I was very excited about him as a head coach until this current year.  Based on the offensive performance since the NDSU game Im not nearly as sold.. UNI / USD /first half of Indiana St were complete debacles from an offensive perspective.  At least some of that has to rest on Danny's shoulders.

And I don’t disagree that he deserves blame there. There’s more to being the head coach than X’s and O’s though.

I guess I just feel like he will likely be the next head coach if Bubba is ever to step away and I will be good with that. I know others desperately want outside the UND circle but I don’t think it HAS to be that way. I’d be fine if it is but it doesn’t have to be in order for it to succeed. We did it with basketball and half the people complaining on the football pages about UND hires also hate Sather so idk.

Possibility and my guess.........UND will hand the reins to Danny and not open up the process, either this year or next.  Thoughts??

Or, could be a fake process then hand the reins to Danny.

I would agree. Even with the frustrating last few weeks, I think Danny can be a really good head coach. He just has that moxie about him.

  3. Well in @SWSiouxMN absence figured I would start this. Don’t have any commentary to add about the opponent, just that this should be a blowout. This game counts for us but is an exhibition for them.

Now what I do want to talk about is how the NCAA needs to fix this scheduling or the mid-majors need to come together to help each other out. We have 3 non-D1 games on the schedule and that’s not including the exhibition game. This isn’t just a UND problem either. NDSU has 3, SDSU has 3 and USD has 3. So seems pretty standard, I just don’t think it should be. They’ve added the Big Sky/Summit challenge so that helps with 1 game. Pair up with the MAC or something for another game or 2.

I don’t know exactly how to fix it but I personally don’t want to go to the Betty 3+ times to watch some D2 or NAIA program.

  4. Watching USD-DePaul right now and I just want to say Paul Bruns has regressed since being here. Now maybe he just wasn’t that good and had the volume stats because of how bad that team was that he was on. His brother looks better than him right now.

Just looking at the box score now and one thing that jumped out at me is that Deng Mayar only played 8 minutes but had 3 steals. We haven't really seen what he can do on offense, but man does he have long arms and is able to cause a lot of havoc on defense.

Brooks had 6 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal on 2-2 shooting. I really like Brooks and what he brings.

I still am worried about shooting on this team long term as teams get more and more film on them. Besides Treysen there isn't really anybody that can shoot. For example, late in the first half we tried to run a play to get Omot a post up. Brooks threw it into Omot and he almost immediately got double/triple teamed because we had Brooks, King, and Mara all standing out on the 3 pt line with TT on the other block. Which led to Omot skipping it to Mara who put up a bricked 3. Teams will notice this and start to just leave guys open and dig down/double down on anything in the post.

All fair. I do think Mara could end up being a bit of a 3 point shooter. His shot isn’t bad.

Jamal had the 2 hand push shot. King has the 1 hand push shot. He basically doesn't use a guide hand at all. Both were/are not very pretty looking jumpshots.

At least Jamal shot 35% from 3. I don't see King getting close to that number with his current shot and already lack of confidence shooting the ball.

That’s true. Both don’t really jump.

He practiced everyday against a P6 tournament team. Thought he’d be a lot better. Hell get better but that jumpshot is yikes…

Jump shot is rough for sure. He provides some good defense and good getting to the rim. I feel like he might be better off the ball. Eaglestaff had some real nice vision today. Don’t mind Brooks with the ball either.

Is the band supposed to set up on the top of the Nodak Nation section?  These are some of the most poorly conceived and executed "improvements" I have ever seen.  Why can't the administration just make reasonable choices when it comes to fan experience?

I think the band must be planning on sitting there.

  10. I want someone that wants to elevate their career. I’m not saying a 2 year stay and gone for some low level FBS coordinator but if our coach gets poached to be an FBS head coach, that likely means things were going well.
