I like Levias for 10-15 mins. He’s a calm player out there. Can hit a shot, can dribble the ball.
-
Trent, Eaglestaff, Danielson, Omot and T. Brooks, Levias with Norman sprinkled in. That’s it.
-
Chaves has left his perch to talk to Brekke

Regardless of the Jones vs Sather comparison, this program deserves better than we have had for the last 5 years. I would love to be winning conference championships every other year like the xDSUs have done it seems but let’s just start with being in the conversation. We are, right now, what WIU is in football.
-
I’m looking to roll with something like this to start: Trent or Brooks Eaglestaff BJ Levias T Roll with Brooks as the 6th man and then smaller roles for Danielson, Norman and Mathews from there and you can maybe sprinkle in some Sueker if desperate.
-
I guess I would consider Ihenacho, Paul Bruns and Omot all high end talent. Brooks and Eaglestaff are also fairly talented. On the X’s and O’s part I’m comparing him solely to Brian Jones.
-
I was pretty excited about Herbst as well.
-
Sather has also been able to recruit some high end talent. Yeah he hasn’t retained it and I guess Jones did but that was an entirely different world of college basketball where if you wanted to transfer you had to sit out a year unless you got a waiver. So I would consider that comparison apples to oranges. On the budget piece, Sather is also dealing with a real tight budget so dealt the same hand there. Sather has typically proven to be the better X’s and O’s coach compared to Jones. This last game was really fricken weird. No idea what was going on there but it’s not a good sign. Having said all of that, no matter if you feel Jones is a better coach than Sather or vice versa I think that’s besides the point. We should strive for better than Jones and certainly better than what Sather has shown his first few years. We can have a winning program in Grand Forks, we shouldn’t settle to be the bottom of the conference year in and year out.

I agree with this. I have wondered the last few games what the heck is Sather scheming up but in the past it seemed pretty good.

All this game shall be forgotten Thursday when BJ or Brooks puts Bruns on a poster and we pull the upset. Maybe wishful thinking. -
You have one legitimate candidate in Kyan Brown. What a ludicrous list.

I really don’t think this comparison is fair to Danielson. He’s a fine serviceable player. Should he be our starting ball handler? No. But he does some things really well. -

I’m sure he could. If I was the other team though, I wouldn’t guard him outside the paint and maybe even hack-a-Shaq him. -
I’ve wanted to wait on this topic for a bit but yesterday has me damn near ready. My unrealistic top choice is Ben McCollum, I’ve said that over and over. Other than that, I’m looking at Kyan Brown, Gameli Ahelegbe, Jeff Boschee, Saul Phillips. Three D2 guys and 2 D1 mid-major assistants. I would love to go pluck a rising D1 assistant but a) I don’t know who those are and b) the financial aspect.

That was the biggest crowd I’ve seen at a UND basketball game since Marlon Stewart’s winner against NDSU and that’s the performance you put on? Inexcusable. -
Zero chance they pull Saul from Northern mid season.
-
So you’re saying they’ll extend him this offseason?

This! Contain Morgan is huge in my mind. I know Bison fans have been frustrated by his lack of minutes but I could see him being unleashed. -

I just want to know who’s going to come in here and fix this. Sather is a very highly regarded coach by his peers and has been a program builder or rebuilder in the past. Obviously every coach in America has been impacted by Covid and the portal but Sather really came into this job at a !@#$ time. For me, I’m not ready to give up on Sather yet. Let’s see how this season progresses and keep these young guys engaged and wanting to play here. If I had to come up with a short list for next coach, if it came to that, it would start and end with Ben McCollum but we unfortunately don’t have the resources for that. Next names up would be Gameli Ahelegbe and I guess the North Dakota boy hero, Jeff Boschee.
-
Sounds like Peterson to NDSU.
-
Matthews would be in the 2nd year group.
-
I guess it’s hard for me to see what’s happening on a broadcast but at the home games I’ve been to I disagree with this.
-
I’m kind of surprised by the 34% mark. I would have thought it was much higher. Feels like it at times at least.
-
I am pretty sure it will be. I’ve watched Tommie football through their website without paying.
