  1. The team actually looks a bit better as a whole this year. Missing the obvious talent of Joc and Mo, but the passing is better, the team runs 3 lines consistently and works in the 4th, and has scoring potential on the 3 lines. Also better defensively. Hirschy and Krzyzaniak are the real deal and don't play like freshmen.

  2. The no huddle offense does not equal a hurry up offense. It can, yes. Tradition has it that you only go no huddle if you want to hurry the pace. But look at the trend in college football over the last 5-10 years and you'll see a good number of teams going to the no huddle offense, line up and then look over to the sideline to get the playcall. It takes some of the presnap read pressure off of the quarterback and puts it in the hands of the OC. I have no problem with this type of offense and to be quite honest, Mollberg actually looks better running it that way.

  3. It was easy to see that Pursuit of Excellence was outmatched last night, being the high school kids that they were. UND had more goals than POE had shots on goal, but it was still interesting to see all the new names and how the team might look post-Lamoureux.

Also fun fact, for the exhibition, they ran a full 5 minute 4v4 overtime and a shootout.

  4. What I can't understand, correct me if you all saw something that I didn't, is why we started out the game by moving the pocket and then stopped doing it after one bad throw. On the first drive (successful drive I might add) we moved the pocket, rolled Mollberg out, and helped relieve some of the pressure on the linemen. But after that, we only rolled out one other time, and then settled into a regular passing game where we tried creating a pocket. We all saw how well that worked out. So why?

  5. SDSU points off of turnovers = 14 (plus icing the game)

UND points off of turnovers = 0

There is the difference in the ball game. Bartels' two turnovers really killed us in this. His interception was just brutal, throwing into the strongest part of the SDSU zone (4 defenders around the 1 receiver) on a drive in which we were marching down the field and needed to score to keep up the early momentum. Then the fumble which he just needed to get down, he wasn't going to gain another yard against 2-3 defenders. Terrible mistakes. I think they stuck with him for too long before inserting Molberg.

Molberg = mobility, escapability. Which we needed against a 4 man rush that was just pushing our linemen around. Against any other quality d-line, I think Molberg should get more action.

  6. This volleyball team has amazing potential. They've shown for stretches that they can stick with quality teams from major conferences, they just lose focus at times and have a tendency to tighten up and force things when they lose a couple points. When that happens they give up points in bunches and that's the turning point of the matches they lost this weekend. Reduce and play through those and this team could make some noise come end of the year.

  7. Very well played by UND, and I think a smart move by Hardee to play some of the 2's/3's in that third set after building a lead. They still finished it off nicely and showed we have some depth and some good younger players.

Really interested to see how they do against A&M tonight. A&M played ISU tough this morning, but they were also hitting some unreal shots as well.

  8. What's your opening play? I hope they try and turn the building on with a heave to Hardin to or run go, go Golliday

Gonna go crazy, 4 WR set but run draw with Miller.

  9. Two deep with RB's is always fluid and never really a true indicator of playing time. Jake and Jer are similar players, so third and short I doubt you see either of them in there. Look at last year, even with Miller and Sutton the 1/2, Garman still received playing time. At RB I consider it more of a 3 deep position the way UND has played it.

  10. Looking at the two deep, I'm a bit disappointed to not see Butler in the two-deep at safety. He has all the physical tools you could want, just must not have the mental down yet.

  11. I would have no problem with Mollberg getting into the game for some reps, if they are truly a 1a/1b kind of thing, then I think you need to look at getting him some reps in what should be a tuneup game. I'm not saying play each QB 1 half, but maybe Bartels for 3 quarters, then insert Mollberg and let him run the actual offense, not the clock-killing offense UND prefers to run in those situations when up by 50 :)

  12. I'm liking the sounds of the two true freshman QB's taking reps and having success. It's great to have younger guys in there looking to push those ahead of them. I know Mollberg and Bartels are pushing each other, but it's also good to have the younger guys push as well.
