  1. Uh, OK, Dahlberg is a big hearing aid company here in the twin cities. Sorry, guess that shows how much those ads mean to me. Also, I guess I will watch something else. And, I will keep my checkbook closed too. I used to be a very avid Sioux hockey fan, watched them since 1956, but you know, I really have preferred college FB the last few years. So, thanks, you helped me make my decision. I will only watch when they play on FSN in HD against the Gophers and any tournaments at year end. Thanks, you just saved me a lot of time and money.
  2. Ok, I will buy that, but please, do not subject me to ads that could be produced by the local high school. I am so tired of seeing the same car from Dahlberg drive across a snowy road in the middle of nowhere. What about local fanchisers of national chains, i.e. Subway, Red Lobster, Applebee's etc. I do not know how many of these are in the GF area, but between no HD and ads that are strictly amateurish it is hard to watch in real time. I now just watch the UND highlites on my DVR in between watching HD sports on other channels.
  3. Well, someone does. I get BSU hockey in HD, I get Gopher hockey in HD, I get other Big 10 sports, Hockey East etc. in HD. I get everything other than FSSN in HD. I DO NOT watch UND hockey anymore on FSSN because it looks like they are playing in a fog. I do watch other UND sports because they are on so seldom and it is my only chance to watch. There is zero chance I will ever buy a vehicle from Dahlberg motors or anything from PS Doors, whomever the &*( they are. Folks, this is a national broadcast, with national exposure. It needs national advertising or at least names that get recognized. Realize that going D1 moves UND into national visibility, not Red River Valley plus! Get an HD capability, get some nationally known advertising and do it soon. This is no longer the little school on the prairie! It will take money, but that is the price to pay if you want to be D1. My next check to UND is pending as I write this.
  4. Your property tax in Mn is determined by your county and their $ management along with local school district. Most counties planned for the reduction of state aid instigated by the republican majorities and made cuts to keep taxes close to last year. Mine dropped 3% due to a fiscally astute county board. If you want to blame someone, blame your local gov't body or that idiot UND grad, Kurt Zellars. He and his band moved the Minnesota tax bill from the high rollers in the state to all the counties and thence to the property tax rolls. Happy New Year!
  5. If UND/NCHC does not provide HD they will lose viewers. I am getting so tired of watching FSSN in std def, I only watch about half of any game any more. I can switch to FSN or Big 10 channel on Directv and get HD hockey, FB, BB etc. and the difference is like night and day. Nice to be able to watch, but after making the investment in HD TV's I expect to see HD sports coverage, when I do not, I watch it in spurts or record it and watch the highlites. In addition the advertising on FSSN is terrible.
  6. Yup, last year at Wisconsin. On my son-in-law's 60 inch HD tv against KU they look like a bad dream. The schools colors are green and white (ok pink), so why does 85% of the uniform have to be black? Not real fond of the black on the hockey team either even though they seem to win with them. FB is unattractive too. But, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
  7. But, but, but, can we please, please find some different road uniforms! They are U G L Y!!!
  8. Isn't this type of performance and post game response getting to be a regular event. Mizzou most recently comes to mind, but there are others. These kids better soon realize this is D1 not DIII. The scholarships are to perform and win, not just compete and be nice scholars.
  9. Dave Osborn 12 years NFL, One Pro bowl, 2 super bowls. Steve Myrha, 14 yrs in NFL, 2-3 NFL championships. Errol Mann 12 yrs NFL several Super bowls (I think). Myrha was from Wahpeton, Osborn born in Washington, raised in ND. Mann, from Breckenridge, Mn. All had stellar careers in the NFL.
  10. I think it will get better, or at least he might get the attention of a bigger, talented guy once in awhile. He seems to have found a way to get some talented players, but without size. I really do not understand why he cannot pull one or two of the big kids out of the Twin Cities. There are some really good big kids in southern Minn. He also will need to get into the cities like Denver, Omaha, Seattle, Milwaukee, Chicago, St Louis, etc. and get a kid or two every year that is just not quite good enough for the bigger name schools in college BB. It is not going to be easy, but if you are going to play D1 BB then make the effort to play it at a consistently high level. The "hockey school" label does not help either. Need to play that correctly to turn a kid's head to UND.
  11. Lots of successful coaches out there who can manage to get these kids to play the way they want and do what they want. I could list them, but you know who they are. Bill Fitch would have these guys running the whole practice w/o the ball until they got what he wanted them to do. The Bison put 4 sophs and a freshman on the floor just like UND and get more consistent play out of them. Jones is not the answer to this program moving forward. He has needed to recruit a few big men for the last several years and has failed. He also needs to get the players he has to play the same way every game. It is not happening.
  12. Yes, and isn't that the coaches job? Top BB coaches do not tolerate this erratic play for very long.
  13. Bison scare the hell out of the Gophers and lose by 4.
  14. As a donor and alum, I think that is unfortunate. Faison has to quit being the nice old guy and find a young talented BB coach for this program. It ain't Jones.
  15. Bison led Gophers by up to 14 in first half, trail by 3 at halftime. Started 1 frosh and 4 sophs. Are we really on track as a program to be a D1 player? Is Jones really going to be the answer? Game in a few weeks could be an embarassment. Jekyll and Hyde, wow!
  16. SDSU beat Washington on the road. As I write this the Bison are tied with the Gophers after leading by up to 12 in the first half. Bison start 1 Freshman and 4 Sophs. Very comparable to UND. Gonna be a fun next few years if UND and NDSU continue to play with the talented young players. Too bad they are not in the same conference. UND better find some "bigs".!!! Gophers come back to lead at half, but the Bison gave them fits. UND vs NDSU at the Ralph should be fun, but the Sioux better be ready, this is a talented Bison team.
  17. I hope Miller falls and breaks every bone in his body!
  18. He broke an ankle (or a wrist) early in a Minn state HS tourney game against St Thomas Academy his senior year (cannot remember which injury even though I was there) and when he got to UND I do not think it was totally healed. From then on he was never healthy enough to play up to his potential. Good size and ability, just had some bad luck and I don't think? he handled it well with the coaching staff either.
  19. Ira, what happens to these kids scholarships or partials for the second semester? Since their playing days are over, does the FB staff still have to honor them if they are indeed guilty of the violations etc.?
  20. Great rebound from the debacle in Mo. Way to go ladies.
  21. Please avoid the nasty comments, OK, and have another beer. 21-0, are you kidding me? A coach has to make some adjustment, some substitution, something to change the situation before it gets to that point. The game was over already at that point. And you can call my comments stupid, but that is a fact.
  22. Maybe it is time. Falling behind by 21-0 in BB out of the gate can influence people.
  23. I agree, 14-16 wins max. Probably 2-6 with the remainder of the NC schedule and 8-4 or 9-3 in the conference. Nothing to really get overly hyped about until next year.
  24. Well, you can't fire the team. Not the best move when you are heading into a year where conference play on a national level is coming up, but I think that Jones has had his chance. Time to move on, but Faison, to my knowledge, has not fired anyone (women's hockey coach?). Not too sure about keeping Gene much longer either. It's crunch time for the two UND BB programs. I am tired of being embarassed by these performances.
  25. Ladies fell behind 21-0 today at Mizzou, men are trying to outdo them.
