt there is anything other than broken bones. From my experience this is probably a 4-6 month injury assuming the bone broke and not shattered. Hopefully he can be back on the ice to start the 09-10 season.
  23. I try and make the drive to Omaha once a summer mainly to see the zoo. If you like zoo's the one in Omaha is worth the 6 hour drive (from Fargo). The riverboat casinos are also fun.

    Jim Dahl

I am rarely serious, but I am dead serious when I say I thought Jim's pic was a pic of Neil Patrick Harris. Except for the nose the facial features are nearly identical. I am constantly getting mistaken for Brad Pitt, which is insulting. He is at least 10 years my elder

    Lucia

From what I know of sacroidosis, this should not have a permanent impact on his coaching. The person I know with it has the chronic form of it; however, I believe this is not the norm. Most cases do not come back after a lengthy regiment of steroids. I certainly hope Lucia fully recovers.
