Drake's goal was an effort goal that has been sadly lacking this year, one that starts all the way on the defensive end and pays out with a great finish.
Embarrassing. Can't clear, can't transition, no offensive pressure. This team went from cruising mode swarming in the second, suddenly Miami gets a power play and the game completely turned. Trash period.
Talented players with no discipline can win against equal competition. They will not beat better teams or in adverse conditions. This can be seen by lack of any real "signature" win by Jones along with the horrible out of conference record and road record. He recruits talented players but then there is no development or discipline after they get here. His sample size has been allowed to grow for long enough. UND needs a change.
Listening to the announcers earlier, he only averages about 9.5 pts/gm against NDSU. They just have his number defensively and you can see what that is. They roll a lot of double teams his way and collapse on him when he penetrates. Good defensive coaching by NDSU, have to give them credit. But Hooker also was just plain cold with some of his open looks both games.
Epitome of stupid. The game is lost, just walk away from all the junk at the end. Things didn't go your way, don't do something stupid to jeopardize time for the next game.
Some of the free throw woes are also coaching. Free throws are one of those fundamentals that can be taught and all players should spend time outside of practice. Those are easy points, gimme points, that simply need to be made. There's no reason why players should be shooting 60% or less from the line.
