Pass defense is struggling but the run defense has been fantastic. The kicker is a real struggle. We were hearing all summer/camp that it's constant touchbacks, so why aren't we seeing any kick come close to a TB?

If Brady was on the field in the first half, then it's odd he didn't get the short yardage carries that went to JJ. If Brady wasn't on the field at all in the first half, I could see it as punishment for some violation of team rules or such.

Ketteringham looks nervous. There are times he has protection but starts looking to bailout early.

Season ticket holders that own tickets but didn't show probably factored in.

Encouraging signs tonight: Ketteringham was rock solid. Our running backs are as good as always. Line started grinding better as the game went on, opened some holes, albeit against lower competition. Pass protection looked pretty good overall. Defensive line and pass rush look good. Pretty much any pass longer than a 3 step drop was pressured. Punter looked like he's good enough to carry the load through the season. Rudolph used a screen pass and attacked vertically in the passing game. First impression discouraging things: DB's do not look good, inability to defend the quick passing game. Offensive line looked shaky early against inferior competition. Drops, drops, drops. Too many dropped passes that hit the receiver in the hands. Kicking game issues. Young kicker unable to convert within 40 yards. Kickoff coverage was atrocious. Inability to get quality reps for younger guys or guys lower on the depth chart. This game should have been a blowout by half and two's/three's taking all reps by the start of the 4th. Obviously there are more things, but these stick out to me.

You know, despite the score right now, I can't say that I'm all that encouraged by this game. There's a whole lot that needs to be corrected before facing better competition.

Defense has to figure out how to stop a quick passing game. Rush can't get there on a 3 step drop.

Honestly if the pass defense doesn't improve a bit before Sam Houston we're going to get run out of that house.

I've noticed a lot of jersey grabbing by their DB's, could have something to do with it, but we also don't have many burners.

Yeah, thought this kicker could put it out of the end zone? Should probably do that for the rest of the season if he's actually capable.

Imo, Brady is the best running back for this offense.

Man coverage and zone both looked suspect there. Not exactly inspiring confidence but who knows.

As for watchbigsky, every time I try to go to the feed I just get "playback network error" so apparently that's a no go.

So is anyone else's pluto feed broken up into 15 minute segments?

Accurate throw, good catch, nice strength to break the tackle. All around a good play.

Pluto feed isn't really great, lots of pixelization. Offensive line has not looked good on running plays but Ketteringham looks solid.

Tough timing on the game being midday on a Thursday.

Should be a win but I don't think Rudolph knows how to orchestrate a total blowout. Short of defensive scores or breaking a number of long runs, this will be a 30 point win and no more.

Last year was a no-win for Schmidt. Commit extra bodies to try and stop the sieve that is your run defense and leave your young corners on an island or drop more into coverage to protect those corners but let teams get 6-7 yards up the gut each run. Not to say the were times i was frustrated with his calls but the defense last year was so bad due to injuries that any coach would have looked bad.

Some of Keaton's best games and best moments came when we were down and utilizing a catch-up, hurry-up kind of offense. I remember one game 2 years ago I think it was, that he put the team on his back and carried the offense because most of the time they were hurrying up and he was controlling much of the playcalling at the line. Was he the best passer? No. But I think he was another example of the offense just not playing to a strength.
