  1. Really? I have watched this team as closely as I can from 350 miles away, attended a couple of away games and watch as many games as I can on FSC. What I see is a team and program with little discipline, some talent, lack of size, individual play, erratic peformance, and little significant coaching input when the game is on the line. Of the major sports at UND moving to D1 this program seems to be the one that is struggling the most in spite of some late season success last year. Without some major changes including adding some size and even perhaps a coaching change I do not see this program being over 500 in the Big Sky and likely would not be top 3 team in the NSIC. As much optimism for the future that has been created by the FB, VB, and WBB programs this year, the MBB inconsistencies just do not boon well for the immediate future. So far I see no help coming in for next year. Faison has got to really consider where he wants this program to be. Sorry, but my early season optimism after the Montana game and the NDSU win is fading fast. Perhaps these GWC teams are better than I think, but I doubt it.
  2. This map is the funniest thing I have seen since Australia was at the top of the world. Maybe we should combine ND and SD again and let NDSU be the only college in the state and join the Big 12 where they would certainly dominate for years to come. What a joke.
  3. C'mon, a respectable loss to OU would be worth 10 times a victory over CSU for NDSU for national publicity. And do not tell me about how strong the Gophers are in FB. I have lived in the Twin Cities for over 40 years and believe me virtually no one cares here except the folks over 70 and the former players. Again, if you beat a big 12 or big 10 team that is over 50/50 give me a call. Until then be glad you have the FCS championship, it is well deserved, but certainly not worth the arrogant attitude NDSU folks project.
  4. Call me when NDSU has beaten a major FBS team with a winning record. Then you can gloat. Minnesota at the end of the year would have beaten the Bison. It took most of the season for Marquis to remember how to play QB and the new coaching staff to get them playing together. Iowa and Illinois were both an embarassment to the Big 10 at year end. I have never been jealous of people with special boots for cleaning the barn.
  5. What the ^&*( is FSC? Idaho was an FBS team coming off a bowl game the first year as was NIU. TT was a bowl team. USD played up, beat Minnesota and played AF, UW etc., SIU played NW and Illinois, SDSU played Nebraska and BSC teams. NDSU plays down in the FBS, admit it, ISU had been a doormat for years, KU and Minnesota were programs in disarray, maybe still are. The MAC is nowhere near a competitive FBS conference on a national level. When do you want to shedule UND every year and both schools can make some money?
  6. Appy State got huge publicity for years after beating Michigan and Cal Poly took UW to the woodshed for 4 qtrs. This just confirms my comments that Taylor/Bohl are just resume building and are really afraid to tackle an FBS team that has a recent winning history as other former NCC Dakota schools and even MVC schools have done. CSU should be an FCS program. Interesting to see if Taylor thinks he is ready to be AD at Minnesota with his ego and track record.
  7. Sam Sura of S St Paul reportedly deciding between UMD and Augustana.
  8. It will, or should be, refreshing to have a QB and WR's that can diversify this program's offense from what we have endured the last two years. Even with Landry healthy and erratic the QB play and lack of consistency with dependence on the running game and defense probably cost a couple of games or made the losses worse. Really looking forward to a balanced offense that can move the football with some regularity and keep the defense off the field more. Hats off to the FB team. Good luck in the BSC as we enter playoff eligibility.
  9. It will be interesting to see where Sura from SStPaul goes. I have not heard anything here locally. Anyone else? Would be a good get for UND at RB.
  10. Directv channel 658 titled RSNa in the Twin Cities, guide does not indicate whether HD or not. If they pick up the FSSN feed it will not be. Not sure if the Wisc crew sends an HD capability.
  11. This is the most sane thing I have seen from a Bison fan on this site. We should not undermine each other, we should support each other against other D1 schools. As a small population state, we should be united against the "big boys".
  12. Great hockey game tonite with a 2-1 victory over the Gophs. Does anyone know how many FB recruits were there for that great experience? Any names?
  13. I do not know the details of the HD broadcast, but I can watch FSN on 668 in HD with the Goofy announcers or the not HD broadcast on FSSN on 617 with the UND broadcasters, both on Directv.
  14. Wonderful for you. There is zero chance I would ever buy from either company, but it is really great that they are willing to broadcast the games. On the other hand, tonite I can watch UND vs the Gophers on either FSN or FSSN on Directv. FSN has HD, FSSN does not. Give you one guess which one I will watch and why. All the ads on FSN are for ND too. Again, my big complaint is not getting FSSN in HD. I am sure these are fine businesses and glad the commit to the broadcast, but HD is the way it is today and UND is not keeping pace with other national college hockey telecasts.
  15. Unfortunately the Gophers do not look favorably on UND much any more either. Leaving for the Big 10 is part of it, but notice, really take notice, that NDSU has developed a much stronger relationship with U of M in recent years, at least in athletics; WBB, MBB, FB, SB, Wrestling etc. The Bison have created a healthier rivalry in more sports for whatever reason, nickname or whatever. Their relationship has grown while UND's, at least on the surface has diminished. Good or bad? Remains to be seen. Interesting note: Fox Sports North just flashed reasons to visit ND, they showed Newman Outdoor Field. Wow, what a downer.
  16. Yes, we are all ears waiting to hear some details and visions for the program.
  17. Numerous studies show that fundraising is more succesful if there is a specific need highlighted for the money. I am tired of hearing this on again off again indoor practice facility, new turf etc. I would consider a separate gift for this type of expenditure, but I pretty much hear zilch about specific needs at UND. Does anyone know the real story? Do they only approach the high rollers?
  18. I am a pretty conservative old man, grandpa actually. I read most if not all of Orender's posts. Seems a bit flakey, but I did not see anything so obviously offensive or weird that would negate a talented kid coming to UND. Big head, yes, strange yes, but not enough to prevent a pretty talented kid from coming. I am assuming that either another or equal player is now available. Hope that is the case. UND needs serious help at the QB position and quickly.
  19. Mathison does the best imitation of a concrete pillar I have ever seen. Why bother taking him along.
  20. My intial reaction watching this video is that he has good size, good feet, has a strong accurate arm with a quick release and if needed can run the ball. If his head is screwed on right, he may be a real gem. Lots of time between now and Sept, but I am generally very optimistic about this kid. Confidence is good in a QB if he channels it correctly. I also notice he has some pretty good receivers. Any chance of picking up one or more of those kids too. Go UND FB!!!!
  21. Western Michigan is playing UMD now on 613 on Directv. HD of course too! CBS Network sports.
  22. I get FSSN on 623 and 617 on directv in std def for UND sports. I get FSN on 668 and 669 for UM sports and UW hockey and Wild etc., big 10, all sports on 610-615, and BSU hockey on 22 all in HD. I admit, I am glad to get FSSN, but it is time to move to an HD signal! What is so holy about staying in Std Def, people?
  23. Thanks for the advice, I will quit complaining, and I will move on. If you folks wanted to watch a premier hockey program on B&W TV with snow why should I care. I guess you are all still using landlines too out there on the prairie.
  24. I don't think you can match what I have pledged in a legacy fund unless you are quite fortunate, but that said, if BSU and their Public TV station can broadcast in HD then so can UND. We do have it pretty good. I remember as a kid listening to the first UND national championship in Rochester NY on a static filled radio so I know how far we have come, but c'mon, we play in a $100+ million arena and on TV it looks like the fog just rolled in off the Red River. Don't compare us to the Bison. Just get UND into the 21st century. Do you know anyone who has bought a standard def TV in the last 5 years? It is time to move on.
