My biggest problem with the whole thing is how they have framed the vote. You can vote no on the waterpark and yes on the sales tax. The waterpark can get shut down, but the city council can still decide to use the sales tax and build the waterpark regardless what the public's voice (vote) says.

Good Luck It would be great for people wanting to watch the Sioux to get the opportunity to do so. I think all the money will be stuck into the webcast thing, so it might be a long road.

Cancel all sports, but hockey? You had better read the NCAA rules and regulations regarding this.

Everyone in this city and in this state wants to keep young people here. When push comes to shove, in the state legislature and the city councils, virtually no money is dedicated to this cause. Why not raise the sales tax in Grand Forks and give tax incentives for young people to move here or to stay here? I guess that would be tax welfare and people would be against it. We have all types of problems with outmigration, but yeah, let's raise taxes to build a waterpark. This state will continue to lose people until someone steps up to the plate and actually adresses this issue. I guess people want a waterpark more than they want a thriving and growing city.

I don't think ScottM ever judged anyone. In fact he said that you don't have to be rich to attend this game. It is a matter of priorities for some people.

It is your choice not to pay the money and sit and home and watch the game. Just don't criticize the people for shelling out the money. The last time I checked it was sold out, so I guess the Alerus Center will be filled on saturday with 13,500 people wearing suits and ties who are not watching the game, just schmoozing. I'm really going for the social aspect and to sit and talk about the stock market and maybe roam around and find some of my friends. Maybe find the Dip 'n' Dots stand or the roasted almonds stand. Is there some kind of game going on there?

Friday's game is on CSTV, which is on DirecTV, therefore any bar with DirecTV should be able to carry the game.
