He's not wrong though. This is one of the most elite programs in the country, with the best facilities. These guys are given everything to succeed. Playing college hockey is an opportunity, playing for UND is a major opportunity and there are some expectations that come with it. You play a heated competitive game and lost; that happens. You come out the way this team did, look slow, look out of sync, no physical presence .... that a mental state, and that is being unprepared. It was very much the same style game we lost to Quinnipiac. We were behind the play for a large chunk of the game. The score was lopsided and that was with Driscoll making some pretty impressive saves too. I'm not afraid to put some responsibility on the goalie, but he isn't getting much help either. Silver lining; our PP looked pretty good.

Agreed. I think Bubba did a great job of getting UND to this point. Honestly it has been a big improvement from where we were in terms of the product on the field, the compete level, the recruiting, etc. but as you said, he's taken UND as far as he is going to. I don't think Freund is the answer either, questionable OC at times, and not ready for a HC job. Would like to see them get someone with more intensity and less mental errors. I don't suppose Tim Tibesar wants to move to GF? I don't know much about him, but I remember hearing a lot of good things during the last coaching hire. Any other could potential candidates out there?

Dumbest post of the year right here. RB skips a meeting and sits for a game. Not acceptable, but it happens with college kids, you move on. RB is sick and misses a week. RB rushes for 156 yards and 3 TD, but lets cut him because of his fumble. Excellent logic!

including the coaches

In a hole somewhere ignoring the $hit A$$ football performance.
-
No he just allowed an incompetent 4th down call to blow a game for the second time this season. literally the difference between the season being over and being ranked and in the playoff race.
-
Bubba needs to go. He proved he was an upgrade, he also proved his ceiling. Horse$hit coach when it comes to impactful decisions. when people complain about “hockey fans” and football not getting enough attention, this is why! The skill is out there. If Brad Berry pulls the goalie in the 2nd period to try to score an extra goal, then I guess I’d say the same thing about them. Just stop overthinking some of these simple calls.
-
He has absolutely cost us the playoffs. Stupid 4th down calls against NDSU and now against MO st.
-
F these coaches . This will be two games this year that are 100% on them.
-
Holy F the coaches are trying to lose another one.

Quincy in, snap to Otis, pitch to Brock .... why?

Nice to hear that Smith could be back this weekend. Another great wrinkle to our offense.

Will St Thomas become UND's prominent rival.
siouxfan512 replied to SiouxVolley's topic in Other Sports
Reading back on some of the old comments, it looks like what is primarily being discussed in monetary between UND and St Thomas. If UND goes to play St Thomas at the X, St Thomas would reap the financial benefits; good for them. You never know what is going to happen in a series that will create a rivalry. Fight, dirty plays, a close loss. Way way back in the day a Gopher loss to a Wisconsin club team is what started that rivalry. And for anyone who remembers the Robbie Bina CFB, that really triggered everything that became the UND/DU rivalry, followed by some great hockey games, and some epic playoff games. Being conference foes helps there, but my point is you never know what will cause this to be a rivalry, but proximity always helps. Schedule regular games with St Thomas, and you always have an extra "home" game on the schedule, because fans in the TC will swarm to the X to watch UND play. -
Pounding a bad W. Illinois team isn't going to raise a lot of eyebrows. NDSU or SIU would have done that. Take care of business against Misery St and some people may start to take notice. At this point in the season, and after a 3 game losing streak, we need to string together some wins before people consider UND as being competitive. Win this weekend, and get some convincing wins at home, then you roll into Brookings on a high note. As @Mama Sue said .... Lets just beat MO this weekend!
-
We do and we should have. All I meant it, I don't care where we go ... I want to be in the playoffs. That part is still in our control; where we go after that is not up to us; though we could get a first round at home with the right bid of course. That being said, playoffs only happen if we take care of business this weekend and then refocus for the next weekend. Even with a win, this team should never get too high, unless they win the next 4 ... then you can celebrate a bit.

Yes, I already heard about your bridge; it was very creative. Do you have anything to support your theory, or do you think every kid that is sick is a distraction? Maybe he had the flu earlier in the week and was working back to his strength. Maybe he tested positive for covid and was unable to practice. Maybe it was something else. Really none of anyone's business. right? I'm not saying you are necessarily wrong; could it have been something else? sure. But why accuse him of something, and Bubba of lying, with nothing to base it on? Regardless, it probably worked out for the best, Smith, turned out to have a monster day, and the team played really well. I would agree that I hope he stays focused. The kid was given a golden opportunity to stay on the team, and he put in a lot of work to stay on the team. Hopefully he maintains the path.

Maybe, but Izzo does get his rocks off on the Bison, so whatever. That being said, before beating a bad W. Illinois team, we were on a 3 game losing streak, so I would probably save the ""progressing" for after this weekend, or even the next. The 3 game losing streak can be broken down, and 2 of those games were pretty darn good, but they are still losses. If we had made plays to find a way to win either the NDSU or SIU game it might be a different conversation, but 3 close losses in a row in almost going to cement some peoples thoughts that this is a team that can't quite find a way to get over that hump. I don't personally think that, I think this team can still find a way into the playoffs, but not everyone is going to see it that way.

I'd rather go to Fargo then not go anywhere. I get its the Bison at home, but they are still beatable. They could easily be a 2 loss team right now.
